A satellite centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh will be established in Udham Singh Nagar district on land provided by the state government.

This satellite centre of Aiims Rishikesh will provide all necessary medical treatment facilities for patients of the Kumaon region. A letter to this effect from the government of India economic adviser Nilambuj Sharan has been received by the AIIMS Rishikesh director.

Reacting to this development, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Dhami has been requesting the central government to facilitate establishment of AIIMS in the Kumaon region on the lines of AIIMS Rishikesh.

Dhami said that the establishment of this centre, the patients of Kumaon region and those from neighbouring districts of Uttar Pradesh will benefit considerably from better medical treatment facilities.

It is pertinent to mention here that in his letter, Sharan has stated that like AIIMS Bhubaneswar has opened its satellite centre at Balasore in Odisha, necessary arrangements should be made for AIIMS Rishikesh to operate its satellite centre in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand.

With this letter being received from the central government, a technical team of the Health minister will soon evaluate the utility of the land provided by the and the capacity of the AIIMS satellite centre. Headed by the AIIMS director, the engineer concerned and chief architect will visit the land in question and check its utility.

Uttarakhand: PM Narendra Modi likely to launch infra project from Mana

Prime MinisterNarendra Modiis likely to launch the Centre’s ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ (VVP) fromMana, the last Indian village on India-China border on October 21, during his proposed visit toUttarakhand.

The project — announced by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget speech this year — aims to develop border villages with sparse Population and bolster facilities in these areas to check Migration.

The VVP is an important project for Uttarakhand as the Himalayan state an international border of 625km-350km with China and 275km with Nepal. Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts share an international border with China whereas Pithoragarh, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar share international boundaries with Nepal.

In view of the recent disturbances and violence in some parts of the State, the Uttarakhand Government on Monday extended the National Security Act (NSA) in the State for the next three months on Monday.

As per the order issued by Additional Chief Secretary of State Anand Vardhan, many anti-social Elements are trying to disrupt the security of the State by involving in various adverse activities which has made it mandatory for the to extend NSA.

Under this act, the district magistrates (DMs) will have the power to take action against those who might cause violence and disturb the peace in their respective districts till December 31.

The State Government implemented this act on June 4 this year. It is believed that the recent farmer agitation, increased aggression of parties in view of the upcoming Elections in the State and the law and order issues prompted the State Government to extend NSA.

First Earthquake App in Uttarkhand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has launched the first-of-its-kind earthquake early warning application, named Uttarakhand Bhookamp Alert.

Highlights:

The app has been developed through IIT Roorkee, in association with Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA).

Initially, this app was launched as a pilot venture solely by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, for the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The mission concept was addition extended by the Uttarakhand Government.

The Uttarakhand Bhookamp Alert is Indias first earthquake early warning app for notifying human beings about earthquake alerts.

Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) app can observe the onset of the earthquake and issue warnings concerning an earthquake incidence in the neighbourhood and the expected time of arrival and intensity at the area to forestall any loss of life.

Ukhand to implement Uniform Civil Code soon: CM

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the expert committee set to prepare a draft of the (UCC) has completed its work and UCC would be implemented in Uttarakhand soon.

The UCC has become a subject of national debate after Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly advocated for it on June 27. The national law commission has also initiated the process on the UCC in the country and the exhaustive draft of the UCC prepared by the expert committee set up by Uttarakhand could provide vital clues and directions in this endeavour.

In a key decision, the state wildlife board has decided to set up a centre of excellence to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts and to impart knowledge about wildlife health to all the stakeholders, including local villagers, who would be trained in the centre. Divulging details, forest minister Subodh Uniyal told TOI, We want to strike a fine balance between nature and humans.

The main objective of the centre of excellence, which would be the country’s first such centre, is to turn our forests into areas with abundant food and water sources so animals don’t have to venture into human habitations for their needs.

A total of 995 people have died and 4,858 others have sustained injuries in man-animal conflicts since 2000 whenUttarakhandwas carved out from UP. In fact, Uttarakhand is among the top three states, including West Bengal andKarnataka, in terms of human-wildlife conflict.

Meanwhile, the state wildlife board in its 17th meeting chaired by chief ministerPushkar SinghDhami on Tuesday gave its nod to send a proposal to the National Wildlife Board seeking its clearance for ropeway links to major pilgrimage sites, includingKedarnathtemple and Hemkund Sahib. The government had announced a 13-km ropeway project from Sonprayag in Rudraprayag district to Kedarnath. The project will aid pilgrims who have to currently trek a long distance to Kedarnath from Gaurikund.

Uttrakhand gets Rs 900 crore for NHM projects, highest grant of all time

With a focus on reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Uttarakhand, the Centre has released Rs 894 crore forNational Health Mission(NHM) projects in the state the highest it has ever received. Besides hiring more staff and strengthening , the Centre plans on introducing transportation Services between hospitals and homes for mothers and children, setting up five blood storage units and gathering more data.

The state will appoint 400 auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) and 158 staff nurses this year. It will also set up 54 delivery points and 29 first referral points for safe delivery. The operation and maintenance of 132 new ambulances under 108 emergency services has been provided for.

Drones to help Uttarakhand cops pick new parking spots

To ease traffic woes in the state, especially in plain districts and the ones in the Char Dham districts, theUttarakhandpolice plans to usedronesto identify spots to develop parking places and Police outposts.

Amit Sinha, ADG, police telecommunications, said, “Almost all 13 districts of the state have hilly terrain, so we decided to use drones.”

“Police will survey areas and look for spots that can be turned into parking facilities. Once the spots are identified, police will speak to other departments and take further action. The initiative will focus on three districts, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi, which host the Char Dham shrines.

Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat said that within the next six months, a high tech nursery should be established and work should be expedited for policies on industrial hemp, medicinal cannabis and aroma park.

The CM said that herbal products should be encouraged along with Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and in order to increase the income of farmers. To encourage herbal products, public awareness should be raised while also providing relevant training to people. He said this while reviewing the works of Herbal Research and Development Institute (HRDI) Gopeshwar and Centre for Aromatic Plants (CAP)

The institute has also developed six herbal teas for technical transfer. It is also conducting research and development activity for developing 100 medicinal products.

Uttarakhand govt to lay thrust on horticulture, tourism sectors

With the start of the new financial year, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the targets set by various departments and the efforts to achieve these targets at his secretariat office on Saturday. He directed the officials to hold review meetings on a regular basis to collect updates on works done and measures required to achieve set targets.

“We are working in the direction of making Uttarakhand one of the best performing states by 2025 and we need to work collectively. We need to fix time limit for our works and ensure they are completed within deadline,” Dhami said. He said there are many possibilities in the field of tourism, Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture,horticultureand . “Along with short-term action plan in these areas, we need to look into more possibilities these sectors have,” he said.
