Govt signs MoU with Saloni Heart Foundation

As part of the efforts to develop better healthcare facilities in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US-based Saloni Heart Foundation in San Francisco to establish a Centre of Excellence in Pediatric Cardiology Unit at Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

The centre, to be set up in collaboration with the Saloni Heart Foundation, will ensure effective treatment of congenital heart defects in children in the state. The centre will also enable treatment of thousands of children every year.

A UP delegation that visited the US recently to raise investments and to invite companies to the Global Investors Summit-2023, signed an MoU with the Saloni Heart Foundation. The foundation will set up a 200-bed pediatric cardiology centre at SGPGIMS at a cost of Rs 480 crore.

In a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Additional Chief Secretary ( and Industrial Development) Arvind Kumar said that during the US tour of GIS-2023, an Indian-origin couple living in California, Mili and Himanshu Seth, expressed their desire to build a unit for the treatment of congenital heart defects in children. This led to the signing of an agreement between the UP government and Saloni Heart Foundation to set up a pediatric cardiology centre at SGPGIMS at a cost of Rs 480 crore.

Jugsalai Municipality launches link for Swachh Competition

As part of the Citizen Engagement under Swachh Survekshan 2022, a bit.ly link was launched in schools by the executive officer of Jugsalai to ensure participation of children in Swachh Competition.

Officials informed that it is a type of link that clicks on a Google Form. By filling and submitting this form, children can directly participate in the Swachh Competition. Executive officer Jagdish Prasad said that the Swachh Bharat Mission is not only based on cleanliness, but also on reducing the production of waste. This link based competition has been organised to make the competition paperless and support Digital India.

Children can now participate in Jingle. It is a type of short song or tune which is used to spread public awareness. Under this, they can participate by making a jingle on any topic related to the Swachh Bharat Mission.

UP to generate 22,000 MW solar energy in next 5 years

With the aim to give an impetus to , the Uttar Pradesh government has approved the new Solar Energy policy that aims to generate 22,000 megawatt of solar energy within the next five years.

This includes the target of 14,000 MW by establishment of solar park, 4,500 MW from solar rooftop (residential area), 1,500 MW from solar rooftop (non-residential institution) and 2,000 MW power generation from PM Kusum Yojana components.

The new policy also talks about creation of posts called Surya Mitra, who will help in maintenance of solar Plants

The cabinet has approved (Kusum C-2) for the establishment of 2,000 MW capacity solar plants of separate agricultural feeders. Approval has been given to provide 70 per cent subsidy to Scheduled Tribe farmers and 60 per cent subsidy to other farmers and a total grant of Rs 1,000 crore in five years during the policy period, the minister said.

The cabinet has decided to provide 100 per cent exemption in stamp duty on purchase of land for solar units. In addition, all solar power generation projects are exempted from obtaining environmental clearance while grid-connected solar PV projects are exempted from obtaining no objection certificate (NOC) from Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board.

In the state, a target of 1,500 MW power generation has been set by setting up solar rooftop systems on the roofs of non-residential buildings such as government buildings and all Types of government or non-government educational institutions.

It has also been decided to provide net metering facilities on solar rooftop systems installed on the roofs of non-residential buildings of this category.

SOLAR CITY: Ayodhya city will be developed as a model solar city. Apart from this, 16 municipal corporations of the state and Noida will also be developed as solar cities.

A solar city means that a minimum of 10 per cent of the estimated total demand of conventional energy of the city is met from the solar power plants installed in the city area. For this, according to the 2011 Census of the municipal area, financial assistance will be provided by the State Government to the municipal corporations for setting up solar power plants at the rate of Rs 100 per person.

JOB CREATION: Additional manpower will be created for the maintenance of solar power plants. For this, 30,000 youths will be given training in maintenance of solar power plants and they will be named as ‘Surya Mitra’. In this way EMPLOYMENT will be created for these ‘Surya Mitras’.

Kashi Utsav being held in Varanasi

It is being organised by Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre of Varanasi.

The utsav will also celebrate the centuries-old luminaries like Goswami Tulsidas, Sant Raidas, Sant , Munshi Premchand, Bhartendu Harishchandra, and Shri Jaishankar Prasad.

Event is being organised with the support of Uttar Pradesh State Government and Varanasi Administration as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Uttar Pradeshaccounts for half of the countrys illegal weapon seizures, suggests data released by theNational Crime Records Bureau(NCRB) for 2020.

As many as 67,947 firearms were seized under the Arms Act in the country in 2020, with UP topping the list (32,776 seizures), the data states.

Madhya Pradesh follows UP with a distant 10,841 illegal arms seizures.

Even in the licensed category, UP held the distinction with 65% of the total seizures in the country.

In numerical terms, out of 2,126 licensed weapons seized in the country, UP accounted for 1,400.

However, when it comes to seizure of illegal ammunition, Jammu & Kashmir topped the chart with 27,103 ammunition, including bullets of all calibers that account for more than 50% seized in the entire country. However, only 474 arms were seized in the troubled state.

The NCRB data also reveals arms seizure from anti-national Elements, where UP again accounts for 77% of total seizures in the country. Out of 5,631 such weapons, 4,313 came from UP. Out of 27,103 ammunition seized in J&K, 27,083 was in possession of anti-national elements.

In an initiative to connect the youth with skill development and vocational education, the Uttar Pradesh government has started imparting practical training in industries like health sector, operation of oxygen plants among others.

The government has chalked out an action plan to train over three lakh youths in various skill training schemes in the next six months.

“The government is also going to organise mega placement camps in over 25 districts soon to provide EMPLOYMENT opportunities to more youths of the state. In addition the government is imparting training to more than 41,000 youths for general duty assistant-critical care, as Covid frontline workers, emergency medical technicians, medical equipment technology assistants and more. Around 15,000 youth are to be trained as Oxygen plant operators. Presently, nearly 371 candidates are getting training.

Yogi govt drafting Pharmaceutical Industry Policy

In an effort to make Uttar Pradesh a hub of pharmaceutical products in the country, the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing the draft of Pharmaceutical Policy-2023, which will be valid for the next five years after its implementation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a recent meeting, discussed the important changes required in the Pharmaceutical Industry Policy 2018 to implement proposals received during the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023 on the ground.

Chief ministers advisor GN Singh said, The new policy aims to improve the states pharmaceutical and medical device industry by encouraging local production, promoting research and development, and improving the availability of affordable medicines to citizens.

The upcoming policy will focus on creating a conducive Environment for the development of the pharma sector in the state and providing subsidies, incentives and land to promote the pharmaceutical industry, he added.

He further said that the main objective of the policy was to create a strong ecosystem for research and development by setting up state-of-the-art facilities and collaborating with academic institutions. The new policy is being prepared to boost the local economy, focusing on the need for specialised technology, quality control system and specialised ecosystem for the pharmaceutical and medical device sector.

According to the policy, the Yogi government will pay a 50 per cent of interest amount for a maximum of seven years on the loan received from a bank for the purchase of land to establish the industry, which will not exceed Rs 1 crore per year. Pharma and Medical Device Park are receiving special focus.

The goal of the policy is to identify plots and develop parks for bulk manufacturing of allopathic, AYUSH products, medical devices and key ingredients used in bulk drug manufacturing.

Global Investors Summit-23 held in Lucknow attracted Investment of Rs 28,402 crore from 212 companies in the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sector which will create 57,000 new EMPLOYMENT opportunities.

Govt move to improve healthofpoor showssignificant progress

Uttar Pradesh governments efforts to improve the Health of the poor have shown significant progress, according to a review by Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra.

The government has implemented schemes such as Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Abhiyan, and Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, which have benefited millions of families in the state.

The government had set a target of covering 1.16 crore families under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in the last five financial years, and so far 68.92 lakh families have benefited from the scheme. Similarly, the government has issued Ayushman cards to about two crore poor people out of a target of 5.83 crore beneficiaries.

Under Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan, the government has connected 3.79 lakh families out of a target of 8.43 lakh families. In Hapur, the government has achieved a hundred per cent target of connecting poor families with the Chief Ministers Jan Arogya Abhiyan. Additionally, 26.83 lakh families out of a target of 36.34 lakh beneficiary families of Antyodaya Anna Yojana have been connected with Ayushman cards.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) appreciated the efforts of the Yogi Adityanath government for working on the formula of trace, test and treat and admitted that officials were going door-to-door for testing people in the rural areas.

In its report referring to the major campaign to prevent Corona in rural areas of UP, the WHO, described how the approached houses in 97941 villages of 75 districts to check the infection along with isolated patients and providing them medical kits.
Various WHO teams visited 10,000 homes in rural UP to cross check the Yogi governments Covid management on the ground. The team learnt about the condition of Covid management in villages themselves and quizzed patients about medical facilities they were getting.

Over 50% of ruralfamilies in 22 UPdistricts get tap water

In a significant achievement, the Uttar Pradesh government has provided tap water connections to more than 50 per cent of rural families in 22 districts across the state under Har Ghar Nal Yojana.

These districts, among others, include Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Gorakhpur, the hometown of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Besides, seven districts from Bundelkhand region are incorporated in the list.

Under Har Ghar Nal Yojana, tap water connections were provided to 99,16,379 families in UP until Tuesday. The government aims to provide tap connections to 2,65,46,370 rural households by 2024.

The Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply department has also expedited the process to finish the task of providing tap water to every household in the remaining 53 districts in order to meet the target.

In terms of the number of tap water connections provided, Uttar Pradesh currently ranks third in the country, with 22 districts of the state having achieved more than 50 per cent of the target.

Mahoba of Bundelkhand has topped among the districts providing tap water connections to more than 84.65 per cent of the rural households and 1,13,034 out of 1,33,529 families have been provided with tap water. It is followed by Lalitpur district of Bundelkhand where 73.03 per cent of the Population has been provided with clean tap water. Baghpat comes at third spot with 72.37 per cent of households getting tap water, followed by Mirzapur at number four with 71.84 per cent of households having received tap water connections.

All seven districts of Bundelkhand have been provided with more than 50 per cent of its tap water connection needs. In Jhansi, 71.21 per cent of households now have access to tap water. Chitrakoot (67.33 per cent) is fifth among districts providing maximum tap connections while Banda ranks sixth with 64.82 per cent of households getting tap water.
