The said on Sunday that it has sanctioned a Rs 317crore project to fill up 74 check Dams and lakes in northGujaratwith water from theDharoidam.
The project will involve laying 118 kilometre long pipelines from the Dharoi dam to reservoirs in two talukas of Satlasana and Kheralu. A total of 5,808 hectares of cultivable land will receive water through the project, benefiting more than 2,700 farmers, the release added.

villages of these two talukas have remained out of the Dharoi dam command area because of the geographical conditions prevalent there, the statement said. With farmers relying on ground water for their crops, the water table has been depleting in these villages.
