Uttarakhand: Char Dham yatra sees highest footfall since 2019

TheChar Dham yatrato the four Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri has recorded its highest-ever devotee turnout this year. The four shrines have been visited by 33.46 lakh pilgrims so far, as per data provided by the .

In 2019, the shrines had recorded a maximum footfall of 32.41 lakh devotees. In 2020 and 2021, the yatra was curtailed due to the Covid

outbreak and saw footfall of around 3 lakh and 5 lakh pilgrims respectively. The devotee footfall was 26.22 lakh in 2018, 21.93 lakh in 2017 and 14.05 lakh in 2016. This year, the turnout is expected to rise further as there is still a month of the yatra left.

As per official data, this year, the Badrinath shrine has been visited by the maximum of 12.63 lakh pilgrims so far, followed by Kedarnath, which has recorded a turnout of 11.63 lakh. Gangotri shrine in Uttarkashi saw 5.31 lakh visitors, while 4.16 lakh pilgrims have visited the Yamunotri temple so far. In 2019, Badrinath had recorded a maximum footfall of 12.45 lakh, followed by 10.02 lakh in Kedarnath, 5.30 lakh in Gangotri and 4.66 lakh in Yamunotri.

UP implementing AMRUT projects on a war footing

The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, which was launched to provide and facilities in cities and towns, is being implemented on a war footing in Uttar Pradesh as out of 279 projects sanctioned for the state, 211 have been completed at a cost of Rs 5,288.29 crore.

Under the water supply scheme, 8.40 lakh domestic connections have been given while the work on 2.04 lakh connections is still pending. At the same time, a target of 8.38 lakh connections has been set for sewer connections, out of which 5.73 lakh domestic connections have been given and 2.65 lakh connections are in progress.

Govt providing plants at Rs 5 to Rs 15 to boost horticulture

In a bid to boost in Jharkhand, the State Government is giving saplings to the people from its nursery at the lowest rate. The Department of Forest, Environment and Climate-change”>Climate Change, Jharkhand has issued information that Plants of different species have been kept ready for sale in the departmental nursery. The plants are available from Rs 5 to Rs 15.

In nurseries located in Ranchi, Jamshedpur,Seraikela and Deoghar, people can get normal plants for Rs 5 and big plants and Kalmi trees for Rs 15. The real motive behind selling saplings at cheap rates is also to make people aware of planting trees in and around their homes and making the environment healthy.

At 69.2 yrs, life expectancy in state less than natl avg

Life expectancy of people inBiharat 69.2 years is less than the national Average of 69.7 years. Also, Bihar and Jharkhand are the only exceptions in the country where life expectancy of female is less than the male.

As per the sample registration survey (SRS)-based Abridged Life Tables (2015-19) released by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner earlier this week, while the life expectancy at the time of birth in India was 69.7 years, it was 69.2 years in Bihar, which ranked sixth from the bottom.

Delhi and Kerala topped the list with a life expectancy of 75.9 years and 75.2 years, respectively. Chhattisgarh was at the bottom. However, compared to its own previous data, Bihar has seen a marginal increase in life expectancy. For instance, for the period between 2014-18, life expectancy in the state was 69.1 years and then it increased to 69.2 years for 2015-19.

Bihar and Jharkhand were the only exceptions where the female life expectancy at the time of birth was less than the male Population. The other other big states and union territories had recorded more life expectancy for female, which on an average was two

Govts ambitious scheme for girls

The Mukhyamatri Noni Sashaktikaran Sahayata Yojana is an ambitious scheme of the Chhattisgarh government in which Rs 20,000 is credited directly in the bank account of girls from workers’ families for self-EMPLOYMENT and higher Education.

Give priority to local youth in employment: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that special attention should be given on top priority to the EMPLOYMENT of local youth at the time of establishment of industries and expansion of work of old industrial units.

For promotion, the State Government is extending full assistance as per the provisions of the Industry Policy on setting up of new units in various sectors. He said that eligible children of tribals should be given employment opportunities in these units in tribal-dominated areas.

Info panel imposed fines in just 6% cases

13,188 appeals and complaints in Rajasthans Information Commission. SatarkNagrik Sangathanhas compiled a report on the performance of information commissions across the country based on information accessed under the RTI Act.

Analysis of the figures for 24 ICs (which provided information on both the number of cases disposed and the number of cases where penalty was imposed) shows that penalty was imposed in just 3% of the cases disposed of by ICs, the report stated.

Drones to map 700 villages in Assam

TheAssam governmenthas launched the process of mapping 700 odd villages through drones, which in future could help in demarcating borders with other states in the region.
There are around 22,724 villages in Assam, of which 700 had no maps so far and so posed hurdles in executing government projects and buying and selling of land. The project, assisted by theSurvey of India, started this week at No. 1 Singimari village under Hajo revenue circle in lower AssamsKamrup district. Once the neighbouring states settle the inter-state border dispute with Assam, drones will also demarcate the borders of frontier villages once for all, government sources said.

While the Survey of India has given the drones for the exercise, the rest of the work is being done by the Kamrup administration and Assam Survey. The size of No. 1 Singimari is 2.98 sq km, but it may take about a month to complete the survey here.

Odisha govt releases Rs 50 crore for Konark heritage area development project

The has approved the release of Rs 50 crore for theKonarkHeritage AreaDevelopment Project, which was proposed for the overall development of Konark into a world-class tourism destination.

In January, the state government had unveiled the draft master plan of the KonarkHeritageArea Development Project, which aims to transform the Infrastructure around the historic Konark Sun Temple. Theredevelopmentplan is based on four major aspects – celebrating the grandeur of the Sun Temple, enhancing visitors’ experience, boosting local businesses and strengthening tourism-based economy. Around Rs 150 crore will be spent in phases for the purpose.

The core area development plan, including the upgrade of the entrance of the 13th century Sun Temple, landscaping, development of pedestrian areas and parking and revamping of the open-air theatre will be taken up by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Tamil Nadu: 1.3 lakh dropouts enrolled back in schools in 5 months, says minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi

School Education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said in Trichy that the school education department identified 1.28 lakh school dropouts in the past five months and have enrolled them back in the school education system.

He said that the drive to bring back school dropouts during the outbreak of Covid-19 would continue even after the schools reopen.

Teachers have identified the children who had migrated to other districts and alerted their counterparts for follow-up. Students have been identified from all types of schools including government-aided, matriculation and CBSE schools. The students could be identified after their names fell in the common pool in the education management information system (EMIS). If a student was given a transfer certificate and the student hasn’t joined any other school for a certain period,

the name of the student will go to the common pool.
