Centre sanctioned 2,000cr for Tripura under JJM: Manik

CM Manik Saha said the Centre has approved Rs 2,000 crore for the state under theJal Jeevan Missionto supply piped drinking water to households.

Saha thanked the PM and Union minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for approving Rs 2,000 crore to implement piped water scheme. At present, 56% of households of the state have piped water facility. I am glad to share that theUnion ministry of Jal Shaktihas approved Rs 2000 crore forTripuraunder JJM 2023-24 and the fund is more than total of Rs 1,930 crore Tripura received in the last 3 years, he said to the media.

Assam to provide ration cards to 40 lakh people in April

The Assam government will provide ration cards to 40 lakh people in April, cabinet ministerRanjeet Dasssaid.

The minister also said people have already started applying for the ration cards. He said many who have a government job or come from well-off families have come forward to surrender their ration cards following the state governments appeal.

The Assam government in December last year announced that with the help of the ration cards, consumers will be able to receive cashless medical benefits up to Rs 5 lakh per family at government or private hospitals across the country.

Cabinet nod to apartment Bill

The state cabinet chaired by chief ministerNaveen Patnaik gave its nod to the Odisha Apartment (Ownership & Management) Bill, 2023, it is reliably learnt. The cabinet gave its nod to the apartment bill to make the laws governing housing projects comply with the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, a senior government official said. According to the bill, associations of allottees of housing projects have to be formed before the first sale deed of any flat in an apartment.

Registration of the common areas of the apartment, entire land, staircases and play areas will be registered in the name of such associations. However, under the existing provisions, the common areas were registered proportionately in the name of house buyers.

Tamil Nadu govt unveils policy for natural gas supply to households

To speed up supply of piped natural gas to homes across Tamil Nadu, the state government has come up with a detailed policy and appointed theTamil NaduIndustrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO) as the nodal agency. The target is 2.28 lakh domestic connections and 2,785 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations covering all 38 districts within eight years.
The Centre had given the first contracts to build city gas distribution (CGD) infrastructure in 2018, including for Chennai and neighbouring districts. The CGD network is being built in 15 districts and the contracts for the remaining 23 districts have also been authorised. Building CGD infrastructure will cost around 35,000 crore and create jobs for around 20,000 people, both directly and indirectly.
TIDCO to hold meetings monthly to check status of CGD works
Apart from the state-level nodal agency, the policy named district collectors as district-level nodal officers. TIDCO will hold meetings with the officials concerned on a monthly basis to check the status of CGD works.

CM: World Bank has offered to help state

Chief ministerPinarayi Vijayanhas said theWorld Bankhas offered support for the waste management projects in the state. Apart from the financial help, World Bank (WB) will also provide technical support to the projects.

Vijayan said WB has agreed to provide support for conducting drone survey over garbage dumping yards. In the wake of the fire at Brahmapuram, WB has assured to provide all support to the state, he added.

WB representatives will have a detailed discussion on this with the local self-government minister. Apart from this, the WB team has assured of providing technical expertise to conduct fire audit in the garbage dumping yards.

Karnataka approves Foxconn’s Rs 8,000-crore mobile manufacturing unit plan near Bengaluru

The Karnataka government on Monday, through its state high-level clearance committee (SHLCC), cleared the proposedRs 8,000-crore investment by Taiwanese company Foxconn.
The project is to manufacture mobile devices and is expected to come up on the outskirts of Bengaluru, across the Doddaballapur and Devanahalli taluks.
The project received the green light at a meeting that saw 10 proposals worth Rs 75,393 crore being cleared.

Andhra Pradesh CM extends financial assistance for treatment of ailing children

Moved by the plight of the families of sick and needy,Andhra Pradeshchief ministerYS Jagan Mohan Reddyhas extendedfinancial assistanceto them on the spot during his visit to Tiruvur on Sunday.
The Andhra Pradesh CM also directed the district collectorS Dilli Raoto take immediate measures to provide healthcare support to the ailing children.

He walked up to the gallery after seeing a couple carrying a 13-year old boy and enquired about their need. The couple M Srinu andVenkataravammaof Kommireddi Palli village explained that their 13-year-old son M Ranjit was suffering from blood cancer and sought financial assistance from the chief minister. Without waiting for further information, the chief minister granted them Rs.1 lakh financial assistance from CMRF. He assured the couple of providing all necessary medical support for Ranjit. He directed the district collector to take care of the medical needs of Ranjith.
Similarly, G Suresh and Gayatri, villagers of Sher Mohammadpeta in Jaggayyapeta mandal sought support for the treatment of their daughters Veda Sri Durga (12) and Lasya Priya (8) suffering from congenital myasthenic syndrome. They informed the chief minister that around Rs 30,000-40,000 was being spent per a month for their treatment and sought financial support for better treatment.

Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry welcomes uniform tax for commercial spaces

While thanking theCorporation of the City of Panajifor the downward revision in municipal tax on commercial establishments, Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) has urged the civic body to recover tax from defaulters on a war-footing.

The industry body said that CCP now needs to put in place a proper mechanism to identify tax defaulters and adopt punitive measures like non-renewal of trade license if arrears are not cleared.

CCP had increased the municipal tax rates for commercial establishments but introducing new categories. GCCI had complained that there was “no scientific basis of calculation” while imposing the tax rates. CCP finally agreed to roll back the hike and imposed uniform municipal tax rates for all commercial establishments in the capital.
GCCI has also recommended that CCP should put in place a proper system for timely payment of house tax, including a system to make sure that the notice to pay house tax reaches the owner well in time.

Separate body sought to conserve forts

The Samast Hindu Bandhav Samiti, a non-profit organization working for the conservation of forts acrossMaharashtra, has demanded that the state government should form a separate corporation for conservation of forts and historical sites associated withChhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Founder president of the organisationRavindra Padwal, while addressing a press conference in the city, said state tourism ministerMangalprabha Lodhahas taken steps to form the corporation in the next three months.

The corporation will bring under its jurisdiction over 400 forts in Maharashtra that have not been surveyed by the department of archaeology. It will prepare a district-wise list of forts for better management and conservation
