Institutes ink MoU to work for Uttarakhand’s integrated development

Two prestigious institutes – Dr RS ToliaUttarakhandAcademy of AdministrationNainitaland Indian Institute Of Management Kashipur – signed a MoU to coordinate and dedicate their Resources towards integrated development of Uttarakhand.

As per the MoU, both institutes agreed to coordinate and dedicate their resources towards integrated development of Uttarakhand. The possibility of helping each other through “faculty exchange programme” and “capacity building” was discussed at length. Both institutes also agreed to share their strategic resources.

Increase credit-deposit ratio to 60%: Uttar Pradesh chief secretary DS Mishra

During the state-level bankers committee meeting held on Wednesday, chief secretaryDS Mishrasaid that the credit-deposit ration should be increased from the current 40% to 60% inMadhyanchal, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand in the next four months.

Along with this, he said,

there is a need to focus on aspirational districts, blocks and cities and added that districts which are lagging in crop Insurance along with other kinds of insurance must be pulled ahead. Loan melas should be organised in districts so that maximum number of people can take advantage of schemes, he said.

During the meeting it was informed that in the quarter ended September, the total deposits in the state were Rs 14.31 lakh crore against Rs 13.13 lakh crore in September 2021. The advance in September 2022 was 7.51 lakh crore, which is Rs 84,449 crore more than last year. The Banking business in the current financial year saw an increase of Rs 62,166 crore, taking the business to Rs 21.90

lakh crore this year.

In the current financial year, UP saw an improvement in banking with appointment of 10,034 bank mitra and 7,664 bank sakhis and addition of 207 ATMs. Against a target of loans of Rs 2,94,988 crore in this financial year, loans of Rs 1,42,537 crore or 48% have been disbursed till September 2022.

Jkhand to roll out smart agro village scheme soon

The state Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture department is soon going to launch smart agro village scheme to develop several pockets into model agri-centres which will promote latest farming techniques and boost farmers income.

Local MLAs have been asked to recommend sites for the scheme in their respective constituencies.

Jharkhand has 81 MLAs of which the minister

said that so far they have received recommendations from 36 law makers.

Detailing on the scheme, he said, Under this project, we aim to develop the identified hamlet into a model and zone. Out here, all the best practices of agriculture and its allied activities will be implemented to encourage other hamlets to take up agriculture. The idea is to promote such models of agriculture through community participation so that farmers income can

increase, productivity gets enhanced and Jharkhands overall agri-capacity gets a boost.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar launches Ganga water supply scheme at Rajgir

Calling it path breaking, a marvel of engineering, avant-garde and outcome of Himalayan resolve of the , CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated theGangaJal Aapurti Yojana (Ganga Water Supply Scheme) atRajgir.

The first phase of the scheme will ensure uninterrupted

drinking water supply to Rajgir, Bodh Gaya and Gaya towns. The CM is to launch the Gaya and Bodh Gaya Plants on Monday. Nawada is in the second phase of the project.

The novelty of the scheme lies in the fact that floodwater from

the Ganga is being lifted, transported in a special pipeline to 151 kms, stored in huge reservoirs, treated in state-of-the-art water treatment plant and then supplied as potable water to households and institutions in these cities.

Chhattisgarh to make its ration shops sustainable, profitable

Chhattisgarhhas initiated the process for transforming the fair price shops across the state into sustainable and profitable model shops instead of letting them run on a commission basis.

If everything goes right, the fair price shops will start selling FMCG, grocery goods, Banking, postal and mobile recharging Services from fiscal 2023-24.

As many as 13655 ration shops

are being operated across the state under the Public Distribution System and these shops only deal with rice,gramand salt. Once these shops are converted into model shops, they will be able to sell all kinds of grocery goods.
There are 72,58,241 ration card holders in the state and over 2.62 crore people are linked with these ration cards. In this way, a major chunk of consumers will be connected to the model ration shops.

Craftsmen of MP honoured with Shilp Guru and National Award

Mohammad Yusuf Khatri of Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh has been awarded the Shilp Guru Award for the year 2017 for the conservation of the legacy of Bagh Print handicraft.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal honoured him with Gold Medal and Tamra Patra at Vigyan Bhawan Delhi. Shilp Guru Awards and National Awards for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 were presented at the ceremony.

AYUSH Minister and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, announced to expandNorth Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR) in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.

NEIAFMR will be expanded by developing new within the campus.

This initiative was launched in line with the vision of developing AYUSH sector in Arunachal Pradesh and entire northeast region.

Development of additional infrastructure at NEIAFMR will require an Investment of about Rs 53.72 crores.

Under the developmental initiative, a new Ayurveda College comprising of 30 seats and a new Ayurveda Hospital comprising of 60 beds will

be established.

Thus, this initiative would be creating a direct EMPLOYMENT for 86 posts.

NEIAFMR is an autonomous National Institute under the AYUSH Ministry. NEIFM at Pasighat was established to conduct systematic research, documentation and validation of traditional Health practices and folk medicine of the region. Institute was established with the

objective of functioning as an apex research centre for all aspect of Folk Medicine and creating an interface between scientific research, survey, validation & documentation of folk medicine practices and traditional healers.

17 smart city projects for Guwahati at 887 crore soon

The Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL) will begin 17 projects, including the Brahmaputra riverfront development and integrated traffic management system, soon in the city at a cost of over Rs 887 crore.

A number of offices like the Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioners office, Guwahati Police commissioners office and the Guwahati commissioners office will have to be shifted from their present location to different parts of the city to accommodate the riverfront makeover work. The government has already identified new locations and preliminary work is on.

Under the integrated traffic management system, automatic traffic signal lights andCCTVcameras to monitor traffic rule violations will be installed across the city. This was announced by the urban affairs ministerAshok Singhallast week.

The development of the Borsola beel was the first project on the GSCL list. A total allotment of Rs 80 crore was made for the development of the beel, but the project was shelved.

Odisha registers a drop in fertility rate: Survey

The latestNational Family Health Survey(NFHS-5) released on Wednesday revealed that the totalfertility rateinOdishahas gone down to 1.8 (2020-21) from 2.1 (2015-16).

The TFR (children per woman) of Odisha is lower than the national Average of 2.

Experts said the trend indicated increased awareness among people about family planning methods and a preference to limit offspring to one or two.

The report said the Percentage of adoption of any kind of contraception (overall) has risen to 74.1 per cent from 57.3 per cent in 2015-16. The rate is better than the national average of 66.7 per cent.

Significantly, the use of oral pill as a method of contraception in

Odisha has gone down to 10.8 per cent from 12 per cent while there has been a rise in other forms of family planning.
Pill use has gone up nationally from 4.1 per cent to 5.1 per cent.

Female sterilisation (tubectomy) in the state has marginally gone down from 28.2 per cent to 28 per cent.

The rate of condom use in the state has gone up to 5.5 per cent from 3.4 per cent. Nationally, the rate has gone up from 5.6 per cent to 9.5 per cent. Male sterilisation (vasectomy) in Odisha has gone up marginally from 0.2 per cent to 0.3 per cent.

Tamil Nadu sex ratio drops to 878 from 954

The sex ratio at birth inTamil Naduhas dropped to 878 in 2020-21 from 954 in 2016-17, according to theNational Family Health Surveyreleased by theInternational Institute of Population Sciences. State officials contest this figure, which is lower than the country’s Average.

India’s average has risen to 929 from 919.

While public health experts raised concerns about possible increase in sex determination and selective abortions, senior state health officials said the survey drastically underestimates sex ratio as the sample size is relatively small. Scientists from theSchool of Public Health, SRM University, gathered information for the survey from 27,929 households, 25,650 Women and

3,372 men in two phases – from January 6 to March 21, 2020, and from December 21, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
