UP govt to organise Yoga Week on a grand scale

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modis motto of Har Ghar Aangan , the Yogi Government is gearing up to organise Yoga Week in Uttar Pradesh on a grand scale from June 15 to 21, on the occasion of the 9th International Yoga Day, which falls on June 21.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives regarding holding of mass Yoga sessions apart from other events across the state with the aim to take Yoga to every household of the state.

A detailed action plan has been formulated under which district-level committees have been formed in all districts of the state which will monitor the implementation of the action plan and provide necessary assistance in its execution.

As per the governments action plan, district magistrates will chair the district-level committees. The committees will also include the chief development officer, municipal commissioner, senior superintendent of Police, superintendent of police, chief medical officer, regional ayurvedic and unani officers, district homeopathic officer, district Education inspector, basic education officer, Sports officer, and representatives from non-governmental organisations as its members.

An array of events will also be held in technical institutions, agricultural universities, higher education institutions, medical institutions, and AYUSH universities across the state. A comprehensive programme is being developed in this regard and the government will allocate funds for it.

UP govt announces sops for EV manufacturers

In its bid to promote manufacturing of electrical vehicles in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has decided to provide various incentives and subsidies to the investors and will encourage those investors that carry out Skill development of the employees.

Provisions have been made in the EV Manufacturing and Mobility Policy in this regard. Information about financial incentives for skill development has been provided in the manual related to the implementation of the policy.

In a recent program, the chief minister had appealed to the companies investing in the state to also make efforts for skill development of the youth in order to create a skilled workforce, and had also assured of all possible help from the government in this regard.

Notably, skill development subsidy has been mentioned in the EV policy wherein a one-time subsidy at the rate of `5000 per employee per year will be provided to a maximum of 50 employees in the form of reimbursement of stipend for all defined manufacturing projects. Under this provision, a subsidy will also be paid for training a maximum of 10 employees in a particular year, the spokesman said.

However, it should be noted that this incentive will be applicable solely to employees who have been working in the applicant manufacturing unit for a minimum period of 12 months before joining the training program.

To be eligible for this subsidy, the training programme must be certified by either the National Skill Development Corporation, Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, a Central/State University/College, or an ITI/Polytechnic institution.

All incentive benefits will be provided only after the commencement of commercial production as per the provision made in the EV policy. The aggregate of all financial incentives for manufacturing projects should not exceed 100 per cent of the fixed capital .

Under this policy, the principle of ‘First Come, First Serve’ will be implemented for projects that have received a letter of comfort from the State Government for promotion under the policy.

The meeting was also attended by representatives ofSerum Institute of India(SII), Dr Reddys Lab (manufacturing Russia-made Sputnik), Zydus Cadila and Bharat Bio-tech. The SII representative said, the company was unable to participate in the bidding process as pending orders for Vaccines were significantly high.

Subsidy worth Rs 23K cr given to power consumers: Sharma

Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister AK Sharma said the had provided subsidies worth Rs 23,000 crore during the current fiscal 2022-23 to different categories of power consumers.

He said an additional subsidy of Rs 1,000 crore was made available to the consumers through the supplementary budget of 2022-23.

UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) is working on war footing for installing 40 lakh smart meters across the state. So far 11.78 lakh smart meters have been installed in 12 cities. With the completion of this project, there will be no need for taking manual meter readings from the premises of the power consumers, the minister said here on Monday.

He said the results of effective measures taken by the power corporation to bring down the line losses were now visible. He said in 2016-17, line losses were 21.47 per cent which had come down to 17.62 per cent in January 2023. He said the aggregate transmission and distribution losses had reduced to 26.83 per cent from 28.81 per cent.

The minister said in special camps for resolving the problems faced by the power consumers, a total of 1.73 lakh complaints were received of which 1.46 lakh had been resolved. Moreover, the minister said, 71,000 complaints were resolved through the online SAMBHAV portal set up by the UPPCL.

Over 1,700 Uttar Pradesh govt schools to be revamped under PM SHRI

1,753 government-run primary (class 1 to 5), composite (class 1 to 8) and secondary (up to class 12) schools of the state can look forward to mega revamp in the days to come.

These schools have been picked up for a revamp under the Centrally-sponsored PM SHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India) School Scheme. The list of these selected schools has been released by the director general (school Education)Vijay Kiran Anand.

As per the list, Prayagraj andGorakhpurdistricts have a maximum of 47 schools each. Likewise, there are 43 schools from Azamgarh district that have been selected for the scheme. Similarly, 42 schools each in Jaunpur and Hardoi district, 36 schools each in Ghazipur and Rae Bareli, 35 schools each have been picked up in Bulandshahr andSiddharth Nagarhave been included in the list.

In Prayagraj alone, a total of 927 schools had applied, out of which 609 were found to be meeting the minimum prescribed standards. Although, two schools were to be selected in each development block, 47 schools have been selected in 21 blocks of Prayagraj. Altogether, 1,753 schools in the state have been selected across the state under the PM SHRI Scheme.

TERI, Uttar Pradesh government join hands to monetise carbon credits

Officials of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) began a capacity-building workshop inMeerut, where senior forest officials were trained to assess carbon stock in trees planted by farmers in the past four years, from 2018 to 2021. Based on their assessment, farmers will get paid via the monetisation of carbon credits. This process will be facilitated byTERI.

TERI entered into a memorandum of understanding with the UP government in December last year to involve farmers in the global efforts to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases. After quantification of carbon stock in forests using internationally accepted methods, farmers will directly get a deposit of $6 per into their account.

The carbon intensity of the economy, which is the number of goods made per unit of energy, would be reduced by 45% by 2030. The world needs to halve global emissions by 2030 and become net-zero by 2050, scientists say, to “avoid the worst effects of Climate-change”>Climate Change.”

Prayagraj to get 3 more cement production units

The district is all set to become the major hub ofcementmanufacturing in the state with three more cement units coming up in Shankargarh regio of the trans-Yamuna area.

Prayagraj already has two cement manufacturing Plants, both located at trans-Yamuna area. Land has been identified for the three new cement production units in Shankragarh area. These three units are being set up by three different private firms.

At present the district has two cement plants runninga Cement blending plant of 6.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of Jaypee Group atSadwaand another of Ulta Tech Cement having a 2MTPA plant at Bara.

As per the official of theUttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority(UPCIDA), Prayagraj, an MoU with the company has already been signed. The firm will be setting up a Clinker grinding unit of a capacity of 2.50 MTPA at cost of Rs 400 crore in Bara area. The firm is already in the process of purchasing the land.

In a bid to empower women across Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government will link as many as two lakh new eligible girl beneficiaries with the Kanya Sumangala Scheme by December 15 and transfer the grant amount directly to their bank accounts.

Director, Women Welfare and Child Development, Manoj Rai, said that under the Mission Shakti Abhiyan, the work of adding new eligible girls to this scheme was going on at a fast pace. He said so far, over 1.50 lakh girls had been added to the scheme so that they could be well educated and become self-reliant.

Rai also said that the government had given targets to all the 75 districts to provide the advantage of the scheme to about two lakh new girls in less than three months so that they could be well educated and become self-reliant.

The commitment to the safety, self-reliance and dignity of women and daughters has been the mainstay of the Yogi government. Under the flagship Mission Shakti 3.0 campaign, more than 28.32 lakh people have been made aware in just four months. From August 7, 2021 to November 25, as many as 28,32,104 people, including 12,18,181 boys, 16,09238 women and 4,685 others have been made aware by the department.

As many as 24,728 applications were received for Kanya Sumangala Yojana out of which 12,931 had been accepted, 10,329 applications were received under Destitute Women’s Pension Scheme out of which 3,780 were accepted, 2,521 applications were received under Mukhya Mantri Bal Seva Yojana out of which 810 were accepted, 2,636 applications were received under Mukhya Mantri Bal Seva Yojana (General) out of which 529 were accepted.

UP to host Khelo Indianational University games

Uttar Pradeshwill host theKhelo India National University Games2023-24. Additional chief secretary, sport, Navneet Sehgal on Wednesday gave a presentation before the representatives ofKhelo Indiain this connection. The ACS said thatNational University Gameswill be held in four districts of Uttar Pradesh Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Noida.

At least 20 Sports events including rowing, basketball, judo, kabaddi and wrestling will be organised and around 4,500 players from 150 universities will participate in the games, he said. Under-26 category players will take part in the National University Games and special focus will be on womens games. Best of the facilities will be provided to players.

Uttar Pradesh govts insurance scheme to help 4.5 crore registered workers

Months ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls, the has launched an Insurance scheme for registered workers in the unorganised sector.

The scheme will benefit a massive 4.5 crore people, or 21% of UPs Population. Registered workers will also be eligible for cashless, free medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh under the CM Jan Aarogya Scheme.

The CMs Disaster Insurance Scheme is meant only for registered workers though sources said

that the government will now embark on a major drive to register all workers in unorganised sector.

The full amount will be paid in case of death, complete disability, or loss of two limbs. In case of loss of one limb or an eye, 50% of the amount will be paid. If permanent disability is over 50% but less than 100%, then 50% of the amount will be given but if disability is 25%-50%, then 25% of the amount will be given.
