The consortium aims at developing an end-to-end atmanirbhar ecosystem for next-generation space technologies including rapid launch capability, satellite design and assembly, sensors, future generation Communication like 6G, security of satellites, ground stations, data processing, assimilation for communication and geo spatial application sectors.
The department has already identified locations for setting up caravan parking hubs in the district. Caravan tourism is a new concept being introduced by the state tourism department with the support of motor vehicles department (MVD). Caravans will be provided by private tour and travel agencies.
The concept is that the vehicle can be used bytouristsfor reaching various destinations and at the same time accommodation can be provided when they want to stay at a particular destination or overnight stay.
There is also a plan to convert the boat yard at Thevara into a tourism centre. Unused KSRTC buses will be used
for foodie wheels project. The buses will act as restaurants.Stating that the tourism sector has suffered Rs 25,000 crore loss due to the pandemic, Singh said it would take two years for it to bounce back.
The government has taken several measures in this regard, which include 50% rebate on property tax for hotels/resorts besides cancelling licence fees. It also waived electricity bills of hotels for three months from April to June, he said.
Singh said the government aims to take the tourism sectors contribution to the states GDP to 20% by 2025.
To facilitate this target, we have already introduced a new policy which hopes to attract another Rs 5,000 crore and create 10 lakh jobs. The government has set aside Rs 500 crore to implement the policy by way of disbursing sops, he added.

TheGoa Startup Policy2017 lapsed in September 2020 and was given two six-month extensions as the government dragged its feet in rolling out the revamped policy. The Goa Startup Promotion Cell (SPC) began work on the new policy in the first half of 2020 by taking the learnings from the then prevailing startup policy and inputs from startups.
For the new startup policy a single round of discussions with local startups and startup ecosystem stakeholders was held, while inputs were also sought from the Centres department for promotion of and of industry and internal trade (DPIIT). Discussions between local stakeholders and the IT minister Jennifer Monserrate and chief minister Pramod Sawant, though scheduled often, were cancelled repeatedly.
The new policy aims at evangelising creation of at least 500 innovative, technology enabled products and building sustainable Services and solutions start-ups in Goa by providing requisite assistance and support in the next three years, targeting generation of EMPLOYMENT for at least 6,000 Goans.
The start-up policy also aims at developing technology and innovation hubs, centres of excellence, research and development labs and incubation centres in the next three years.

Several mango orchard owners from rural Thane recently approached the state Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture department to get the geographical indicator (GI) tag for Thane mangoes along the lines of theRatnagirihaapus, said officials from the agriculture department. The officials said that GI tagging will ensure quality assurance to customers and give them priority to export to Europe and the US, thus maximising profits for cultivators.

Once registered, all farm produce will carry a unique code that will give details of the fruit, said officials. The farmers said they were reeling under losses due to the pandemic and drop in sales due to influx of the mango variants from Karnataka and Gujarat.
The scheme is aimed at giving an impetus to tourism in the state after the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism sector. The Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is scheduled to launch the Home Stay Scheme 2021 at Tikkar Taal, Panchkula on September 29.
The scheme lays down the eligibility criteria for home stays, incentives for them, registration procedure, inspection and Police verification, Marketing and promotion, responsibility of proprietor among other parameters.
Under the scheme, any house located within the limit of any type of municipal body is not eligible for registration and consequential subsidy under the scheme. Existing OYO or Airbnb, or B&B proprietors will also be not eligible.
The Department of Tourism will publish on its website the list of all approved home stay units. Brochures, leaflets, amongst other publicity materials will also be developed and disseminated at suitable public places in this regard.
As per the scheme, any proprietor can register a maximum four fully owned accommodation rooms in the scheme. All rooms must be in the same house and all registered rooms should be available for letting out. At least one of the proprietors/owner must be physically staying in the same house.
As many as 53 lakh households are expected to be covered under the decision, taken during a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. The state Cabinet also decided that disconnected electricity connections of consumers, who could not pay their bills, will also be restored.
