As part of efforts to make the state self-reliant in Oxygen manufacturing, chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday unveiled the AP Industrial Gases and Medical Oxygen Manufacturing Policy 2021-22.
The policy has been designed to ramp up oxygen manufacturing capacity in the state from the existing 360 metric tonnes (MT) to 700 MT. It targets to set up at least 50 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen Plants in both captive model (in hospitals) and the non-captive model.
The chief minister has decided to strengthen in view of the exponential surge in demand for medical oxygen, which has touched 600-700 MT during the second wave. The state is presently producing just around 364 MT and the rest is being met through supplies from Odisha, West Bengal and Karnataka.
