Jagan urges US-Indian doctors to help Andhra in healthcare

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has requested members of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) to participate in the AP governments effort to provide world-class healthcare facilities for the common man.

Addressing the inaugural session of the Global Health Summit organised by AAPI in Visakhapatnam, the Chief Minister said officials would work out collaborations in various fields for training the health staff at various levels, as also in getting the latest technology and treatment procedures and guidance in improving the healthcare facilities.

Expressing his happiness that the event was organised in Visakhapatnam, the Chief Minister said he was sure this platform brought together the best brains in the field of health.

Nitin Gadkari to launch app for public to report potholes across Goa

The app for the public to report potholes across the state will be launched on Thursday by Union minister for road transport and highways,Nitin Gadkari, who will be inGoa.

PWDministerNilesh Cabralsaid that once potholes are reported, the first priority will be given to repair potholes which have been created due to deterioration of the road due to poor quality of work.

The Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board (HSHDB) will celebrate two-day Sarasvati Mahotsav on January 25 and 26 in Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra, respectively. Dhuman Singh, vice-chairman of the HSHDB, said the inaugural ceremony of the Mahotsav would be held at Adi Badri, Yamunanagar, on January 25, and the closing ceremony on January 26 at Sarsavati Tirtha in Pehowa (Kurukshetra).

A painting and drawing competition on the theme Sarasvati will be organised for schoolchildren on both days. Cultural events will be organised at Sarasvati Tirtha on January 26.

Punjab implements vehicle scrapping policy; Offers tax rebate up to 25% on new vehicles

Implementing the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways scrapping policy, Punjab Cabinet on Friday decided to provide a tax rebate up to 25 percent to the owners of scrapped automobiles on the registration of new vehicles.

As per the policy, the owners of transport vehicles will be eligible for a motor vehicle tax rebate of up to 15 per cent, while the owners of non-transport vehicles can avail a rebate up to 25 per cent under section 13(3) of the Punjab Motor Vehicle Act, 1924.

In a major decision, the Cabinet has approved a policy for the disbursement of Discretionary Grants by the Chief Minister and his Cabinet of Ministers for the creation and repair of existing basic Infrastructure, improving the Environment, and fulfilling the basic needs of the poor.As per the decision, the Chief Minister will have Rs five crore in his discretionary quota, while the Cabinet Ministers will have Rs 1.5 crore each during the financial year.

Himachal CM urges Union government to enhance disaster fund for state

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday urged the Union Government to enhance the disaster fund for Himachal Pradesh as the State is prone to various types of natural disasters due to difficult topographical and climatic conditions.

He was virtually addressing the inauguration function regarding setting up of two Doppler Weather Radar for the State, virtually from New Delhi by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India Dr. Jitendra Singh. These Doppler Weather Radars have been established at Jot in Chamba district and another at Murari Devi in Mandi district of the State.

The CM said that one Doppler Weather Radar was installed at Kufri in Shimla district on 15th January, 2021 and with the commissioning of these additional two radars, about 70 per cent area of the State will be covered for Weather forecast. He said that still about 30 per cent area of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti district will not be covered under these Radars.

Centre nod to procure mandua, Uttarakhand’s indigenous grain

Accepting a proposal of theUttarakhandgovernment, the Centre has permitted the procurement of 9.6 million kg ofmandua(finger millet) in the first list for the crop year 2022-23.

Grown in the hills of Uttarakhand, mandua is a major source of earning for farmers. The minimum support price of mandua is fixed at Rs 3,574 per quintal. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami termed it a major project, which could prove a “game changer” for the farmers. “We would like to thank the Union Government for accepting the proposal and now it is time our teams worked in coordination to ensure proper procurement of mandua,” he said.

In the first phase, the procurement scheme would be implemented in the mountainous areas of the state on the fixed minimum support price from the farmers of Almora and Pauri districts under the pilot scheme. In the first phase, the purchased mandua would be distributed under the in the districts in the plains — Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Dehradun and Nainital. Around eight lakh families enrolled under the National Food Security Scheme of the above districts would be benefited from the scheme.

Follow 5Es to check road accidents: CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to follow the ‘5E’ formula of Education, enforcement, engineering, emergency care and Environment to curb road accidents.

He also termed as “worrying” the fact that while COVID-19 claimed 23,600 lives over three years in UP, road accidents led to the loss of 21,200 lives in just one year 2022.

The will be carrying out a month-long campaign on road safety from January 5 to February 4. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the responsibility for road safety was not just limited to one department and community effort was needed to prevent accidents.

Other than poor road engineering, over speeding, overloading, not using safety equipment and driving in inebriated state were the major causes of road accidents.

Most cases take place in large cities like Kanpur Nagar, Agra, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Bulandshahr and Mathura.

The chief minister said that efforts should be made to focus on national highways and expressways linked with these cities. He said a task force should be set up to check overloading.

Rs 461 cr allocated under Chief Minister Drought Relief Scheme

Rs 461 crore has been allocated to all the districts under the Chief Minister’s Drought Relief Scheme. The department is going to give its visiting card to the farmer so that he can be assured that the is with him.

Badal said to make the concept of Smart Village a reality, there is a need to make co-ordination with all the concerned departments. He asked the office bearers to cooperate with those farmers who are not able to reach the Pragya Kendra and are not getting the benefit of the scheme by taking cooperation from Kisan Mitra. Talking about linking the deprived farmers with the schemes, he said that a list of such farmers should be prepared so that the benefits of the schemes could reach them. In 3 years of Government, we are reaching 30 lakh farmer families of the State, this is a big achievement, but the target is to reach 5800000 farmers and ensure the contribution up to 20 per cent in the GDP of the State, he added .

The Minister said that more than five lakh new members have joined the cooperative, monitoring should also be done to see how active the new members are in the cooperative. While addressing 129 new officers, he said that the Government has high hopes from them and the senior officials should share their experience so that they can perform better in the field of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture. He said that the commitment in the department should be visible from top to bottom, so that we can play our role honestly in fulfilling the dreams of Birsa farmers.

Maternal mortality rate registers 28% drop in Bihar

Recent data released by the registrar general of India showed that maternal mortality rate (MMR) has dropped in the country, including in Bihar, when compared to the previous years. However,Biharlagged behind the national Average of 97 with anMMRof 118.

According to the World Health Organisation, maternal death is the death of a woman during pregnancy or within 42 days of the termination of pregnancy, from cause related to pregnancy or its management, and not accidental or incidental causes.

MMR is the number of maternal deaths during a given time period per one lakh live births during the same time period.

As per the special bulletin of sample registration system released by the registrar general of India on Tuesday for 2018-20, Indias MMR was 97. Kerala was the best with an MMR of 19, followed byMaharashtra(33), (43), Andhra Pradesh (45) and Tamil Nadu (54). Among the states witnessing maximum deaths of Women per one lakh live birth was Assam which had the highest MMR of 195, followed by Madhya Pradesh (173), Uttar Pradesh (167), Chhattisgarh (137) and Odisha (119). Bihar was placed at sixth among the 19 states and union territories with an MMR of 118.

In 2014-16, the average MMR of the country was 130.
This shows there has been reduction of nearly 25% in the deaths on an average. Data for Bihar for 2014-16 showed that MMR was 165 and it came down to 118 for 2018-20.

The drop has been nearly 28%, slightly more than the national average.

MP receives budget allcation of Rs 172 cr

This year, the state has received a budget allocation of Rs 172 crore 79 lakh under the public development scheme of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs. With this amount, development works are being done along with Education in minority dominated areas.

Out of the allocated amount, funds are also being spent on the upgradation of Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. Along with the construction of a 180-seater girls’ hostel in Bhopal’s residential school Arif Nagar and Government Unani College, smart class is also being constructed in Government Polytechnic College, Khandwa. Out of the total amount spent in the scheme, 60 percent is the share of the Centre and 40 percent is the share of the state.
