Haryana using live map technology to identify accident-prone areas in state, says chief secretary

Approving a budget of about Rs 36 crore for road safety and to improve this year, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Thursday said that state administration is using live map technology to identify accident-prone areas in the State. Using this technology, a grid is automatically generated for such places on the live map and the Police get information about such places immediately. Presiding over the meeting of Road Safety Fund Management Committee, Kaushal directed that the data of live map technology should be shared with all the stakeholder Departments like Police, Public Works, Health, Transport and Urban Local Bodies Departments so that special focus can be given on such accident prone areas to overcome road accidents.

He said that changing lanes frequently by heavy vehicles is one of the major causes of accidents on highways. Therefore, sign boards should be installed on the left side of roads for the movement of passengers and heavy vehicles and this rule should also be strictly followed.

World Bank approves 150 million dollars loan for Punjab to improve state’s finances, service delivery

To help Punjab better manage its financial Resources and improve access to public Services, the on Tuesday approved a loan of 150 million US dollars to the Indian state.

The decision was approved by the World Banks Board of Executive Directors. As per the official statement, the international financial institution would support Punjabs efforts to strengthen the institutional capabilities of various government departments, manage fiscal risks, and make informed policy choices to support sustainable Growth.

The new projects will support the State’s development goals by strengthening the planning, BUDGETING and monitoring functions, and leveraging digital technology, besides increasing accountability in the public procurement systems by supporting the state-wide implementation of new legal and policy reforms.

The project will pilot two initiatives it will introduce a performance-based grants system to incentivize municipal corporations to improve service delivery; and it will demonstrate the delivery of 24×7 water supply in select areas in the cities of Amritsar and Ludhiana. It will improve water delivery systems and reduce water leakages. The success of these pilots is expected to offer a significant potential for the state-wide scale-up of improved service delivery.

Purchase of milk increases by 78 percent during last 5 years, says Himachal CM

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated a new Milkfed Plant Chakkar in Balh area of Mandi district which would increase its capacity to over 50,000 litres constructed at a cost of Rs 16.32 crore. He said this plant would process milk in a semi-automatic way, which would provide a facility of procurement of more milk from the farmers.

Addressing a public meeting at Chakkar, Thakur said that the HP Milkfed collected about 395 lakh liters of milk from 47,295 farmers of the State during the year 2021-22 and Rs 110.56 crore was provided to the farmers. He said that milk was one of the most important sources of income to the farmers of the State and during the tenure of the present , the purchase of milk has increased by 78 per cent, that is, from 219.00 lakh liters in the year 2017-18 to 395.39 lakh liters in the year 2021-22. The total turnover of Himachal Pradesh Milk Federation in the year 2017-18 was Rs.99 crore which has increased to Rs.172 crore in the year 2021-22, he added.

Thakur said that during the present government, an unprecedented increase of Rs.9 was made in the price of milk purchased from farmers, from Rs.22.90 per liter in the year 2017-18 to Rs.31.90 per liter in the year 2022-23. He said that the commission of milk societies was increased from 4.5 per cent to 5 percent and the Milk Federation was paying the best price to the milk producers in the country.

He said that Milkfed today has 11 Milk Processing Plants, one Cattle Feed Plant and one Powder Plant functioning in the State. With the commissioning of Milk Plant Chakkar (Mandi), the daily capacity of milk plots has increased from 100000 litres to 130000 litres. He said that another Milk Processing Plant of 50,000 litres capacity was under construction in Duttnagar, of which 70 percent work has been completed. He said that this plant would facilitate about thousands of farmers from Mandi, Kullu and other districts.

Varanasi: First Cultural and Tourism capital of SCO

Varanasi City is all set to be declared as the first Cultural and Tourism Capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Varanasi has been showcasing the culture and tradition of India for ages.

It will become the cultural and tourism capital of the SCO for year 2022-23, as a part of SCOs new rotating initiative that seeks to promote people-to-people ties and tourism among member countries.

Under the initiative, a city of cultural heritage from member states will be designated as cultural and tourism capital of SCO each year. Varanasi has become the first city to get the title.

City will be selected from member country, which will take over the Presidency of SCO on rotational basis.

Title will be given to cities in a bid to highlight its prominence.

The new initiative of the organisation will be implemented after the Samarkand Summit 2022. The Samarkand Summit of SCO is scheduled to be held at Samarkand, Uzbekistan from September 15-16 2022. After this initiative, India is set to take over SCOs Presidency and will host next Heads of the State summit. This is why, Varanasi has won the title of first Cultural and Tourism Capital of the SCO.

Jharkhand State demands funds for tackling malnutrition

Jharkhands Women and Child Development minister JobaManjhirequested the Centre to release pending funds and sanction more Anganwadi centres to strengthen its fight against Malnutrition. She was speaking at the zonal meet of aspirational districts, organised by theMinistry of Women and Child Development.

Manjhi said around 40% children are malnourished. Our government is fighting against it. In this regard, Chief MinisterHemant Sorenhas decided to provide eggs six days a week to Anganwadi centres. However, lack of funds is posing to be a major challenge in the mission against malnutrition, she said. A sum of Rs 254 crore is approved for Anganwadi schemes in Jharkhand.

Bihar: CM Nitish Kumar launches welfare projects worth Rs 415 crore

Chief ministerNitish Kumar launched different projects worth about Rs 415 crore of the backward classes & extremely backward classes welfare department at an event held at Samvad hall in the CM secretariat.

The projects include construction of nine other backward classes (OBC) girls residential +2 schools at the cost of Rs 341 crore, construction of nine OBC welfare hostels at the cost of Rs 59 crore and inauguration of three newly-builtJannayak Karpoori Thakurhotel buildings, built at the cost of Rs 13.94 crore.
The CM laid foundation for the first two projects through remote control from the Samvad hall and inaugurated the third project three hostel buildings.

Chhattisgarh uses solar power to brighten public health

TheChhattisgarhgovernment has betted big on non-conventional energy sources to ramp up its healthcare system especially in the rural areas. The government has since 2010 set up solar panels in 1,400 government Health centers and hospitals.

Non-availability of electricity or low voltage affecting refrigeration and storage of critical vaccine is no more an issue for all these health centres that get 24×7 electricity supply.

The need to store and refrigerate life drugs came into focus during the Covid-19 pandemic, he said.

He said, under theNational Health Mission, a total of 1,432 government health centers and hospitals now have solar power Plants across the state with a total capacity of 457 MW. It generates 66,72,200 kWh of electricity per year.

Madhya Pradesh government plans food processing units to help garlic farmers

The , after reporting huge loss ofgarliccrops, is emphasizing on setting up micro Food Processing units to minimize wastage, along with helping the farmers get right price of their agricultural produce and generating more EMPLOYMENT.

Around 10,000 farmers of Indore had sown garlic crops in around 15,000 hectare areas but failed to get desired return of the same as it was also a case across the state.

The state government is emphasizing on different steps to minimize the crop damage and loss to the farmers by adopting aforesaid steps.Under PMFMEscheme, we urging progressive farmers of the district to install micro food processing units while they are also being educated about grading of the yield to get the price along with storing it in cold storage as there is subsidy on it as well.

Gujarat government to allot Rs 17.10 crore assistance to 156 municipalities

TheGujarat governmenthas decided to provide financial assistance to 156 municipalities for cleaning works post heavy rainfall and flood situations in the state.

For this purpose, the government has given in-principle approval to allot Rs 17.10 crore to 156 municipalities of the state.

This grant will be used to provide facilities in all 156 municipalities of the state on an immediate basis at the primary stage.
