Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will help 20,000 women self-help groups of the State in the women empowerment program under Jan Kalyan and Suraj Abhiyan at Shivpuri today. Chouhan under credit linkage will distribute bank loans worth Rs 2050 crore to these groups.

Along with this, food allowance of Rs 22.77 crore will be distributed to 2 lakh 27 thousand 687 Women of Saharia, Baiga and Bharia tribes and Rs 163.28 crore will be distributed as relief amount to the flood victims. The Chief Minister will distribute the amount with a single click.

About 10,000 women self-help group members will participate in the program and a large number of women members in all the districts will also watch the broadcast through virtual mediums. It is noteworthy that a food subsidy scheme has been started for the special backward tribes. The families of these tribes reside in 14 districts Sheopur, Morena, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Datia, Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur, Chhindwara, Mandla, Balaghat and Dindori.

Rs 1,000 are being provided every month in the account of these families.

It is noteworthy that from the start of Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission till the position of August 31, 2021, about 2.65 lakh self-help groups have been benefited by disbursing bank loans of about Rs 2,054 crore.

In its ongoing mission to empower the farmers of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Self-Reliant Farmer Integrated Development Scheme.

The Rs 722.85-crore scheme will benefit more than 27 lakh farmers associated with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) by increasing their income substantially in the next five years.

Also the government will spend the amount to provide facilities and Resources to farmers at every level, from farm to

market.

In the current financial year, the has earmarked Rs 100 crore for this scheme. Under this scheme, 2,725 FPOs will be formed benefiting 27.25 lakh shareholder farmers directly.

At present, a total of 693 FPOs have been formed in 408 blocks of the total 824 blocks of the state. About 500 to 1,000 farmers are associated with an FPO on an Average. FPOs provide bargaining power to small and marginal farmers for selling their crops. Therefore, the Yogi government has decided to form 2,725 FPOs in the next five years under the Self-Reliant Farmers Integrated Development Scheme.

Promotion of farming activities and increasing the farmer income has been one of the utmost priorities of the State Government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Schemes like Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Vikas Yojna, Birsa Harit Gram Yojna, Mukhyamantri Krishi Rin Mafi Yojna and many more have been launched in this regard. In order to promote multi-crop farming, the administration is also working on several solar lift irrigation projects in different districts across the state.

In a bid to ensure Irrigation facilities for the farmers throughout the year, the Latehar District Administration has brought 1,000 acres of land under

the solar lift irrigation facility, which has benefitted approximately 400 farming households in the district.

Each pump unit has a capacity of 5HP with a 5KW solar panel installed at a Pump House which covers 300 meters of an irrigation channel with the coverage of 10-12 acres of land. A total of 100 such units have been installed in the district which will cover an area of 1000 acres. Apart from this, to ensure the safety of the pump house, each pump unit has been insured against natural hazards and thievery.

Drug peddlers are set to face the music as an anti-narcotics task force has been made operational under thestate polices Economic Offences Unit(EOU).

It is adept at conducting quality investigation into cases lodged under theNarcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances(NDPS) Act and cracking down on the peddlers operating in the state.

Lakheshwar Baghel, Chairman of the Bastar Region Tribal Development Authority, also urged the Bastar tribal communities to cooperate and assist in the documentation.

Baghel was addressing a one-day workshop to conserve the tribal culture and tradition in Bastar region. It was held at the Bastar Academy of Dance Art Literature and Language (BADALL) at Aasna in Bastar district.

Baghel said the Chhattisgarh government had initiated the process of documentation of unique culture and tradition of Bastar tribes namely Madia, Muria, Bhatra, Halba, Dhurva, Dorla and others.

He underlined the need to preserve the traditions in the fast changing scenario and said the project will be finished by the time India marks the 75th anniversary of its independence.

Khandu urges Centre for extending area under oil palm cultivation in Arunachal

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has requested the Centre for increasing the area under oil palm cultivation in the state to 12,000-15,000 hectares in the first year of the Centre’s new mission to boost its production. The had on August 18 approved the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP), with a focus on the northeast region and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to promote the domestic cultivation of oil palm in the next five years. Allaying the fear of the impact of oil palm cultivation on forests, the chief minister said it is unlikely to have any effect since the areas identified for the purpose cover only wasteland.

On slow coverage of oil palm cultivation in the state, he attributed it to a lack of commitment from the promoters in setting up processing factories, which had led to a loss of confidence among the farmers. Khandu said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with one of the promoters was cancelled and meetings have been called with the existing ones to fast track the mission. Speaking on the Organic Mission, Khandu said that the state had launched the mission in 2016 with the target of completing it by 2023, covering an area of 1-lakh hectares.
