Chhattisgarh is rich in tangible and intangible heritage, however, this legacy remains relatively unknown to society at large. The state holds immense potential for sustainable tourism, which needs to be studied in-depth from developmental and heritage management perspectives for holistic growth of the region.

In pursuit of this, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai has been granted a research project titled Heritage Application of Barsur: Perspectives on HISTORY, Architecture and Tourism by the Chhattisgarh . Under this project, the cultural significance of Barsur, its architectural typology and the challenges in maintenance of Barsurs living heritage will be studied.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai has taken a step in this direction while working with stakeholders in the Union and State Government to understand ground reality and offer recommendations.
