Punjab Government on Thursday said it has initiated a set of reforms to further reduce regulatory burden on MSMEs through rationalisation and digitalisation, aiming to enable entrepreneurs to focus on expanding their operations amid Covid-19 pandemic.

The reforms on building flexibility and reducing oversight in the labour rules, and pursuing a data driven assessment of service delivery delays are all centered around making easier in Punjab, said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

To ensure timely delivery of key licenses and permits, the government has begun a monthly data driven assessment mechanism under the Chief Secretary to make sure not a single license or permit is delayed beyond the stipulated period.

The State health department on Monday directed all private hospitals in Jharkhand to reserve at least 50 per cent of beds for Covid-19 patients amid an alarming rise in Covid cases and an acute shortage of dedicated beds in the State capital.

Last week, the Government had asked private hospitals to reserve 25 per cent of beds for Covid patients, but the crisis of beds continued to haunt patients and their family in many parts of the State. The fresh direction was given to private hospitals following a meeting of top Health officials chaired by Health Minister Banna Gupta

The Chhattisgarh government said that it has distributed another consignment of 8,800 Remdesivir injections to different hospitals amid reports of an acute shortage.

On Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghels instruction, Chhattisgarh State Road Development Corp Managing Director Bhoskar Vilas Sandipan and Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corp Managing Director Arun Prasad went to Mumbai and Hyderabad respectively to coordinate with the companies producing Remdesivir injection.

This has helped in keeping a continuous supply of the injections, the press release said. Sun Pharma provided 5,400 injections and Hetero Pharma 3,400. The supply will continue. The state got 9,100 Remdesivir injections.

Suzuki Motor Gujarat commences production from third unit at Ahmedabad facility

SuzukiMotor Gujarat Pvt Ltd (SMG), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation, has commenced production from third unit at its Ahmedabad-based manufacturing facility.

With production starting at the Plant C, which has an annual production ability of 2.5 lakh units, together with Plant A and Plant B, the total ability of SMG will be 7.5 lakh units.

In October 2020, SMG became the fastest production site of Suzuki to achieve accumulated automobile production of 10 lakh units.

Rajasthan government working on extending industry benefits to tourism sector

After prolonged Persuasion by the tourism bodies, thestate governmentseems to be heeding to their demand for extendingindustry benefitsto the sector that has been hobbled by the pandemic.

The state finance department has communicated to thetourism departmentto prepare an action plan to offer benefits to the hospitality sector.

Industry benefits will include electricity rates, UDH and land taxes which are currently paid by the hospitality sector at commercial rates which are higher.

Tourism was declared as an industry in 1989, but the benefits were not extended by states and the units are paying taxes and electricity tariffs at commercial rates. Recently, states likeMaharashtraand Karnataka have given the sector the industry benefits.

As per industry estimates, energy costs account for a significant part of a hotels operating expenses ranging from 15-35%. It is the second highest expenses after manpower cost. Additionally, whether a hotel or restaurant consumes electricity or not, it has to pay a fixed tariff.

When the index measurement is higher than 100, it means optimism, and when it is lower than 100, it means pessimistic.
