A major government survey under ‘Nav BharatSaksharta Karyakram’, launched in the state to identify illiterate Population over 15 years of age around 11 months ago, has not even started in 36 districts.
The survey has been taken up by using the survey app. As per the data available with the , nine districts – Moradabad, Sitapur, Azamgarh, Prayagraj, Farrukhabad, Rampur, Unnao, Faizabad and Bulandshahr – are at the forefront of the survey. However, the progress has been found to be slow in the 30 districts and is yet to get started in the remaining 36.
The centrally sponsored ‘New India Literacy Program’ (NILP) for implementation during five years from 2022-23 to 2026-27 started on April 1, 2022. The programme aims to cover five crore learners during the five years under the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy component. The programme has five objectives: foundational literacy and numeracy, critical life skills, vocational skills development, basic Education and continuing education.
Various steps are being taken by the government for the effective implementation of the programme. The first step is to identify the beneficiaries and volunteer teachers. Surveys of beneficiaries and volunteer teachers (VTs) are being conducted by states/UTs using schools as base.
