Jharkhand govt preparations for another Shravan sans devotees

With the holy month of Shravan starting on Sunday, the administration is making extra preparations to enforce Covid-19 protocols.

As per Hindu beliefs, Shravan is an auspicious month to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Devotees in lakhs visit prominent shrines across the

state during this time of the year and especially on Mondays. But keeping the Covid-19 situation in mind, the has continued its ban on large-scale religious congregations, notwithstanding the demands of several BJP leaders to reopen temples for devotees.

There will be no kanwar yatra andShrawani Melain the state this year due toCovidpandemic. The devotees will have to offer prayers at home and only priests will be allowed to perform rituals in temples.

Important temples which used to attract large number of devotees with kanwar in the state during the month of Shrawan were Garibnath Dham (Muzaffarpur), Kusheswar Sthan (Darbhanga), Harihar Nath Temple (Sonepur) and Bihta temple.

According to Hindu traditions, Shrawan is the dearest month of Lord Shiva and that is why devotees hold special prayers in different temples.

Chhattisgarhchief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that maximum number of citizens should be included in theCooperatives Movementforfarmers. Various cooperative activities are being conducted in the state in larger interest of farmers. State government is making consistent efforts to benefit maximum number of people through cooperatives.

Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) commissioned teams arrived from Delhi to conduct ODTwater plussurvey. The survey is part of the Swachh Survekshan 2021 andBhopalis vying to improve its position on the heels of recent, ease of living survey.

Recently, newSTPhas been operation along the Upper Lake. The team inspected other sewage treatment Plants at Char Imli, Bawdiyakalan, Jail Road among others. Total capacity of the plants and the treatment of sewage was inspected.

Gujarat govt to introduce new act for rented properties

Adopting the government of India’s Model Tenancy Act 2021, theGujaratgovernment plans to introduce a new tenancy act for the state to replace the Bombay (now Gujarat) Rents, Hotel andLodging House Rates Control Act, 1947.

Although the new act will be structured to ensure impartiality to both owners and tenants of properties, the new act is expected to shield property owners from unwarranted harassment by tenants.

The new law is expected to facilitate the Growth ofrented propertiesin the state. The existing laws give less protection to owners, who are apprehensive of renting out properties as they fear harassment by tenants who do not vacate the premises.

The new act will have a provision to establish a state-level authority to regulate the rented property market.

The model tenancy act makes it mandatory for the landlord and tenant to sign a written agreement which specifies the rent, period of tenancy and other related terms. The will establish a body on the lines ofRERA(Real Estate Regulation Authority) to regulate all rented property transactions.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik re-urged the Centre to withdraw the 18% GST on Kendu leaves for the larger interest of poor and tribal people associated with Kendu leaves trade in the State.

Imposition of GST (18%) on Kendu leaves is adversely affecting the Kendu leaves trade. This in turn affects the livelihoods of Kendu leaves pluckers, binders and seasonal workers and implementation of social security and welfare schemes for them, Patnaik wrote to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is Chairperson of the GST Council.

Patnaik said the Kendu (Tendu) leaf, which is a Minor Forest Produce, is the financial backbone of eight lakh Kendu (Tendu) leaf pluckers, binders and seasonal workers of Odisha. The pluckers and workers are mostly tribal and Women belonging to the poorest of the poor of the Society.

The tribal people collect the leaves as part of their rights defined under . In the interest of a large section of people dependent upon Kendu leaves for their livelihood, the CM requested Sitharaman once again to withdraw the imposition of GST on the trade.
