The Primary Forest Produce under the Chhattisgarh State Minor Produce Cooperative Federation Ltd will procure the kodo, kutki and ragi (minor Millets) from farmers on support price across the state.
The Cabinet took the decision on February 25, 2021.
Chhattisgarh launched a Millet Mission on September 14, 2021 to make the state a millet hub in the country.
Principal Secretary (Forest and Climate-change”>Climate Change) Manoj Pingua said that earlier, the procurement was limited to Scheduled Areas, mainly tribal blocks.
Kabeerdham, Rajnandgaon and Balod districts are also producing kodo, kutki and ragi. But these areas do not fall under the tribal-dominated areas, he said.
To facilitate the tribal farmers in other districts, the extended benefit of procurement on government support price of the minor millets has been handed over to the Primary Forest Produce Cooperative Society, he added.
