2,346 km of missing link roads across Rajasthan to be developed

A presentation of the public works department (PWD) has shown that 2,346 kms of missing link roads have been identified in the state. The has sanctioned Rs 653 crore for developing 1,075 such missing link roads.

Also, Rs 81 crore has been sanctioned for construction of 370 kms of non-patchable roads in all the assembly constituencies across the state.

In the state governments budget announcement it was proposed to sanction Rs 5 crore each for every assembly constituency for the construction of missing link and non-patchable roads. There are 200 assembly constituencies in the state.

Rajasthan export council to hold international handicraft expo in Jodhpur

Recently formedRajasthan Exports Promotion Councilhas decided to hold its first ever international trade expo in March next year to promote handicrafts, jewellery and other products where the state enjoys reputation globally.

REPCchairmanRajiv Arorasaid that the handicraft expo will give the artisans and the to promote teir products before the global and domestic buyers. The exhibition will be held from March 11-13, 2023.

Rajasthan panel to issue norms to check assault on kids

The state child commission will issue guidelines to prevent assault of children by the teachers following the death of a student in Churu who was beaten up by a teacher leading to the childs death. The child panel has started working on the SOPs for the same keeping in mind the Juvenile Act and these guidelines will be issued to the concerned departments in the coming days.

The commission had immediately taken cognizance of the incident and asked Churu Police regarding a detailed report about the case as well as the measures taken for swift investigation. The child rights body also urged the officials to conduct a swift investigation and present the chargesheet at the earliest in order to ensure that the family gets justice.

Average rainfall 9% less this year in Rajasthan as compared to 2020

Even after the completion of almost six phases of the south west monsoon, almost 13 districts in the state are parched with deficit rainfall. Also, the Average rainfall of the state is still 8.8% less compared to what it was received till September 2, 2020. Jaipur Met office stated that till September 15 south west monsoon will bring widespread rainfall activity.

The figures of the monsoon on average rainfall in various parts of the state suggested that 13 districts in the state are still in the category of the deficit rainfall. District collectors in the affected districts have also been told to make a contingency plan for the drought or drought like situation.

Sriganganagar district has received a rainfall of 74 mm so far in this season which is very low while Baran received rainfall of 1074.90 mm which is highest in the state.

ERCP to become the lifeline of eastern Raj in next few years

No matter who wins the assembly , if the EasternRajasthanCanal Project (ERCP) is not completed within the stipulated deadline, there will be severe water scarcity in states 13 districts.

State Government officials working on the projects development said that if it is not completed on time then in the next five years the Population of 13 districts, including Jaipur, will face water scarcity.

Besides the projected Growth of population, the state government recently introduced a notification for providing drinking water connections in residential complexes across the state. The way multi-storey buildings are developing in Jaipur and district cities and town, ERCP will become essential in the coming times

Cabinet push for setting up of legislative council in Rajasthan

The council of ministers unanimously decided to convey the state governments opinion to the Centre to constitute the legislative council as per the provision of the Constitution. The assembly had already passed a resolution to this effect earlier.

The cabinet also approved to launch the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS) on the lines of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) from this month with the objective of providing better treatment to the employees and pensioners of the , bodies, boards and corporations including MLAs and ex-legislators.

Under the campaign in villages, the work of 19 departments will be conducted on the spot in special camps at 11,341gram panchayat headquarters. This will help to solve the problems of the common people on the spot. Similar campaigns will be held in urban areas.

The cabinet has approved the draft notification of Rajasthan Educational (State and Subordinate) Service Rules-2021 with a view to bring uniformity and SIMPLIFICATION in the service rules of the personnel of Education department. The amendment to the service rules is expected to create more promotional opportunities and would improve the quality of education. According to new rules, additional director and joint director posts will now need four years of experience, post of DEO will be filled by promotion, qualification for principal will be PG and for lecturer will be UG and PG in the same subject.

The cabinet has approved amendments to the Rajasthan Police Subordinate Services Rules, 1989. After this amendment, there will be no need to give separate age relaxation again and again for direct recruitment of subordinate police service in future. The permission of the state government had to be obtained repeatedly for providing relaxation in upper age limit to candidates in case of non-recruitment every year.

The cabinet has given its approval to amend the Rajasthan Technical Education Subordinate Services Rules, 1973 for the employees of Government Polytechnic Colleges.

New forest policy in Raj aims at raising vegetation cover to 20%

Rajasthan’snew forest policy, which was released on Monday, aims to increase vegetation cover to 20% of the geographical area within the next 20 years, with focus on increasing vegetation cover outside forests.

At present, 9.6% of the state’s geographical area comes under forest area, but as per the Indian State of Forest Report 2021, the forest cover in terms of vegetation cover is only 4.87% of the state’s geographical area.

TheRajasthan Forest Policy2023 spells its vision as, “To promote the sustainable management of forests, wildlife, and Protected Areas through scientific, traditional and experiential knowledge towards the overall achievement of ecological, economical and social well-being and increase vegetation cover to 20% of the geographical area within next 20 years with special focus on increasing vegetation outside forests.”

To achieve this vision, the policy proposes measures like protection and consolidation, ecological restoration, sustainability, expansion, evidence-based approach, and participation of stakeholders.

The policy states that the authorities will focus on promoting natural regeneration and artificial regeneration on forest lands; take up protection, conservation, and plantation on community lands like gochar, oran, charagah, etc.
The policy also mentions that increasing tree cover outside forests will be done through distribution of tall Plants to individuals/ farmers.

Rajasthan ranks 29th in rural piped water scheme out of 33 states

Rajasthanranks a lowly 29th among 33 states and Union Territories in tapwaterconnections in rural areas under the Centres flagship Jal Jeevan Mission Har Ghar Jal scheme as of May 31.

The countrys most water distressed state has added just 8.11 lakh tap water connections against 4.22 crore connections under the scheme since August 2019. For every 100 tap connections in villages, 0.6 were achieved in the state. Ideally, the figure has to be 5%. Since the beginning, the scheme has been embroiled in Centre-state trouble.

The Centre has allocated Rs 2,522 crore to the state under the scheme in 2020-21 while it is expected to give Rs 5, 500 crore under the head.

Baran tops, Jaipur ranks 6th in implementing free medicine scheme

Baran secured the first rank in implementing free medicine schemes in the state, followed by Sriganganagar at number two and Bikaner at number three. Jaipur was positioned at 6th rank in implementing the scheme.
In the state ranking issued for implementation of thefree medicine scheme, tribal dominated districts, western districts in desert areas and underdeveloped districts such as Dholpur, Karauli are lagging in free medicine scheme.

The ranking was adjudged on the basis of parameters including stock availability of drugs, stock not available at hospitals, stock is less than three-month consumption, drug distribution counters not working, Average delay in drug district counter opening and drugs not available at drug distribution counters. The Health department has issued directions to districts to ensure that the scheme is properly implemented, and availability of the drugs should be ensured.
