Telangana, AP spar over Dindi lift irrigation scheme in NGT

and Andhra Pradesh are caught in a legal battle in National Green Tribunal over theDindiLift Irrigation Scheme (DLIS).

While Telangana says it is a drinking water supply scheme, AP filed a counter-affidavit asserting that it is an irrigation project taken up without seeking the environmental clearance (EC).

Telangana irrigation special chief secretary Rajat Kumar in an affidavit said: As on the present stage of construction, filling of the reservoirs, transporting and storing Infrastructure can only be utilised for drinking water and industrial purposes. A separate further plan under next phase as to development of irrigation- related infrastructure would specifically needs to be made.

‘Palle Pragati’ helped to improve green cover in state: Telangana chief secretary

Telanganachief secretarySomesh Kumarsaid the “Palle Pragati” programme taken up by the had achieved remarkable results in improving green cover and sanitation apart from controlling diseases in the state.

Informing about the programme to union secretary of rural developmentNarendranath Sinhaduring a review meeting on various developmental works in rural areas on Monday, the chief secretary said that every village in Telangana now has aPalle Prakruthi Vanam, Nursery,Vaikuntadhamam, compost unit and a tractor and added that every month an amount of Rs 227 crores are being released to gram panchayats in the state.

He said while there were only 8,684 gram panchayats (GPs) before the formation of the state, all tribal thandas and hamlets were made GPs. With this the number rose to 12,769.

Rs 20,000 crore per year for Dalit Bandhu in Telangana, say sources

By quickly rolling out the Dalit Bandhu scheme, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has not only caught the opposition parties unawares but also put them on the back foot. Sources said theCMintends to grant a hefty allocation of Rs 20,000 crore in the immediate financial year for the scheme.

Sources also said the CM was firm on implementing the scheme by BUDGETING Rs 20,000 crore on the scheme every year. Presently, support for farmers in the form of Rythu Bandhu scheme receives Rs 11,000 crore annually. At a time when Rythu Bandhu is being implemented successfully with regular funding, we foresee no problem in the implementation ofDalita Bandhu. This scheme will also receive substantial funding and will be implemented all over the state, official sources said.

Despite the opposition parties criticism that the scheme was primarily launched with an eye on the forthcomingHuzurabadby-election, the CM has reiterated that the scheme will be implemented in the entire state and will receive an overall allocation of Rs 1 lakh crore and in excess.

13 Lakh Farmers Await Rythu Bandhu in Telangana

Over 13 lakh farmers across owning more than five acres each are awaiting the Rythu Bandhu aid from the State Government, which is currently facing a shortage of funds for the scheme, according to official sources.

Already faced with a fund crunch for regular use, the government is learnt to have asked the finance department to give priority to paying salaries and pensions for employees and pensioners for the month of July. As of now, employees working in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts have received their salaries.

With July entering its third week, there is pressure from employees of other districts for salaries and pensions, forcing the finance department to channelise available funds towards the same.

For this season, the government has to disburse Rs 7,720.29 crore to 70 lakh farmers. It has disbursed Rs 4,377.42 crore till June 30, while disbursal of Rs 3,242.87 crore is pending. The direct account credit of Rythu Bandhu aid, of Rs 5,000 per acre, for the ongoing kharif season started on June 26.

As per the state logistics policy, Telangana will focus on development of a robust logistics infrastructure by encouraging investors to park funds in the development of multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs), integrated logistics parks and large-scale storage infrastructure facilities across the state.

As per the policy, the government will be offering incentives for setting up of warehouses of capacity greater than 1 lakh sft and cold storage capacity greater than 20,000 sft.

State bags 1,000 crore investment

Land auctions hit by Covid, Telangana govts plans to mop up Rs 10,000 crore go awry

The governments plans to mobilise Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore by selling governmentlandappears to have gone awry for the second consecutive year. Though the government has identified some land parcels in the city and surrounding Rangareddy district to raise Money by auctioning the land, it could not go ahead thanks to the first wave of Covid-19 and now the second wave.

Senior officials are worried as the third wave of pandemic is likely to hit sometime in the third quarter of the year and land auctions may not be held this year too. Land auction was last conducted in December 2019 by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) was held in May 2017.

The Telangana government is badly requiring funds as it had allocated nearly Rs 50,000 crore for various welfare schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Pensions, Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture loan waiver, Kalyana Lakshmi-Shaadi Mubarak and KCR Kits etc in the 2021-2022 financial year.

Centre turns down DPR for Telangana irrigation scheme

The Centre has turned down the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) proposed by theTelanganagovernment.

Taking the objections raised by AP, the project appraisal directorate in Central Water Commission (Cwc) made it clear that the DPR could not be taken up for examination until the KWDT-II gives its verdict on the issue. The project was proposed to take up with 45 tmc ft.

In a Communication sent to the chief engineer of irrigation department, CWC project directorate senior official Nityananda Mukhejee said that Andhra Pradesh government had informed that the issue ofGodavariwater diversion to the Krishna is one of the issues before the ongoing proceedings of KWDT-II.

Govt. to raise 1,500 crore through sale of securities

The has decided to raise 1,500 crore open market borrowings through the Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) to meet its immediate financial commitments.

The government has accordingly decided to sell securities worth 1,500 in the auction to be conducted by the RBI. The RBI will auction securities pertaining to Arunachal Pradesh (400 crore), Nagaland (350 crore) and Rajasthan (1,000 crore) in addition to Telangana during the auction. The auction would be conducted on the Reserve Bank of India Core Banking Solution (E-Kuber) system and payment by successful bidders would be made during banking hours on Tuesday at RBI head office in Mumbai and its regional offices.

The government is expected to incur additional expenditure in excess of 900 crore a month on account of the implementation of pay revision. In addition, the government had to credit 5,000 an acre each into the accounts of over 60 lakh farmers starting next month as Rythu Bandhu instalment for Vaanakaalam (kharif) season.
