SGPC announces launch of its YouTube channel to air Gurbani from Golden Temple

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has announced the launch of its YouTube channel to broadcast live ‘Gurbani’ from the Golden Temple. Meanwhile, modalities about telecastingGurbanithrough a satellite channel are also being worked out by the Sikh body.

Christened as Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Amritsar, this YouTube channel with SGPCs prominently displayed logo in bold letters in Punjabi, will be on air from July 24, a day after the lapse of 11-year-old contract with a private channel that had mired into controversy for being linked to the Badal family and allegedly having exclusive rights for telecast of hymns.

The SGPC president emphasised that all rights of telecast and distribution of Gurbani content and copyright would be reserved with the SGPC. No other channel, web telecast firm on Social Media or any platform would be legally barred from restreaming, downloading and uploading.

Efforts on to restore water supply schemes: Deputy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said today that the work to restore water supply projects were going on a war footing in flood-affected Mandi and Kullu districts. He added that the government had set a target to resume water supply to Mandi city within 24 hours.

He said, Water supply from the Uhal river was severely hit due to flashfloods. Efforts are being made to restore it at the earliest. The Jal Shakti Department is working to restore an alternative source of water at Paddal, which was also damaged badly in the floods. A budget of Rs 2 crore had been released for the purpose so that water could be supplied to the people of Mandi city from this source till water supply from the Uhal river is restored.

He said, The Jal Shakti Department is facing its biggest challenge due to the flashfloods, which damaged around 5,000 of the total 10,000 water supply schemes.

10 of 13 U’khand dists have over 50% anaemic children

InUttarakhand,anaemia among childrenbetween 9 months and 4 years, 11 months has improved by one point as its Percentage fell from 59.8% to 58.8% according to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) IV (2015-16) to NFHS V (2020-2021) respectively. However, the state’s children are significantly anaemic.

The trend of increasing anaemia among children is higher in the hill districts when compared to the plains. The data indicates that over 50% children sampled are anaemic in Uttarkashi (73.6%), Chamoli (65.5%), Haridwar (63.1%), Tehri (61.1%), Udham Singh Nagar (60.8%), Nainital (59.8%), Dehradun (59.5%), Almora (57.7), Pauri (57.2%), Rudraprayag (52.4%), while in Bageshwar it is 43.7%, Champawat (43.1%) and Pithoragarh (36.2%).

The sample size varied as per the districts’ Population. While five districts have shown a rising in anaemia, the health department is concerned about the hill districts in particular, Chamoli (11.9%), Almora (9.1%) and Dehradun (8.9%), where the problem has increased by almost 9 points.

Uttarakhand’s target is to test at least 2.5 lakh tribal population for sickle cell anaemia, an inherited category. This mean some of these children may have inherited the disease genetically. Anaemia obstructs flow of Oxygen to the body’s Tissues due to lack of haemoglobi, which in turns leads to multiple medical issues including tiredness, irregular heartbeat, chest pain and shortness of breath. Among children, it leads to stunting which may impede overall Growth.

PDS shops to give fruit trees: Jharkhand CMs initiative to increase green cover

Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Friday directed the deputy commissioners of all 24 districts in Jharkhand to ensure that ration card holders are given fruit-bearing saplings.

Ensure that at least two fruit-bearing saplings are given to all ration card beneficiaries during the distribution of ration. This will not only increase the income of the villagers (so that they can sell it when the Plants will bear fruits) but also increase green cover for the benefit of the Environment, Soren said while reviewing the progress of schemes of the rural development department in the state.

There are over 60 lakh families covered under National Act (NFSA) in Jharkhand who get rations from the Public Distribution System (PDS) shops every month at a subsidised rate.

According to the Forest Survey of India 2021 report, over 33 per cent of Jharkhand is covered by forest and trees.

Meticulous planning needed for agriculture sector: Secy

The government’s ethanol policy will play a pivotal role in enhancing the production of corn and rice in our state, said Arun Agarwal, president of BIA.

The state government has imposedEssential Services Maintenance Act(ESMA) on protesting contractual health workers granting authorities the power to take action against employees, who participated in strikes, including potential job termination.

This comes after another strike by regular Health workers was called off on Sunday after assurance from state health minister T S Singhdeo.
The contractual health workers have been on a strike from the past 20 days demanding regularisation of their jobs.

Earlier, the state president of the organization of contract workers,Kaushlesh Tiwarihad announced Water Satyagrah, which was staged by 15 health workers on July 12. All the health employees had gathered in large numbers from different districts.

Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh has ordered all collectors to take strict action against health employees who are on strike. The order states that the collectors should take action against the employees, who are disrupting essential Services, this includes employees who are refusing to work.

Water level dipped 67% in Bhopal in a decade, 10 of 15 wells going dry

The surface below in the city oflakes, is drying. The dire warning is based on a decade-long monitoring which found depletion in water levels inBhopalby a high 66.7%. Indore and Jabalpur reported a more higher depletion rate inground waterlevels at 85% and 82.4%. The country’s Average for million plus cities is 40.2%, according toCentral Ground Water Board(CGWB).

Over 55 million cities were analysed. In Bhopal, the water levels in 15 wells were analysed from November 2012 to November 2022. As many as 10 of the wells reported a depletion in water levels. Eight of them were 0-2 m, one each was 2.-4 m and above 4 m. Four wells where the level rose were 0-2 m and one 2-4 m, according to the CGWB.

As many as 24 of the cities analysed showed a greater than 50% depletion in water levels. Around 20 locations were analysed in Indore in which an alarming 17 showed a decline. In Jabalpur too 14 of 17 analysed showed a decline. Only on location was analysed in Gwalior which did not show a decline.

CGWB monitors the ground water levels periodically in the cities on a regional scale through a Network of monitoring wells.

Gujarat leads in marine fish production in India: Govt

TheGujaratgovernment claimed on Sunday that Gujarat leads the country in marine fish production with an Average of 8.50 lakh metric tonnes of fish production annually over the past four years.
A number of programmes will be organized on July 10 and 11 in Veraval,Porbandar, Jafrabad, Mangrol and Okha to mark the event, an official statement said.

According to the data made available by the government, Gujarat leads India in marine fish production and ranks fifth in the country in total fish production. The average fish production in Gujarat has been about 8.5 lakh tonnes per year in the last 4 years, the statement added.

Presently, the exports of fish from the country is 13,69,264 metric tonnes and Gujarats share in the total fish quantity exports is 16.9%, i.e. 2,32,619 metric tonnes.

The annual income of a family engaged in fishing activities was Rs 6.56 lakh in 2018, Rs 6.80 lakh in 2019, Rs 7.39 lakh in 2020, Rs 8.51 lakh in 2021, and Rs 10.89 lakh in 2022.

CM nod to training scheme for teachers

The has finalized the Teachers Interface for Excellence program allowing 500 teachers from state-run universities, colleges and polytechnic institutes will be able to get training related to TEACHING in prestigious institutions of the country and abroad on Sunday. The announcement for the same was made in the statebudget2023-24. The aim of the scheme is to expose the teachers to the latest innovations and technology in these institutions. These training programs will be for 1 to 6 months.

As per the scheme, the beneficiary teachers will undertake training in the top 100 institutes listed in QS World Ranking and National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF). The government has approved Rs 23.50 crore on the scheme for the year 2023-24. The guidelines of the program will be issued by the department soon.

The scheme will encourage quality teaching and research in higher Education. It will also help the higher educational institutions of the state in improving the grading ofthe NationalAssessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
