Govt announces incentives for EV manufacturing in Uttar Pradesh

The cabinet cleared the New Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022. The policy aims at generating a framework under which electric vehicles can be promoted in Uttar Pradesh.

The new policy is aimed at making UP a global hub for electric mobility development and manufacturing, enabling a transition to eco-friendly transportation systems, enabling investments for development of charging or battery swapping , attracting investments for manufacturing units and supply to a global market, and promoting research and innovations in non-ICE based automobiles, battery technology, fuel cell technologies and EV electronics.

Under the policy, incentives will be provided to consumers for purchasing EVs, to manufacturers and to service providers for charging and battery swapping Services. The policy states that 100% road tax and registration fee will be waived off across all segments of EVs during the first three years of the new policy. The exemption will also be provided in the fourth and fifth years of the policy provided the vehicle has been manufactured in UP.

A 15% subsidy will be given on factory cost for purchasing two-wheeler EVs, up to maximum Rs 5,000 per vehicle, applicable to the first 2 lakh EVs purchased. Similarly, up to a maximum Rs 12,000 will be provided for three-wheelers, for the first 50,000 EVs. For 4-wheelers a subsidy of up to Rs 1 lakh for the first 25,000 EVs and up to Rs 20 lakh per e-bus for the purchase of the first 400 buses will be provided. A 10% subsidy will be provided on the factory cost of e-goods carriers, up to Rs 1 lakh per vehicle for the first 1,000 e-goods carriers.

The home-grown revolver of Webley and Scott, the renowned British firearms company, has hit the Indian market with its first delivery being made in Lucknow.

The British firm had entered into an understanding with Lucknow-based Sial Manufacturers to manufacture firearms and it is being manufactured in Hardoi. This unit is the first of Webley and Scott in the country. Revolvers, pistols, airguns will be made in this unit. As there is demand for revolvers, the unit will be manufacturing it initially. Its cost would be around Rs 1.55 lakh.

As per the agreement, the company will not sell the revolvers directly but through gun houses.

Webley is famous for the revolvers and automatic pistols it supplied to the British Empire’s military, particularly the British Army, from 1887 through both World War I and World War II. In 2010, Webley and Scott restarted the production of shotguns for commercial sale.

Yogis model of governance is drawing global applause

Amid widespread violence in West Bengal duringpanchayat , which claimed 20 lives on the polling day and over 40 lives since the poll process got underway in the state, theYogi Adityanathmodel of Governance has become a hot topic of discussion in the country as well as abroad, a government spokesperson said.

Comparisons are being drawn between West Bengal, where ballot boxes were looted during panchayat polls and which also witnessed widespread clashes and booth-capturing, andUttar Pradeshwhich did not report even a minor incident of violence during the last Lok Sabha elections or the recently-concluded municipal polls, said a government spokesperson. The Rule of Law in Uttar Pradesh, one of the largest states with highest Population, stands in sharp contrast to the chaotic state of affairs in Mamata Banerjees state where bombs and bullets have become the order of the day, he said.

Aspirational cities’ plan to begin with Rs 100 cr

In a bid to further strengthen the urban bodies and expand their capacities, the Yogi Adityanath government is going to start the Aspirational Cities Programme.

A budget of Rs 100 crore has been set aside by the Urban Development department for the implementation of this scheme.

In the next three months, using this budget, the Urban Development department will select 100 aspirational bodies on the basis of prescribed parameters. Along with this, CM Fellows will also be posted in the respective districts. The Urban Development department has confirmed through an action plan to spend the allocated budget in the next three months in the schemes operated under the new plan in 2023-24. This action has been taken by the Yogi government to ensure proper development of the municipal bodies.

It is expected that apart from ensuring the quality of work in the urban bodies through this scheme, the implementation of the schemes will also accelerate.

The Urban Development department has stated that 16 parameters will be framed with assistance from for the implementation of the thematic project in the action plan for the upcoming three months. By using these parameters, data will be gathered at the district level.

On the basis of data collection, 100 aspirational bodies will be selected from the state. The thematic plan will be launched with all these selected 100 aspirational bodies. Along with this, CM Fellows will also be deployed for thematic planning in the respective districts. These CM Fellows will work under chief development officers (CDOs) and district magistrates (DMs) and expedite implementation of schemes besides ensuring the quality of work.

UP wins first prize in National Water Awards

Uttar Pradesh added another feather to its cap by bagging the first prize in the Best State Category of the Union Ministry of Jal Shaktis National Water Awards 2020 on Friday.

This is the third edition of the award given for adopting a holistic approach towards Resources“>Water Resources management in India. Rajasthan and Nadu bagged the second and third prizes respectively in the Best State (Normal) Category.

A total of 57 awards were announced in 11 categories, including best states, district, panchayat and best industries.

In 2018, National Water Awards were instituted to recognise and encourage exemplary work and efforts made by states, districts, individuals and organisations in attaining the governments vision of a Jal Samridh Bharat across the country.

The award in the north zone district category this year was given to Muzaffarnagar of UP while Balua of Varanasi won the award for the Best Village PanchayatNorth Zone.

The Rural Water Supply Department of the UP government has completed preparations to connect more than 18 lakh families with water supply in the first phase of Har Ghar Nal Yojana under Jal Jeevan Mission and Union governments Namami Gange programme.

In a big boost to self-reliance in defence manufacturing in India, an Indo-Russian venture to manufacture over five lakh AK-203 assault rifles will be set up at Korwa in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh.

The joint Indo-Russian venture has been approved by the Government of India. The proposed project reflects the ever increasing paradigm shift in DEFENCE acquisition from buy (global) to .

The joint venture will provide business opportunities to various Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other defence industries for supply of raw material and components, leading to generation of new EMPLOYMENT opportunities.

The project marks a significant stride towards making Uttar Pradesh a key contributor in the defence manufacturing prowess of India. With this, the much ambitious project of Uttar Pradesh government to establish a Defence Manufacturing Corridor in the state has also come a long way.

The project will be implemented by a special purpose joint venture called Indo-Russian Rifles Private Ltd (IRRPL). It has been created with the erstwhile OFB, now Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) and Munitions India Limited (MIL) of India and Rosoboronexport (RoE) and Kalashnikov of Russia.

Uttar Pradesh: Milk production policy to bring Rs 5,000 crore, create 1.25 lakh jobs

TheCabinetcleared the UPMilkDevelopment and Milk Production Promotion Policy 2022, paving the way for investments in the sector in the state and creation of about 1.25 lakh jobs.

The policy will be effective for five years from the time of notification. An official said that the government hopes to get investments of up to Rs 5,000 crore in the sector over the next five years. The plan is to increase the level of milk processing from the current 10% to 25% and increase the marketable surplus of processed milk from 44% to 65%.

A subsidy of 10% up to a maximum of Rs 5 crore will be given for setting up milk processing Plants, or Investment in plant, machinery, technical or civil work for the expansion of existing plants. A Rs 10 crore interest subsidy over five years will also be given. For the first time, the government will also give a subsidy of Rs 7.5 crore on setting up a cattle feed factory.

The Cabinet also cleared the Textile and Garment Policy 2022. The special aim of this policy is to attract investments of Rs 10,000 crore in the textile sector, creating jobs for 5 lakh persons, establishing apparel parks and ensuring an increase of about 50% in the income of weavers.

Under the policy, a 25% subsidy up to a maximum of Rs 100 crore will be given on investments in plants and machinery for textile and garments units. An additional subsidy of 5% will be given to units that are set up inMandhyanchaland 10% to those set up in Purvanchal and Bundelkhand.

As Uttar Pradesh continues to intensify its vaccination drive with the aim of vaccinating its entire eligible population soon, the state has so far provided the protective shield to over 11,04,51,442 people.

The state took a giant leap in its vaccination drive by administering over one crore vaccine doses in less than 10 days.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attributed the states achievement to the dedicated efforts of the Health workers, frontline workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Women self-help groups (SHGs) and even to the citizens of the state.
