10 Manipuri films to be screened in IFFI, Goa

TenManipurifilms would be screened in the coming International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, and countrys biggest film event from November 21 to 28.
Out of the ten, five are feature films and five are non-feature films, a statement issued by theManipurState Film Development Society (MFSDS) on Wednesday said, adding that the films would be screened under the Special Golden Jubilee Cinema package.

Meanwhile, MFSDS has selected and sponsored three film personalities of the state for attending the festival as Manipur delegates.

The three are film critics are Ashangbam Netrajit, film journalist of Poknapham , a Manipuri vernacular daily, Boney Thongamcha and former Film Forum Manipur (FFM) chairman and actorS Mangoljao Singh.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma launches Assam Millets Mission

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Assam Mission to meet the country’s export demand, besides raising the Nutrition quotient and doubling the income of farmers.

The Centre has prepared a comprehensive strategy to promote Indianmilletexports across the globe from December.

Sarma said the mission has been launched in synergy with the Prime Minister’s aim of obtaining ‘atmanirbharta’ (self-sufficiency). He hoped that under the millet mission, the farmers would diversify their Cropping practices and extend farming to grow millets. The state Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture department has undertaken initiatives in launching the millet mission on 25,000 hectares of crop land initially.
According to the government plan, it will be extended to 50,000 hectares in later phases, to compete with high yielding states like Rajasthan.

ASI denies nod to Garuda Stambha silver-plating

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has denied permission to silver-plating of the Garuda Stambha (holy pillar on which Lord Garuda is sitting) citing a technical reason.

The ASI said the silver-plating would further harm the Garuda Stambha and the department is mulling to provide support to it by a steel frame for its preservation.

The entire controversy came to Light following a donation of Rs 1.3 croreto the Jagannath Temple from a West Bengal-based industrial house. The corporate house has expressed its eagerness to spend the amount towards silver-plating of the Garuda Stambha.

Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin: Internet page on VOC launched

Chief ministerM K Stalinlaunched an Internet page on freedom fighter V O Chidambaram Pillai at theTamildigital library and released the 150th birthday souvenir magazine, on the occasion of his 86th death anniversary.

The internet page in the digital library consists of 11 books written by him including seven editions and four translations. The page also has e-books; 20 biographic books on VOC, six centenary year souvenirs, a compilation of essays written on him, five research books and six other books on VOC. Besides, the page has 17 documentaries, seven handwritten copies and 38 other documents on the life of VOC.

Tamil virtual academy is involved in turning all the books on VOC into e-books. In view of 150th birthday of VOC on September 3, 2021,Stalinhad announced that Tamil virtual academy will take up the task of converting all the literature on VOC into e-books.

‘Double-engine govt’ brought in development to Karnataka: CM Basavaraj Bommai

Karnataka chief ministerBasavaraj Bommai said the “double-engine” government in the state has brought in all-round development to the state with the support of the Centre.

Bommai said the country needs Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Leadership for many more years to come. The whole word is taking note of the India’s development under his leadership, he said.

The Chief Minister said the Centre has agreed to all the demands put forth by the people of the coastal areas. The Sagarmala project has provided a new direction to the in the coastal region.

He said the Centre has also approved the state’s proposals on the norms regarding the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), which will lead to generation of more EMPLOYMENT.

Telangana’s rural inflation highest in country

At 9.47%,Telanganahas the highest rural Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based in the country in October this year. Experts attribute the high rural inflation to increased demand for products and Services as well as a surge in prices.

According to the most recent figures released by theUnion ministry of statisticsand programme implementation, state’s rural inflation is 8.2% higher than urban inflation. However, the state can take a breather as the combined inflation rate (rural and urban) has dropped to 8.8% from 10% a few months ago.

Apart from Telangana, only three other states have rural inflation rate of 8% or higher for October. West Bengal is second with 8.6%, followed byHaryana(8.4%) and AP (8%).

As per central government, there is a failure in meeting inflation target when Average inflation rises above the target’s upper Tolerance level of 6% or declines below its lower tolerance level for three consecutive quarters. CPI-based inflation ranged from 6.3% in the March quarter to 7.2% in June quarter to 7% in the September quarter in the country.

Andhra Pradesh to lease out vacant lands to boost revenue

The Centre has askedstate governmentsto consider leasing out vacant land parcels owned by village panchayats to improve revenue.

The Centre observed that vast extent of lands was left unoccupied giving scope for encroachment. It noted that leasing of such properties will help local bodies to improve its revenues at least by 63 per cent over the present revenues.
National Council for Applied Economics and Research (NCAER) carried out a study on the issue and submitted a report with its findings to the Centre. The Centre forwarded the report to the with a suggestion to consider the report’s recommendations.

The state government has directed village panchayats to identify suitable land to grant them on lease. The NCAER report said that auctioning of village tanks by converting them in to fish tanks is expected to improve revenues by 21 per cent.

The report also suggested local bodies to make full use of its borewells after tapping waters for its drinking water needs.

Govt lifts ban for transportation of buffaloes into Goa

The Goa government has decided to lift the ban on transportation of buffaloes into the state.

The government approved the file on Wednesday, and the file has been sent to the district collectors to issue orders on lifting the ban.

The relaxation will be a limited one, permitting traders to import only buffaloes from neighbouring states directly to the government abattoir in Usgao, with no stops in between.

Will finish Rs 2,500 crore projects in Faridabad in year: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar

Haryana chief ministerManohar Lal Khattarsaid on Sunday that during the next one year, development works worth Rs 2,500 crore will be completed byFaridabadMetropolitan Development Authority (FMDA). Construction of new roads between Faridabad and Noida is an important part of these development works.

He said that a new bus terminal with state-of-the-art facilities will be constructed in Sector-61 of the city. He said that besides this, any public development work raised by the local MP, MLA, councillors, sarpanches, panches or any other public representative will soon be ensured. Dedicating the other development works to the people of the city, the chief minister said that the beautification work of 8-acre park in Sector 22-23 of the city will soon be done by the .

Punjab govt likely to implement OPS before Gujarat Polls

Facing heat from the employees over the delay in implementing the old pension scheme (OPS), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Punjab Government is planning to implement it soon, especially ahead of the crucial Gujarat assembly where the party is trying to make inroads.

Punjab Cabinet, in its meeting scheduled on Friday, is expected to discuss the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) before its implementation. However, the major challenge ahead of the cash-strained state is a deposit of nearly Rs 18,000 crore to the pension fund authorities.

It has been learnt that the state Finance Department is working overtime to chalk out the modalities to build up the required fund. Also, the government is taking a legal opinion on the issue.

Notably, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had, ahead of Diwali, announced reverting to Old Pension Scheme (OPS). My government is considering reverting to the Old Pension System (OPS). I have asked my Chief Secretary to study the feasibility and modalities of its implementation. We stand committed to the welfare of our employees, he had tweeted.

The announcement was made, the previous month, ahead of the assembly polls in the neighboring hill state Himachal Pradesh after the states agitating employees threatened to hold a series of poll-khol rallies across the State against the AAP which was promising OPS as its poll guarantee.
