Unification of Mizo inhabited areas into single admn MNFs goal: Zoramthanga

Mizoramchief minister Zoramthanga reiterated that unification of all the Mizo inhabited areas into a single administration has been the political objective of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) for more than 60 years.
Speaking to media persons on the demand for a separate administration by the Kuki-Zo people in strife-torn Manipur, which included the possible formation of Greater Mizoram, Zoramthanga said when the Late Laldenga formed the MNF on October 22, 1962, unification of all Mizo inhabited contiguous areas into a single administration was one of its ambitions. The Kuki-Zo leaders, including 10 tribal legislators of Manipur, during their meeting in Aizawl on May 17 resolved that a separate administration is the only solution for bringing peace while the possibility of joining a Greater Mizoram also featured in their discussions.

Though contiguous areas in Myanmar and Bangladesh, inhabited by the Mizo ethnic community, remain iredenta after the MNF came overground after signing a peace accord with the Indian government in 1986, unification of Mizo inhabited areas within India under one administrative unit is possible under the Indian Constitution


Dibrugarh to host 2023 Assam Youth Olympics

Sonowal said the second edition of the Assam Youth Olympics will be hosted by Dibrugarh from December 2 to 10 that will witness the participation of over 5,000 athletes from all 31 districts of the state. AIIMS-NIRTAR MoU for research, patient care

The Aiims Bhubaneswar signed an MoU with the National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) Cuttack for academic, research and comprehensive rehabilitation care.

Dr Biswas said the two prominent national institutes would work on AIIMS referral patients like neurology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, burn and plastic surgery, paediatrics, medicine in AIIMS and departments of SVNIRTAR like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, orthopaedics to improve healthcare and research in specialised areas.

The MoU also aims to design various short-term academic programmes in the form of fellowship, collaborative research, conduct symposia, colloquium, workshops, seminars and conferences on chosen topics and areas to train students in both the institutions.

Tamil Nadu demands 15,000MT of additional wheat per month from Centre

Wheat consumption has increased inTamil Nadudue to changing food habits and the Centre should give 15,000 MT of wheat in addition to the existing allocation of 8,532 MT per month. It could be supplied instead of rice or under open market sales scheme (OMSS).

He thanked the Prime Minister and Union minister of consumer affairs and food and public distribution for permitting Nadu to procure paddy from Sept 1 last year for the kharif season and requested the Centre to approve the same schedule for this year too at the increased MSP announced by the Centre.

He said since 98% of transactions at PDS shops in Tamil Nadu were being done using biometric authentication, only the actual beneficiaries were getting commodities from the ration shops. For more than 40 years, Tamil Nadu has been following universal PDS.

He proposed to extend supply of ragi through PDS outlets across the state if adequate supply of Millets is ensured to the state. Ragi is already being supplied through ration shops in Dharmapuri and the Nilgiris districts.

ILDM to begin MBA course in disaster management

The Institute of Land and Disaster Management (ILDM), under the revenue department, is set to launch the countrys first AICTE-approved master of business administration (MBA) course in disaster management.
The move aims to equip aspiring candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage and mitigate the impact of disasters.

Affiliated to theKeralaUniversity, the MBA programme will offer an opportunity for students to excel in disaster management and contribute to building a more resilient Society. It assumes importance in the wake of the state witnessing multiple types of disasters and requiring the Services of experts.

The advantage that ILDM has is that the organization deals with training government officials in these matters, and comprises experienced professionals with extensive backgrounds in disciplines such as agronomy, Geography, disaster management and social work. Moreover, the programme also offers insights from guest faculties, including renowned experts from international institutions specialising in areas such as language Education, intercultural Communication, and technology for disaster management.

Karnataka Shramika Shakthi meet to be held soon

The state-level convention ofKarnatakaState Loading and Unloading Labourers Federation organised byKarnatakaShramika Shakthi (KSS) will be held on July 10 at Freedom Park at Bengaluru, said Mysuru district unit president Kariayanayak.

He said that the convention is organised to mark the 10th anniversary of implementation of AnnaBhagyascheme by the . The scheme provides jobs to lakhs of loading and unloading workers in the state, he said.

He said that CM Siddaramaiah, food and civil supplies minister KH Muniyappa, labour minister Santosh Lad will take part in the convention.
He said that the association will demand the state government to constitute a Loading and Unloading Welfare Board on the lines ofMaharashtragovernment to ensure all government benefits, including Scholarship, PF, ESI, medical care, loan, free bus passes and other social security schemes are provided to them.

In a first, Telangana high court delivers judgment in Telugu

The High Court has delivered the first ever judgement in Telugu in a dispute over a property inSecunderabadbetween two brothers.

The 44-page judgement delivered follows a Kerala high court order in Malayalam in February. The move comes in the wake of The Supreme Court keeping its important judgements online after having them translated into regional languages.

The high court bench of Justice P Naveen Rao and Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka also prepared its judgement separately in English and enclosed it along with the Telugu version. It clarified that any typographical errors found in Telugu should be compared with the English version and that the latter would get primacy if there was any confusion.
The bench added that the order was pronounced in Telugu for the convenience of the litigants. Some English words have been used in the Telugu version as people of the state use them widely, the judges added.
