Andhra Pradeshchief secretary Aditya Nath Das has filed an affidavit in the National Green Tribunal asking for prosecution of the State ofTelanganafor allegedly producing fake evidence before it in connection with theRayalaseema Lift IrrigationScheme.The chief secretary, in his affidavit, a copy available with TOI, alleged that the State of Telangana submitted a video of Pothireddypadu project works and claimed it asRayalaseema LiftIrrigation works.

Andhra Pradesh has filed its counter, stating that the works have undertaken only survey and investigation for preparation of Detailed Project Report as per the guidelines of the Central Water Commission.

The DPR was submitted to the Central Water Commission on June 30, 2021.

Centre takes over control of Krishna, Godavari irrigation projects amid AP, Telangana water row

With and Andhra Pradesh having been at loggerheads over water Shares, construction of projects and hydel power generation on Krishna and Godavari river basins, the Centre has taken over 107 major and medium Irrigation projects on both the rivers. The decision of the Ministry of Jal Shakti is expected to have serious implications on both the governments as both Telangana and AP will have no powers on the major and medium irrigation projects (both completed and ongoing projects) in their respective states. However, the Centre did not touch minor irrigation projects.

The gazette notification finalizing the jurisdiction of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) issued by the Ministry of Jal Shakti on Thursday night will come into force from October 14, 2021.

According to the notification, the projects and its components like overhead works (barrages, Dams, reservoirs, regulating structures), part of canal Network and transmission lines come into the purview of the centre. The boards, which are now almost toothless without powers, will now perform all the functions to regulate the supply of water and power generated from the projects.

Policy initiatives help healthy urbanisation of Hyd

Urbanization is inevitable as theeconomygrows. Cities are engines of economic Growth and the positive ripple effects of economic growth in urban areas lead to multi-fold increase in EMPLOYMENT andincome levels.
The national Average ofurbanisationin India is 31.16% presently.
Southern Indian states are more urban. The share of urban Population in in 2022, as per Telangana Socio-Economic Outlook 2022, is 46.8%. This puts Telangana among the top three urbanised states in the country along with Tamil Nadu at 48.45%, Kerala at 47.23% andMaharashtraat 45.23%.

Telangana will have more than 50% of its population urban before 2028, with Hyderabad Urban Agglomeration (HUA – the area within Outer Ring Road including Hyderabad) alone having at least 40% of the state’s population by then. This in turn implies that our GSDP will continue to grow faster than the rest of India.

Telangana already has a 20 MW plant running based on Waste to Energy (WTE) from the refuse derived fuel (RDF) at Jawaharnagar under PPP mode. Four new Plants (including doubling the capacity at Jawaharnagar) are under construction and Telangana shall produce 101 MW from WTE by March 2025, utilizing daily waste for the next three decades for HUA – a feat no other city will have in India.

A new legislation – Telangana Municipalities Act was enacted in 2019 replacing a number of archaic Acts. The central theme of this new Act is the citizen and how municipal Services serve the citizens in a time-bound transparent and user-convenient model. Among others, it brings professionalism in preparing and managing municipal budgets.
In order to bring Infrastructure improvements while acknowledging urban growth, the number of ULBs were increased from 68 to 142 in 2019. To strengthen these and also the existing ones, 4,700 crore worth of infrastructure works were sanctioned.

MahaMetros Neo plan to save Rs 2,000 crore for Warangal

After planning countrys first MetroNeo project forNashik, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, known as MahaMetro, has added yet another feather in its cap by providing design based on the innovative concept to Warangal city inTelangana.

As per the DPR, length of Warangal MetroNeo will be 15km and it will be built at a cost of about Rs1,000 crore. The cost per km of this project is Rs60 crore, against Rs180 crore per km of traditional heavy Metros.

Currently, Population of Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet cities is 20 lakh. It is expected to increase to 36 lakh in 2041. The peak hour per direction traffic (PHPDT) in 2041 is expected to be 8,000.

KTR: Largest integrated aqua hub to come up in Telangana

Not only isTelanganais all set to house the world’s largest integrated freshwater aqua hub spread over 370 acres at the Mid Manair dam inRajanna Sircilladistrict, the state is now working on setting up similar aqua hubs across the state wherever newreservoirsare coming up, industries minister KT Rama Rao said.

The aqua hub in Rajanna Sircilla will have 300 acres of processing area. It has garnered capital Investment of 1,300 crore by four players – US-based Fishin, Rajanna Aqua, Mulpuri Aqua and Ananda group. It is targeting annual exports of 1,000 crore with close to 12,000 direct and indirect jobs. The hub is slated to see fish production of over 1.2 lakh metric tonnes per annum.

Sharp rise in rabi cultivation ups energy consumption

Sharp increase in yasangi (rabi) cultivation this Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture year (2020-21) has pushed up the energy consumption significantly in the second crop season mainly the December-March period. There was an 18% spike in demand in March, the crucial stage for major , compared to March last.

The demand during the period was mainly from the farm sector as the commercial category of energy consumers, comprising tourism, hospitality, and malls did not return to normalcy completely, before the second wave of coronavirus hit the economic activity again.

The energy demand from the agriculture sector ranged between 25% and 35% of the total consumption during the four-month (rabi) period with the peak of 38% that touched in mid-March.

India’s largest prototyping centre, T-Works, got off to a hi-tech start with Foxconn chairmanYoung LiuandTelanganaindustries & IT minister unveiling the 78,000 sqft building via an innovative Kabuki drop (dramatic Japanese reveal style) amid fireworks and a colourful laser show.

The Foxconn boss also announced donation of a complete surface mount technology assembly line, which is used for assembling high-end electronics circuit boards, to T-Works. Addressing a gathering of over 1,000 people, including CEOs and founders of major companies, entrepreneurs, artists and hobbyists from across the world,KTRsaid he fulfilled his promise to Foxconn chairman, when he met him in Delhi that he would inaugurate T-Works only when Liu travelled to Hyderabad. KTR also pointed out that IT for him represented India & Taiwan, not information technology. India is a Software powerhouse and Taiwan is doing wonders in hardware.

Telangana Crop Diversification Index

is the first state in the country to record its crop diversification patterns in the form of an index.

The crop diversification index has a base value of one, which represents the Percentage of total cultivated area devoted to a single crop. If the index value is higher, it denotes that the crops are more diversified.

The present crop diversification index was calculated using the area under 77 different crops grown in the state, which includes all food, non-food, Cash Crops, and area under floriculture.

In Telangana, many districts have index values ranging from 0 to 5. The crop diversification index will serve as a baseline for future crop diversification in the state.

Observations

According to the crop diversification index, 77 varieties of crops are grown in Telangana.

Among 77 crops, only around 10 crops (mostly grains) are preferred for diversification.

Top three districts in terms of crop diversification are Nirmal, Vikarabad & Sangareddy.

Peddapalli, Karimnagar, and Suryapet are the bottom three districts in terms of crop diversification. In these districts, where paddy is widely cultivated, the maize Cropping area has decreased significantly, whereas the Cotton cropping area has increased.

Paddy, maize, and pulses are the most preferred crops in Telangana. Other high-priority crops for farmers in the state include wheat, jowar, bajra, chilies, etc.

The current crop diversification index value demonstrates that there is a greater need for the diversification of crops in Telangana to achieve Sustainable Development.

Telangana a role model in welfare for disabled: CM K Chandrasekhar Rao

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said the was making every effort to help disabled people.He said .

He said Telangana has set set an example for the entire country in the welfare of the disabled.

The CM said the government is providing 3,016 monthly pension to every disabled person in every family.When AP was a combined state, they were getting only 500 pension, he recalled.

Telangana budget may see record push for health allocation

With an eye on future pandemics and bolstering healthcare facilities,Health allocationin 2022-23 budget is expected to be Rs 1,2000 crore, way up from the current Rs 5,868 crore allocation.

The state may establish a separate corporation, similar to the Mission Bhagiratha commission, to raise loans for health allocations.

Telanganas allocation from the Centre for the national health mission in the current budget was Rs 1,010 crore. After Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and allied sectors, welfare departments, and Irrigation departments, the receives the highest budget allocation.

Medical and health expansion plans include increasing bed capacity, Oxygen treatment, health smart cards, and screening for non-communicable diseases. The State Government also intends to increase the number of normal deliveries in government hospitals.

The state government would need Rs 4,000 crore to upgrade Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) and four other super specialities around the city.
