35 acres of poppy cultivation destroyed in Manipur

As part of the state governments ongoing War on Drugs campaign, a combined team of Kangpokpi district Police, forest officials andAssam Rifles(AR) on Friday destroyed 35 acres of illegal poppy cultivation along the Koubru hill range in the district.

On the same day and in the same district, another joint team of police and the paramilitary force confiscated 2.89kg of brown sugar.

A suo moto case has been taken up for further investigation under Section 18(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act, the police officer said.

The demand for district status to Brahmapur gained momentum after the CM Naveen Patnaiks recent decision to make Padmapur the 31stdistrict of the State.

City based outfit Sahara TaliAnchalMilitaKriyaAnusthan Committee (STAMKAC) has renewed its earlier demand of making the Brahmapur sub-division a district. The STAMKAC had submitted a memorandum in this regard addressing to the Chief Ministerin 2018 when the Government was considering creating some new districts before the 2019 simultaneous .

Ganjam district is still a big district to govern and for better administration, Brahmapur needs to be made a district, said Patnaik.

Brahmapur has already got a separate Police and labour district tag under its purview. Recently the Government is also going to give a nod for a separate RTO office for Brahmapur. The RDC office is in Brahmapur but the district headquarters town of Ganjam is in Chhatrapur, said the memorandum.

Trichy MSMEs eye big job orders for upcoming CPCL-IOCL refinery

Telangana to give Rs 3 lakh aid for houses from early 23

Andhra Pradesh told to pay Rs 5 crore for damage to mangroves

The , southern zone, has directed the AP government to pay an interim compensation of Rs.5 crore for the damage caused to themangrovesin the existing area covering an extent of nearly 18 acres.

The NGT said the quantum of compensation awarded is subject to further compensation to be assessed by the committee appointed by it. The amount should be paid to the APCZMA, which can utilise it for protecting the coastal Environment including protection, conservation and preservation of the existing MANGROVES in the coastal area, in the area in dispute, and other areas.
The amount will also be utilised for increasing the mangrove forest cover in the coastal zone so as to enhance resilience to disasters like Climate-change”>Climate Change, flood erosion and cyclonic effect.

AP has two mangrove forests – in Godavari and Krishna estuaries.The Coringa mangrove sanctuary in the estuary of the Godavari is the second biggest mangrove forest in India after the Sundarbans.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between NCPOR and Parvatibai Chowgule College will provide a platform for scientists to exchange experiences, ideas and research methodol with students, professors and future researchers.

NCPOR is a research organisation under the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, which is tasked with planning and executing polar expeditions and scientific research in Antarctica, Arctic, Himalayas and Southern Ocean. It also undertakes research on some of the countrys strategically vital projects like mapping of Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), continental shelf margins and the Deep Ocean Mission.

Haryana to enlist Rs 1.2 crore for free healthcare by year end: Manohar Lal Khattar

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has launched a state-wide campaign, Chirayu Haryana, under which the government has raised the annual income eligibility cap for theAyushmanBharat scheme to Rs 1.8 lakh from Rs 1.2 lakh.

UnderChirayu Haryana, people with an annual income of up to Rs 1.8 lakh can enrol and avail all benefits offered by the Centres Ayushman Bharat scheme, he said in Manesar.

Under both initiatives, Haryana aims to issue golden cards to a total of 1.2 crore recipients by the end of this year, the CM added. By December 5, we should cover 10 lakh beneficiaries under Chirayu Haryana. With this card, family members of recipients can get free treatment costing up to Rs 5 lakh. The scheme also covers around 1,500 treatment procedures and operation expenses, Khattar said.

Under the scheme, people from the economically weaker section can avail healthcare treatment as well as coverage of three days of pre-hospitalization and 15 days of post-hospitalization expenses. Around 600 golden cards were distributed in Manesar and two more sites in Gurugram on Monday the Freedom Fighter zila parishad hall in Gurugrams Civil Lines and the Pataudi government hospital.

Punjabs 99.94 percent of households that is 34.24 lakhs out of the total of 34.26 lakh are getting potable piped water supply. Noting this, the state Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua on Wednesday directed the Water Supply and Sanitation Department to cover the remaining 2,230 households in quality-affected villages on priority within the current financial year to ensure potable piped water supply in all rural households across the State.

Janjua, chairing the third meeting of Apex Committee of State Water and Sanitation Mission (SWSM), reviewed the progress of ongoing Water supply and sanitation projects, and directed the concerned officials to ensure 100 percent coverage of rural households with Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) at the earliest.

He also directed the Rural Development and Water Supply and Sanitation Departments officials to submit a road map within a week for the achievement of targets under Swachh Bharat-Gramin.

During the meeting, it was apprised that the State has already covered 99.94 percent of households with piped water supply. All the remaining 2230 households in quality affected villages will be provided with potable water supply in 2022-23. The Department has already ensured 100 percent saturation of households in terms of piped water supply through FHTCs in 11,931 villages, 146 blocks, and 20 districts of the State besides ensuring Har Ghar Jal certification through special in 11,867 saturated villages, 133 blocks, and in 16 districts, he added.
