North India’s first Nuclear Plant is coming up in Haryana in the town of Gorakhpur, which is about 150 km north of the national capital of New Delhi.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that during Prime Minister Narendra Modis regime, one of the major achievements would be the installation of Nuclear/ Atomic Energy Plants in other parts of the country, which were earlier confined mostly to the South Indian States like Nadu and Andhra Pradesh or in the west in Maharashtra.

The Minister said that the Department of Atomic Energy, GoI has also been given permission for forming joint ventures with PSUs for Resources to opening up of atomic energy plants, which is an upcoming and promising sector, having potential to fulfill Indias all energy needs in times to come.

Gulab Chand Kataria sworn in as 31st Governor of Assam

Gulab Chand Kataria takes oath as the Governor of Assam. 78-year-old Kataria was sworn in as the 31st governor of Assam at Srimanta Kalakshetra in Guwahati. Kataria, a resident of Udaipur in Rajasthan, would succeed professor Jagdish Mukhi, who demitted office on February 19 after completing his term. Earlier, Kataria had served as the Home Minister of Rajasthan and a leader of opposition in the State Assembly there.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation draws up Rs 690 crore budget for 2023-24

The Bhubaneswar (BMC) on Monday made a total budgetary allocation of Rs 690 crore for the 2023-24 financial year with lion share of it being allocated for various construction works and new Infrastructure creation and maintenance.

The BMC has set aside Rs 235 crore for all kinds of civil construction, which is 34 per cent of the total allocation. Sanitation, another important component of the civic body has received an allocation of Rs 141 crore. Last year, the civic body had allocated Rs 110 crore for municipal solid Waste Management (sanitation). Its revenue receipt in 2022-23 financial year is Rs 708 crore.

From tax revenue, it has generated Rs 105.85 crore and from user charges, trade license, parking, it has received Rs 106.97 crore.

Tamil Nadu not No.1 in organ donation

The number of donations from brain-dead patients in Nadumore than doubled to 156 in 2022 over 2021, when 60 such donations were registered.
The state, which has been the leader in organ donations till 2018, however, has not been able to get back first place. Health experts attributed the slowdown to inadequate participation by government hospitals.Telangana,which were far behind TN till a few years ago, is now at the top of the table with 194 donations.

According to Transtan, the state transplant authority, there were just 55 donations from government hospitals in Tamil Nadu in 2022.

While this is a steep increase from four and five donations recorded in 2020 and 2021 and the highest since 2008, experts say there is bigger scope.

Kerala Stipend Scheme for Junior Lawyers

The Chief Minister of Kerala recently launched the Stipend scheme for lawyers in the state. The scheme is to be implemented by the Bar Council of the state. The council will be joined by the Advocates Welfare Trust. Under the scheme, the junior lawyers in the state will be paid three thousand rupees every month.

Only junior lawyers are eligible to receive the benefits of the scheme. Also, the lawyers should have at least three years of practice experience. Their annual income should be less than one lakh rupees.

Karnataka State Budget 2023-24

The State of Karnataka is entering in May 2023. The Interim Budget for 2023-24 was presented by the State CM Basavaraj Bommai. The interim budget is the budget presented ahead of elections. At 20%, Telangana rural vegetable inflation boiling over, says expert

For stability, a bandwidth of a 2-6% rate is good. This, however, varies with time for many reasons. Indias inflation rate is influenced by fuel prices. Inflation is understood as a consistent spurt in prices and the poor cannot afford a price rise, so its critical to keep inflation levels within the desired ban dwidth. Going by GST collections and GDP figures, India is relatively safe. Also, we are not an export-driven economy and inflation rates were brought down between February and March.

As per data, Telanganas vegetable inflation in rural areas between April and October is very high, hovering around 20%. In the same p eriod, the corresponding figure (rural vegetable inflation) for the country was just 6%. Agriculturists say price benefits not being passed on to consumers or cultivation not meeting demand.

At 7.7%, dementia cases in Andhra Pradesh higher than national average

The prevalence of dementia has been estimated at 7.7% in the 60-plus age group inAndhra Pradesh, while the national Average stood at 7.4%. About 8 lakh people may contract dementia – a medical condition that can affect memory, thinking, Personality, and reasoning – by 2036 in Andhra Pradesh.
The number of people battling this syndrome in AP in 2016 stood at about 4.5 lakh. These numbers are based on a nation-wise study that was conducted by using representative data collected in India between 2017 and 2020.

The collaborative research work was led by researchers from theUniversity of Southern CaliforniaandAIIMS, in collaboration with several other Indian institutions.

As per the study, dementia is considerably more prevalent among individuals with lower Education. As is the worldwide trend, this longitudinal research work also found that the number of Women being affected by dementia is almost twofold compared to their male counterparts.

Notably, Jammu and Kashmir has a 11% dementia prevalence in the senior citizens, the highest for any state/Union Territory in the country, while Delhi has the lowest at 4.5%. The study – namely ‘prevalence of dementia in India: national and state estimates from a nationwide study’ – was published in the ‘Alzheimer’s & Dementia’ journal of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Tatas for major expansion in Goa, set to pump in Rs 300 crore

Indian Hotels Company Limited(IHCL), the hospitality arm of theTata Group, has prepared a robust expansion roadmap for Goa, and intends to invest around Rs 300 crore in new properties in the state. The company is looking to add to its existing portfolio of 23hotels in Goaby opening up several new resorts over the next two to three years.

Among the new projects IHCL intends to set up is a super luxury dream project at the Fort Aguada and Taj Holiday Village, Sinquerim.

In 2021-22, amidst the pandemic, IHCL raked in a profit of Rs 160 crore just from Goa. The state contributed 45% to IHCLs topline in 2021-22, but going forward, this is expected to settle at around 40%.

Shri Nitin Gadkari lays Foundation Stone of the world’s largest and unique Divyang Park – Anubhuti Inclusive Park in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Shri Gadkari said Nagpur city is one of the fastest growing cities of the country. In 2016, the central government passed the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act for the rights of persons with disabilities. He said this law is to give the disabled the right to live with dignity. Taking initiative under this, the Central Government has created some Divyang Parks in South India and Madhya Pradesh, In this series, this ‘Anubhuti Inclusive Park’ is being built for disabled children and general citizens in Pardi campus of Nagpur ,he added.

The Minister said this is the world’s first inclusive disabled park, a provision of about Rs 12 crore has been made by the Ministry of Social and Empowerment, Government of India, for this park being built in an area of 90 thousand square feet. He said here, various projects have been conceptualized for the disabled as well as for the general public and senior citizens.
