Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday called upon farmers to leave dependency on chemical fertilizer. Instead, he urged them to use vermicompost or super compost manures.

He said Chhattisgarh was saved from a shortage of chemical fertilizer this Kharif season only because of vermicompost and super compost produced at the Gauthans. All this was because of blessings of Ma Kaushalya and Gau Mata.

These manures were a better alternative and keeping in view the possibility of shortage of chemical fertilizer like DAP in the future, the farmers should start using producing vermicompost and super compost, Baghel said.

Their use will also reduce the cost of farming, he added.
