The river system has two major paleo-channels. One passes through Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Pehowa, Kaithal, Jind, Fatehabad and Sirsa before entering Hanumangarh in Rajasthan. Indigenously Developed Anti-hail Guns

The Himachal Pradesh government will test the use of indigenously developed anti-hail guns’ to assist horticulturists who have crop damage due to hailstorms. The indigenous guns were created by IIT Bombay in collaboration with Dr YS Parmar University of Forestry, Nauni (Solan).

About the anti-hail gun:

The anti-hail gun is a machine that generates shock waves to destroy the Growth of hailstones in the cloud.

It consists of a tall fixed structure, a bit like an inverted tower, a few meters high, with a long and narrow cone that opens up to the sky.

The gun “fires” by sending an explosive mixture of acetylene gas and air into its lower chamber, thereby releasing shock waves

Shock waves (such as those produced by supersonic aircraft) travel faster than the speed of Sound.

These shock waves are said to prevent water droplets in clouds from forming hailstones, allowing them to fall as raindrops instead.

Clear policy required to deal with fly ash problem: FICCI

he Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and , Chhattisgarh has suggested that increasing punishments or punishing the power plant alone is not a solution but clear policy to fix responsibility of every stake holder is also necessary to solve the problem of fly ash menace.

In addition to the additional expenditures, it is very difficult for a thermal power plant to get permission to establish Ash Dyke from the state pollution control board. Instead of leaving power Plants alone, a clear and transparent policy is needed to ensure that all stakeholders make a contribution in disposing of the ash from power plants.

In order to dispose of fly ash, the government must make a condition of using only ash and its products compulsorily in all the tenders of construction works and mandatory rules for transportation and disposal should be made, use of fly ash should be mandatory for end users.
