Telangana to get new narcotics bureau T-NAB

Telanganapolice are in the process of startingTelangana- Bureau(T-NAB) on the lines ofHyderabad-Narcotics Enforcement Wing(H-NEW) which has been operational for over a year.

T-NAB will have enforcement units across Telangana. Proposals for setting up this statewide unit have been sent to the administration and an official government order is expected to be issued soon.

T-NAB head office will be located in Hyderabad Police commissionerate and will have offices infour police commissionerates in Telangana. In some rural districts, special teams will be formed

Amara Raja, GMR to jointly set up E-Hub

GMR Group said that Amara Raja Batteries has inked a land lease agreement to set up an advanced energy research and innovation centre E-Hub at the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park at AeroCity Hyderabad.

The E-Hub is being set up by Amara Raja group as part of its 9,500 crore giga corridor project and will also support start-ups through incubation, lab spaces and a collaborative ecosystem.

Amara Raja Batteries executive director Vikramadithya Gourineni said the unique facility, which would be open to all players, would hasten the development of viable technologies in the new energy space.

Centre seeks report on Andhra, Telangana power utility dues

The Centre has asked AP andgovernments to submit reports regarding dues to power utilities. The Centre also directed the state governments to get comprehensive reports from key departments that were involved in disputes in order to resolve them.

A high-level committee headed by Union joint secretary in the Home ministry, Ashish Kumar, held the first meeting on resolution of disputes between the Telugu states on Thursday. AP special chief secretary (finance), S S Rawat, and Telangana special chief secretary (finance), K Ramakrishna Rao, attended the session held in virtual mode from New Delhi.

It is learnt that Telangana special chief secretary said that AP had to pay dues to Telangana. AP had also demanded the Centre to amend the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 to remove the anomalies in the tax division between both the states.

IIIT-Hyderabad data collection to aid Ego4D project

International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH), the only Indian institute in Facebook AIs ambitious Ego4D project, has collected data from people across 25 locations in the country. A global consortium of 13 universities and labs are participating in Facebooks Ego4D project, which collected first-person footage from around the world to train next-generation (AI) models.

The researchers said that the data set has a wide variety of scenes, people, and activities. Initially, we wanted to have a team that could travel across the country and participate in data collection. But with the pandemic, we had to find multiple local teams and ship cameras as well as data. We had to train people over Videos, said CV Jawahar of Centre for Visual Information Technology, IIITH.

Telangana Grameena Bank net profit up by 76% in FY21

The Grameena Bank (TGB) for 2020-21 has posted a net profit of 301 crore, an increase of 75.92% from the 171.10 crore registered in the previous fiscal.

This came on the back of total business increasing 15.63% to 20,212.97 crore (17,480.28 crore). While deposits grew more than 12% to 10,109.15 crore, advances at 10,103.82 crore were a little over 19% higher.

The Net Interest Margin was 4.08% (-1.34%). Gross NPA increased to 2.25% (2.08%), while net NPA declined to 0.29% (0.41%). A release on the pre-audited results for 2020-21 said the regional rural bank operates through a Network of 424 branches in the five erstwhile districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Rangareddy and Hyderabad.

State budget set to touch 2.2L cr: KCR

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said is a rich state, claiming that the state budget will soon touch 2.2 lakh crore. He said that when Telangana was formed in 2014, the state budget was just 62,000 crore.

All districts in Telangana to have godowns for EVMs

To preserve Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), new godowns have been constructed across the state. While 20 have been completed, another two will be ready by month end. Once this is done, all districts would have separate godowns for storing EVMs.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shashank Goel held a video conference with collectors and issued instructions to shift EVMs to new godowns. He also said revised voters list must be ready by January 5, 2022. Applications for registration of new voters, online and offline, should be checked at booth level and additions/corrections must be done by December 20.

Telangana: 1.5 lakh visually impaired voters to get Braille guides

In another step towards making the voting process easier for visually impaired electors, voters guides will be made available inBraillefor the next general . Officials said that nearly 1.5 lakh visually impaired voters InTelanganawill be benefited through the new initiative.

Currently, visually challenged voters have voter ID cards in Braille script and at the voting booth, they are also provided with ballot papers in Braille. With the new initiative coming into force, they can read the guidelines before going to the polling booth without depending on others.

TheElection Commission of Indiaasked the states to print the guides in regional languages. In Telangana, the commissioner and director, Welfare Of Disabled, has translated the guidelines from Hindi toTeluguand soon the same will also be printed in Braille script.

Telangana: Fourth century sculpture found in Nalgonda

Archaeologists have found a fourth century stone plaque of Mahishasuramardhini of Vishnukundin period in Nalgonda district.

The miniature stone plaque of Mahishasuramardhini was reported from the outskirts of Panagal, a temple town in Nalgonda district. E Siva Nagi Reddy, archaeologist, along with D Suryakumar, a Nalgonda-based epigraphist and historian, examined the sculpture in detail.

The plaque was recovered by the farmers of Dandempalli village located on the Panagal-Kattangoor road at a distance of three km from Panagal. They found it some time back while digging a channel for agricultural purpose.
