79 pc AMRUT projects completed in UP

The Uttar Pradesh government has completed almost 79 per cent of projects under the AMRUT 1.0 so far for providing water supply and sewerage facilities to every household in Uttar Pradesh.

Till March 13, the government has completed 262 projects. The total cost of these projects is Rs 5,816.55 crore, against which the government has released Rs 5,257.09 crore. These 229 projects are of water and sewerage, while 33 projects are of sewerage.

As per the zone-wise completed schemes related to water supply and sewerage, the maximum number of 61 schemes have been completed in Ghaziabad zone. At the same time, the work of 46 schemes in Lucknow zone, 36 each in Prayagraj and Agra respectively, 28 in Gorakhpur and 22 in Kanpur has been completed.

UP, Australia have a strong partnership: Swatantra Dev

Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh said on Saturday that Uttar Pradesh and Australia have a strong PARTNERSHIP in various sectors including security, water, Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, and the Environment.

“Certainly, through the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit, our economic ties will undoubtedly improve, and Uttar Pradesh will advance in terms of overall development,” he added.

The Jal Shakti Minister was addressing the Australia Country Partner session held at the Bhardwaj Hall of UPGIS, which was also attended by Australias High Commissioner to India Barry OFarrell AO.

The Australias High Commissioner said, The citizens of Australia consider the world as their family. Australia is a country that has given respect to the people of Indian origin. Our trade is on the rise, and certainly, through UPGIS, our economic ties will get a new lease of life.
Swatantra Dev Singh stated that Australia, one of the world’s most developed and progressive countries, is a close friend of Uttar Pradesh. He mentioned that he visited Australia in December 2022 and extended invitations to strengthen ties between the two countries. An of Rs 9880 crore is being proposed with Australia, and six MoUs have already been signed.
The Minister also highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is rapidly developing under the direction of CM Yogi and emphasised the government’s commitment to protect the interests of investors.
He further added that Prime Minister Modi aims to grow India’s economy to $5 trillion, while CM Yogi aims to make Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy in the next five years. Industries like Health, agriculture, and innovation are attracting international attention in Uttar Pradesh.

New UP sports policy to foster sports culture

Aimed at fostering Sports culture in the state and promoting athletes, the Yogi Adityanath government through the new Sports Policy 2022 will not only engage itself in identifying the budding athletes in the state, but also develop sports for quality training of the sportspersons.

Under the new sports policy to be approved by the state cabinet, the government will also constitute the UP Sports Development Fund for providing world-class training and support to talented sportspersons, and for this a plan with an initial budget of Rs 100 crore is ready.

At present, there are about 30,000 playgrounds in the state, and a target has been set to double them to 60,000. Apart from this, financial assistance will also be made available to private sports academies.

Sehgal said that under the new sports policy, UP Sports Development Fund would be created with an initial budget of Rs 100 crore. This fund will be used for purchase of sports equipment, foreign training camps and appointment of physiologists, psychologists and foreign coaches.

District sports centres will also be set up in every district. Apart from this, 14 Centres of Excellence will be established in the next five years for high-quality training for players representing the state and the country in national and international competitions. Along with this, a physio trainer and dietician will be appointed in every division. A talent search committee will be constituted in every district to find hidden sports talents.

Hectic political activities have picked up in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the assembly elections next year. From issues of public interest to populist announcements, the process of highlighting issues has begun in right earnest. However, even as opposition parties make their own claims, various initiatives rolled out by the UP government in promoting Micro, Small and Medium scale industries (MSMEs) is overshadowing all other issues.

In the last 4.5 years of the BJP regime, more than 76.73 lakh people were provided with loans worth Rs 2,42,028 crore for doing business in the MSME sector and about two crore people got EMPLOYMENT in the sector. The MSME sector of the state is making a new record in the country. In fact, 14 per cent of the MSME units of India are housed in Uttar Pradesh and due to the of the State Government, Investment in this sector has increased continuously.

As per UP government figures, MSME was the most important sector after Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture in terms of providing employment in the state. In terms of number of MSMEs, the share of UP in the country was 14.2 per cent. Through the MSME sector, the state has been exporting more than Rs 1.14 lakh crore for three consecutive years.

In the 2016-17 fisal, during the SP regime, 6.35 lakh MSMEs were provided loans worth Rs 27,2 02 crores while soon after the BJP came to power, in the 2017-18 fiscal, loans worth Rs 41,193 crore was provided to 7.87 lakh entrepreneurs in the MSMEs sector. Later in the 2018-19 fiscal, 10.24 lakh MSME entrepreneurs were provided loans worth Rs 47,764 crore and in 2019-20, Rs 62,831 crore was disbursed to 17.45 lakh entrepreneurs. In the financial year 2020-21, 34.80 lakh MSME units were provided loans worth Rs 63,038 crore while loans amounting to Rs 16,002 crore were provided to 1.25 lakh new MSME units from April 1 to November 10 this year.

Nod to Uttar Pradesh Biofuel Policy-2022

The Cabinet cleared two important policies aimed at taking the state’s economy to USD 1 trillion. As part of that, a nod was given to the UP Biofuel Policy-2022 and to the new MSME policy.

Urban development minister AK Sharma said that the biofuel policy would help in reducing pollution by preventing burning of municipal waste, agricultural and mandi waste and that from sugar mills. All this could be processed into biofuel, reducing the dependency on imported gas and oil and increasing farmers’ incomes.

The policy will be in place for five years and is expected to bring in of Rs 5,500 crore. It will include production of compressed biogas, biocoal, bioethanol and biodiesel. The incentive will mainly be provided on production,

For compressed biogas a subsidy of Rs 75 lakh per ton, up to a maximum of Rs 20 crore while on biocoal a subsidy of Rs 75,000 per ton up to a maximum of Rs 20 crore will be given. For Plants with an investment of Rs 50 crore or more, the government will pay for five km of the approach road.

All educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh will now have an Aarogya Vatika to make students aware of the importance of medicinal plants.

Aarogya Vatika is a special Health corner where herbs and Plants with high medicinal value and the ones that are immunity boosters will be planted in various city parks in different areas to make citizens aware of their health benefits available in our surroundings.

Uttar Pradesh govt to seek budget only for projects to be finished in six months

The supplementary budget of the which was supposed to be of Rs 35,000 crore is now set to be scaled down considerably after UP government’s decision to seek budget only for those projects which are due to be completed in the next six months after which the state would go to the polls.

The new estimated size of the supplementary budget is approximately Rs 10,000 crore, said a highly placed source. Along with it, the government is likely to table a few ordinances to be made into laws. A few new bills are also expected to be tabled in the House.

The supplementary budget could also earmark additional funds of Rs 250 to Rs 300 crore for Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressways. Sources said the government could make provision of a supplementary budget under Adhivakta Kalyan Nidhi.

Supplementary budget might also be earmarked for the family members of those who died on duty during Panchayat Elections. A total of around Rs 600 crore could be earmarked for the compensation.

From 12 districts with over 50% poor popn, UP now has just 1: NITI Aayog

As many as 12 backward districts of Uttar Pradesh are on the path of progress and development, aNITI Aayogreport released by its vice-chairman Suman Bery claimed.

The findings of the Aayog’s ‘national multidimensionalpovertyindex: a progress of review 2023’, based on the national family Health survey, said that the condition of 11 out of the total 12 districts where more than 50% of the Population was suffering from POVERTY has improved considerably over the past five years.

The survey, which provides an overview about the population’s health, Education and the standard of living, was conducted during 2019-21. The release of the report got delayed owing to the pandemic.
While during the last family health survey which took place during 2015-16 the maximum deprivation among families and individuals for basic necessities and Services was noticed in Shravasti (74%), Bahraich (72%), Balrampur (69%), Lakhimpur Kheri (60%), Gonda (59%), Siddharthnagar (57%), Badaun (57%), Sitapur (57%), Kaushambi (56%), Chitrakoot (52%), Hardoi (51%) and Shahjahanpur (50.5%), in the latest survey, poverty has gone down significantly in all these districts except Bahraich.

As per the latest survey, more than half the population has access to better basic services, amenities and now in 11 of the 12 districts. In Bahraich, 54% deprivation was noticed during the latest survey as compared to 72% in the last.

Eight districts in UP were brought under the programme and both central and the state governments had started focusing on strengthening healthcare, education, Nutrition, power, water, sanitation and other basic facilities.

RRR centres to collect waste materials in cities

The Uttar Pradesh government will set up RRR centres in 11 municipal corporations. The RRR Reduce, Reuse and Recycle centres are part of the Meri Life, Mera Swachh Shahar’ campaign.

In these facilities, being hailed as Na Throw-Na Throw (a pun on Natu Natu song),waste materials such as clothes, books, toys, electrical and electronic equipment and machinery, among others, will be collected from the homes of people and distributed to people in need.

The municipal corporations where these RRR centres would come up include Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Meerut, Agra, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Bareilly, Moradabad and Saharanpur.

According to Urban Development Minister AK Sharma, a Na Throw-Na Throw chariot will be run in all the selected 11 municipal corporations.

Besides, the RRR centres will be developed as banks for clothes, books, utensils, and toys. The municipal corporations will operate them through various voluntary organisations, self-help groups and other organisations.

Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has invited bids for the selection of solar power generators under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) Scheme to set up decentralised, ground-mounted grid-connected solar power plants aggregating 106 MW capacity.

The Plants, in sizes of 0.5 MW, 1 MW, 1.5 MW, and 2 MW (AC), are to be set up on a build-own-operate basis and will come up on barren or agricultural lands, pasturelands and marshlands falling within a 5 km radius from the identified 24 numbers of 33/11kV substations of four power distribution companies (Discoms) which are subsidiaries of UP Power Corporation Limited. The respective Discom will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement with successful bidders.

The tender document mentioned that the solar power Generator may be operated by an individual farmer, group of farmers/cooperatives/panchayats/farmer-producer organisations/water user associations or project developers to whom the land has been leased by farmers. The individual project capacity to be developed in a particular substation shall be a minimum of 0.5 MW and a maximum of 2 MW per bidder. A bidder may participate for all 24 substations, but it will not be allowed to bid for more than a single solar power plant of 0.5 MW, 1.0 MW, 1.5 MW, or 2 MW capacities at a particular 33/11kV substation.
