Rajasthan govt announces Rs 10 crore budget to promote cattle rearing

Faced with a declining number of camels in Rajasthan, the has announced a ‘Camel Protection and Development Policy’ in its budget 2022-23.Camelis the state animal ofRajasthanand their number is continuously decreasing.

The demand for camel protection in the state has been rising for a long time.
Considering this, chief ministerAshok Gehlotproposed a budget of Rs 10 crore in the next financial year under the new policy for rearing, protection, and overall development of the state animal.

According to the government figures, there are now less than two lakh camels left in the state, while the number of camels in the entire country has reduced by 1.5 lakh since 2012.
There were about 2.5 lakh camels left when counted last in 2019.

According to the data released by the centre in the Parliament in December, there were 4 lakh camels across India in the 2012 Livestock census, and by the 2019 census their number had dwindled to 2.52 lakh.

According to the 2019 animal census, the number of camels in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya and Nagaland officially fell to zero, while in 2012, these states had 45, 03, 07 and 92 camels respectively.

About 85 per cent of the country’s camels are found in Rajasthan followed by Gujarat, Haryana,Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

According to the information given in the Parliament, the number of camels in Rajasthan in 2012 was 3,25,713, which had reduced to 2,12,739 in 2019.

Rajasthan: Placement & training under central scheme drop in 3 years

Even as the funds released by the Centre for the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) increased to 97.14 crore in 2020-21 from 32.82 crore in 2018-19, the number of people trained and placed inRajasthanunder the scheme has dropped over the past three years.

From 10,217 trained and 3,380 placed in 2018-19, the figures dropped to 981 and 1,759 in 2020-21, stated a Lok Sabha reply. While 14,530 were trained in 2019-20, 4,692 were placed in the same year under the scheme, the reply stated.

Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries under the National Social Assistance Programme in state up from 10.28 lakh in 2018-19 to 10.69 lakh in 2020-21. DDU-GKY is focused on rural youth between 15 and 35 years of age. As a part of the Skill India campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government like the , Digital India, Smart Cities, Start-Up India and Stand-Up India campaigns.

Midday meals at most government schools in the state have been affected due to inadequate supply of dry ration.

The most recent cases are from government schools in Jaipurs Jamwa Ramgarh block. The number of ration packets received by these schools was less than that of the number of students enrolled. This has resulted in irregularities and parents have started complaining.

Ration is being supplied for July 2020 to March 2021. Students who were enrolled in July 2020 were taken into consideration, but the ones who took admission later are yet to be considered for the distribution.

Advocates Protection Bill passed

The assembly passed theRajasthanAdvocates protectionBill2023, the first-of-its-kind in the country. Lawyers, who have boycotted courts for the last 32 days after a spate of attacks on their peers, have been demanding the Act for a long time.

The Bill has been passed with amendments including provision of assault on court premises deleted and punishment for lawyers for misuse of the Act has been reduced from three years to two years.

The groups, staging a dharna atShaheed Smarak, has termed the draft of theBillweak and ineffective. They suggested the time limit for the complaint redressal officer to submit the grievance redressal and ATR (action taken report) should be 30 days.

The board ofRajasthanSmall Industries Corporation (Rajsico) recently approved a public-private PARTNERSHIP (PPP) model for one of the four Rajasthali outlets to modernise Services and product portfolio to make it profitable.

Over 200 crore wage liability in Rajasthan under NREGA, states Lok Sabha reply

There was a pending liability of Rs 241 crore for wage component underMGNREGAinRajasthan(as on December 8), aLok Sabhareply has stated.
A wage liability of Rs 3,655 crore under MGNREGA is pending in the whole country (as on December 8).

Rajasthan is fourth highest among all states in terms of pending liabilities for wage component underNREGA.

Minister of state (MoS) in the ministry of rural development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti gave a reply on wage arrears under MGNREGA to an unstarred question raised by MP Kalyan Banerjee in Lok Sabha. West Bengal had a wage liability under the EMPLOYMENT guarantee scheme of Rs 1,526 crore, which was highest in the country. It was followed by Karnataka with Rs 613 crore and Madhya Pradesh with Rs 561 crore.

Crop loss: Rajasthan seeks Rs 2,668 crore more from Centre for farmers

The sought an additional assistance of Rs 2,668 crore from the Centre to help the farmers affected by crop loss.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the memorandum to be sent to the Centre in this regard.

According to an official statement, the state government will seek additional assistance of Rs 2,668.55 crore from the central government for distribution of agricultural input grants and conducting relief activities for farmers affected by 33% or more crop loss due to drought in Kharif-2021.

During the kharif 2021, crop loss assessment was done and a report was prepared. On the basis of its report, 64 tehsils of 10 districts of Ajmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Jalore, Jaisalmer, Pali, Sirohi, Churu and Jodhpur have been declared drought prone.

Rajasthan ranks fourth in national vaccination drive

More than 6 lakh doses ofCovidvaccines were administered to beneficiaries in the state on Tuesday, taking the inoculation count to 4.05 crore mark. Out of the total figures, 3.07 crore are first doses and 98.36 lakh are second.

Rajasthanis now placed at fourth spot in the list of the maximum vaccinations in the country. It was at the fifth position till Tuesday morning, but it climbed one position as Madhya Pradesh slipped to the 5th spot. Uttar Pradesh, with more than 6.51crore doses, tops the list, followed byMaharashtra(5.4 crore) andGujarat(4.36crore).

At a time when the Health department is focusing on vaccination, the number of Covid daily infections continued to remain between 5 and 20 cases daily. Ten persons tested positive forCovid-19 in the state on Tuesday taking the overall tally to 9,54,040. The states death toll stands at 8,954.

Districts which reported new cases are Jaipur (5), Bharatpur (2) and one case each was reported from Bikaner,Ajmerand Alwar.
