Centre to send team to Mizoram to set up bamboo tissue culture lab: Ashwini Kumar Choubey

Choubeysaid he had a discussion on the bamboo potential inMizoramwith chief minister Zoramthanga.

He said Zoramthanga has given high importance to bamboo products to boost the economy of the state.

It was following a discussion with the chief minister that Choubey had agreed to send scientists from theministry of environmentand forests to see if it would be feasible to set up a tissue culture laboratory for bamboo.

Australian Research Council to fund Assam jar study

The Australian Research Council (ARC) will fund the exploration of the enigmatic megalithic jars that linked northeast India with South East Asia thousands of years ago.

Researchers at the Gauhati University (GU), North-Eastern Hill University (Nehu) along with their Australian counterparts are conducting a research study that establishes northeast Indias possible connections with Indonesia, Myanmar and Laos as early as the late second millennium BC.

This interdisciplinary project aims to document and explore the cultural connections between the geographically disparate megalithic cultures of Laos and India and create an enduring digital record of these threatened cultural assets.

The state government on Wednesday announced plans to implement a scheme under which people will contribute land to government agency,OdishaIndustrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco), to form a land pool for industrial use. Idco will develop the land pool into a modern industrial park.

The government will keep portions of the land for basic . Idco will have leasing rights on a part of the land and the individual landowner will have the leasing rights on the balanced developed land, according to the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2022, unveiled on the first day of the Make in Odisha investors meet.

Industries such as agro and Food Processing, automobiles and auto-components, manufacturing in aviation and maintenance handicraft, handloom, information technology, IT-enabled service, petroleum, chemicals pharmaceuticals, sea food processing, textile, tourism are among priority sectors.

The government will provide industrial land at concessional rates with 100% exemption from payment of stamp duty and land conversion charges to the thrust and priority industries. While thrust sectors will get exemption from paying electricity duty for 10 years, priority sectors will have exemption for seven years.

New industrial units in the priority and thrust sectors will be reimbursed power tariff of Rs 2 per unit for a period of seven and 10 years respectively. Eligible industrial units in thrust and priority sectors shall be provided 30% and 20% capital Investment subsidy respectively.

Tamil Nadu: NH widening will be done by 2023-24, says Nitin Gadkari

The widening of two-lane into four-lane bypasses at eight different locations on the Salem-Ulundurpet National Highway would be completed by 2023-24, said Union road transport and highways ministerNitin Gadkari.

He said the concessionaire already provided necessary road safety and traffic calming measures like road signs, blinkers, bollards, road markings at divergent/ convergent locations, high mast lightings at major junctions and streetlights at built-up areas as per the concession agreement. He promised that additional requirements would be reviewed through a safety consultant and work would be taken up separately.

In a letter to Gadkari in September,Anbumanipointed out that only 97.37 km of the 136km-stretch of Salem-Ulundurpet NH was four-lane while the rest 38.99km was two-lane. He said speeding commuters fail to negotiate the sudden change in the number of lanes in the highway resulting in frequent fatal accidents. He said 1,036 people were killed in accidents on the highway in the last 11 years, between 2011 and 2022.

Synthite launches Keralas first agro-processing cluster

The first agro-processing cluster (APC) inKerala– CVJ Agro Processing Cluster ofSynthiteGroup, a producer of spice extracts and value-added spices – has started functioning in Pancode near Kolanchery in Ernakulam. TheAPC, set up in 19.8 acres with an of Rs 175 crore, was developed under the Pradhanmantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, promoted by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).

The APC – which is functioning as a part of Synthite Taste Park – provided all common amenities, including facilities for raw material storage, boiler, common laboratory, raw material cleaning, grading, sorting, grinding,weigh bridge, electrical distribution,rainwater harvesting, fire fighting, common truck bay and the like. It is expected to provide direct EMPLOYMENT to around 500 people while it will be beneficial to thousands of farming families across the country.

A week after Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai claimed that panchayat samitis inJat taluka’s villages in Sangli district had passed a resolution for a merger with Karnataka over the Maharashtra government’s failure to provide them water, chief minister Shinde on Monday approved a Rs 2,000 crore expansion plan for Mhaisal Irrigation project, which will bring 48 villages under irrigation.

According to reports, Shinde approved a revised proposal for Rs 2,000 crore for expansion of the Mhaisal irrigation project, which will irrigate 48 villages. It is expected that the tender process will be launched from January 1.

Different weightages are assigned to five major inflation baskets, including food and beverages, betel, tobacco and other Intoxicants, housing, clothing and footwear, fuel and Light. There are sub-baskets within these five like Cereals. Now, each basket is assigned a weightage, which is determin ed by the weightage assigned to each basket in these states. If a particular basket is given a high weightage in a particular state, inflation rate will be high.

IT department to implement Chips to Startups scheme at NIT, IIT Goa

The Union Government has approved Goas proposal to implement the Centres Chips to Start-ups (C2S) scheme at the National institute of technology Goa (NIT Goa) and Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IITGoa).

Minister for information technologyRohan Khaunte said that the scheme will be operational for five years at the two institutes.

The minister made the announcement at an event to distribute laptops to meritorious students from the SC and ST community. The announcement also comes at a time when Union minister of state for electronics and technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar is in the state for a series of meetings.
