The Union Minister for Women & Child Development, inaugurated Nutri Garden to denote the starting of Poshan Maah 2021 at All India Institute of Ayurveda.

Nutri kitchen garden/Nutri backyard is a

UK-India Economic and Financial Dialogue

The eleventh India-United Kingdom Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) was held virtually with the Finance Minister leading the Indian delegation.

Highlights:

The dialogue covers, among other things, economic cooperation discussions on multilateral issues, including and COP26.

Atlas of Mortality and Economic Losses from Weather, Climate and Water Extremes (1970-2019) was released on September 1, 2021.

According to the atlas, developed nations incurred the bulk of $3.6tn in economic losses because of severe weather events in past five decades.

High death tolls in poorer countries have been partly reduced by better evacuation.

According to scientists of UNs world meteorological organisation, in past 50 years, number of weather-related disasters had increased fivefold across the globe.

In this period, death toll of 115 people and more than $200m was lost every day. The death toll was the result of Climate Change, more extreme weather

and improved reporting.

In this period, total losses amounted to $3.6tn and 2m deaths.

For instance, estimated cost of Hurricane Ida, fifth-largest hurricane to make landfall in US, could be about $80bn.

Three out of 10 worlds costliest disasters occurred in 2017 alone namely- hurricanes Harvey (cost-$96.9bn), Maria (cost-$69.4bn) and Irma (cost-$58.2bn).

Ayush Ministry launched the campaign called AYUSH AAPKE DWAR from some 45 locations across India.

Campaign was launched by Minister of State for Ayush from Ayush Bhawan by distributing medicinal Plants to staff.

About 21 states are participating in launch activities in which more than 2 lakh saplings will be distributed across India.

AYUSH AAPKE DWAR campaign was launched with the aim of distributing medicinal plant saplings to 75 lakh households in India in one year. These medicinal plants include Ashoka, Tejpatta, Stevia, Ashwagandha, Jatamansi, Giloy/Guduchi, Shatavari, Guggulu, Lemongrass, Tulsi, Sarpagandha, Brahmi, Kalmegh and Amla.

Under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, various other programs were launched such as- launch of the Y-Break App and distribution of Prophylactic Ayush Drugs.

AYUSH Ministry is dubbed as Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy. It was set up on November 9, 2014 to develop Education, research and propagation of indigenous alternative medicine systems across India. This ministry was renamed as Ministry of AYUSH on April 13, 2021. This ministry includes seven traditional systems of healthcare.

AYUSH ministry runs various healthcare programs, with primary focus on rural Population. It forms an integral backbone of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Till date, about 50000 children have been enrolled in Homeopathy for Healthy Child.

Over 6% of Indian industries don’t follow green norms

More than 6% of Indias operational industries (4,40,989) currently do not comply with one or the other environmental standards, risking air, water and soils due to emissions and discharge of effluents carrying various pollutants, shows a compilation on non-compliant industries and relevant actions taken against them over the years by different statepollutioncontrol boards.

According to the compilation, shared by the Environment ministry in response to a question in the Parliament during the pre-recess phase of the budget session last month, Punjab has the highest number (6,293) of such polluting industries followed by Gujarat (4,605),Rajasthan(3,796),Maharashtra(3,043) and Jharkhand (1,760).
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the country’s national pollution watchdog, which has power to impose environmental compensation (EC) on such industries that violate various green norms under different laws, had imposed over Rs 13.4 crore of EC on 34 polluting chemical/Fertilizers and cement industries and collected over Rs 12.3 crore from them during 2018-22. The EC is imposed against the polluters for contaminating/ damaging the environment.

Daily UPI transactions jump 50% to 36 crore: RBI

Reserve Bank Of India governor Shaktikanta Das said payments through UPI (unified payment interface) have grown exponentially in the past 12 months with daily transactions crossing 36 crore, which is up 50 per cent from 24 crore in February 2022.

While the UPI has facilitated digital payments to retail outlets, kiranas, street vendors etc, the Bharat bill payment system (BBPS) has ensured Migration of bill payments from cash/cheques to digital mode and the national electronic toll collection (NETC) system has helped in migration of the toll payments to digital mode with enhancing efficiency in terms of reduced waiting time at toll plazas, the governor said.

The national automated clearing house (NACH) system has also facilitated direct benefit transfers (DBT) payments digitally and eliminated leakages in the system.

Nitin Gadkari unveiled first methanol run buses in Bengaluru

The first methanol-powered buses in Bengaluru will be unveiled by Union Minister for Road and Transport, Nitin Gadkari. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), , Indian Oil Company (IOC), and Ashok Leyland are working together to carry out the initiative, which aims to lower the level of pollutants.

Methanol can be produced through the reaction of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen, which are also known as syngas. The syngas can be produced from various sources such as natural gas, coal, or Biomass.

Assets of Rs 1 lakh crore seized, Rs 71 crore disposed of by taxmen: Govt

Belgium to become second EU country to recognize Buddhism

Belgiumis expected to officially recognize after the federal government approves a draft law on Friday, opening the door to federal funding, official delegates and school classes.

TheBelgian Buddhist Unionhad requested recognition in March 2006. The union estimates the number of Buddhists in Belgium at 150,000. The only other EU country where Buddhism is recognized is Austria.

There are currently

six worship Services officially recognized in Belgium: theRoman Catholic, the Orthodox, theIsraelite, the Anglican, the Protestant Evangelical and the Islamic, recognized in 1974.

Buddhism would be recognized as “a non-denominational philosophical organization” alongside organized Secularism, recognized since 2002. It would receive federal funding of up to 1.2 million euros.

Taraqqiati Scheme: Computerization and Digitization of Wakf Records

The Ministry implements Qaumi Waqf Board Taraqqiati Scheme (QWBTS) under which financial assistance to State Waqf Boards (SWBs) towards computerization and digitization of Waqf records.

Under the scheme the Ministry also supports the SWBs for deployment of manpower viz. Assistant Programmer, Survey Assistant, Accountant and Legal Assistant, setting up of Video Conferencing Facility, Centralized Computing Facility (CCF) & Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Solution for better administration of SWBs.

A dedicated online portal called WAMSI (Waqf Assets Management System of India) has been developed by this Ministry for computerization & digitization of records of waqf properties and Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping of waqf properties to prevent encroachment under Qaumi Waqf Board Taraqqiati Scheme (QWBTS).

Joint study on India-Bangladesh trade pact to be finalised soon: Commerce Ministry

India and Bangladesh will soon finalise a joint study on the prospects of entering into a bilateral , which aims at further strengthening economic ties between the countries, the commerce ministry said.

Both sides held extensive discussions on a variety of issues including the development of RAILWAY Infrastructure, port infrastructure, joint study on Comprehensive Economic PARTNERSHIP Agreement (CEPA), Border Haats, regional connectivity through multi-modal transportation, harmonisation of standards, mutual recognition agreement.

CEPA is a kind of comprehensive free trade pact under which two trading

partners significantly reduce or eliminate customs duties on the maximum number of goods traded between them. They also liberalise norms to facilitate Services“>Trade in Services and boost investments.

Major exports from India to Bangladesh include Cotton, Cereals, fuel, vehicle parts and machinery and mechanical appliances.

Swiss: First Airline to Use Solar Fuel

Lufthansa and Swiss have started strategic cooperation with the manufacturer Synhelion for market launch.

Technology has been developed for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from sources by Synhelion, a spinoff from the Swiss Institute of Technology in Switzerland.

Under this deal, the Lufthansa Group and Swiss will help in developing the commercial fuel production facilities in Spain that have been planned by Synhelion.
