Public sand mining sites to be declared in Punjab, says Hayer

ThePunjabmining department will soon introduce public mining sites across the state to ensure that people can purchase sand from such sites by paying only Rs 5.50 per square feet.

Mining and geology minister Gurmeet SinghMeet Hayersaid on Monday that the public mining sites will help in checking any malpractice to jack up the prices of sand and give the freedom of choice to people to buy sand from the source of choice and at price of choice.

The chief minister would shortly announce details of all such mining sites in various districts and the first such public mining site would be inaugurated soon, he added.

Himachal fails to pay Rs 80 cr for healthcare schemes

Two flagship schemes of the Centre and the Ayushman Bharat (AB) and Mukhya Mantri Himachal Health Care Yojana (HIMCARE) are ailing due to the non-payment of around Rs 80 crore to private clinics and Rogi Kalyan Samitis (RKS) at government hospitals for the past several months.

Uttarakhand: Now, cattle smugglers to be booked under Gangster Act

To curb “illegal transportation and smuggling of cattle, particularly cows”,Uttarakhand policewill now bookcattle smugglersunder theGangster Act, state Police headquarters informed.

Under the UPCP Act cases, if the accused are found to be committing the aforementioned crimes in a gang as part of an organised crime or are repeat offenders, then they would also be booked under the Gangster Act so that it acts as a deterrent. Directions have been given to SSPs and SPs in 13 districts,” said Murugesan, adding, “Once accused are booked under the Gangster Act, police will start attaching their properties accumulated illegally with the crime .” A total of 214 cases were registered under the UPCP Act and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act in 2021.

UP govt to honour meritorious students

In its ongoing pursuit to enhance the quality of Education in Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to organise a Nipun Samman (brilliant achievement) ceremony every month to honour meritorious students. The selected students will be honoured in this ceremony by their parents and dignitaries.

These students will play a supportive role for the rest of the students. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to accelerate various activities in the state to ensure the effective implementation of the Skill India Mission. Specific benchmarks are also established for these activities to meet smart targets by 2025-26.

Within the Skill India Mission framework, the aim is to raise the Learning level of students studying in classes 1-3 and bring them up to class level.

The significance of encouraging all children and their parents to help their children become skilled students and the school to become a capable school will be published and motivated.

‘Shodh Shuddhi’ project: Universities in Bihar to use software to check plagiarism

In order to improve and raise the standard of research, state’s universities have geared up to use a much more stringentanti-plagiarism softwareto conduct checks on all thesis submissions and dissertations. Under the UGC’sinformation and library Network(INFLIBNET) scheme, around 15 higher Education institutions in the state have been provided plagiarism detection Software (PDS) through the’Shodh Shuddhi’ project.
Many universities have also already started screening the theses for plagiarism before accepting them for evaluation.

Shodh Chakra supports the university to collect and organise the entire life cycle of the scholars registered for the research programme. It is an interactive dashboard to keep a record of all the communications that happen between the research guide (faculty member), scholars and the research administration.
