No. 1 state in solar energy, Raj crosses 10k MW milestone

capacity inRajasthanhas crossed the 10,000-megawatt milestone, accounting for 20% of the total capacity in the country. Already the No. 1 state in terms of capacity, Rajasthans lead overKarnatakaand Gujarat has further increased.

Additional chief secretary (mines, petroleum, energy) andCMD of RREC Subodh Agarwalsaid according to data issued by the ministry of new & RENEWABLE ENERGY, Rajasthan has achieved more than 10GW solar capacity addition. After the rollout of renewable energy policy, the scenario of the solar sector has drastically changed. Within the three-year period, 6,552MW additional capacity has been developed. Out of 49GW installed solar capacity in the country, Rajasthan has alone developed 10.5GW as of now.

Tourism dept plans to launch river cruise, says minister

In a bid to add diversity to the existing tourism products and attract domestic tourists, the tourism department is planning to start river cruise and introduce houseboat accommodation in the state.

Tourism ministerVishvendra Singhsaid that for some time the foreign tourists are not going to come and our focus should be on attracting domestic travellers. We have monuments and palaces. But we need to create more activity-based tourism to attract domestic travellers.Rajasthanhas huge tourism potential and we have been able to realize only 20 per cent of it. That means we can do much better, said Singh. He said they had a meeting with the senior officials ofHeritage River Journeys, which currently owns and operates four luxury river cruise vessels across India.

Rajasthan govt likely to get Sputnik as an additional option

The has ordered for one lakh doses of Sputnik and is likely to get it after Russian companies cold storage issue would be sorted out. The decision was made by the state government to ensure uninterrupted supply of Vaccines and to have additional option for the beneficiaries looking for free vaccination.

Earlier, Health ministerRaghu Sharmahad announced to get vaccines from the Russian company and even from other companies while the state was getting interrupted supply of vaccines.

Patients from neighbouring states fill Rajasthan hospitals

Patients from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are coming toRajasthanfor Covid treatment following the state governments no refusal policy in hospitals and providing treatment to patients irrespective of their state.

The state is battling against Covid and its hospitals are almost full, especially in Jaipur and Jodhpur. But, in the last two to three days, the state witnessed significant reduction in active cases due to sharp increase in recovered cases.

In just two days, 53,899 persons defeated Covid in the state, which has brought down the number of active cases further to 1,76,363. However, the state is continuously reporting deaths above 150. As many as 157 persons lost their lives to Covid-19 taking the states toll to 6,934.

Rajasthan tops PM SHRI school selection

Under the PM Schools for Rising India (PMSHRI) initiative, 402 government schools inRajasthanhave been selected in the first phase, the maximum number of schools from any state to be thus selected.

Under PM SHRI, Rs 2 crore will be given to each school for upgrading and Resources. BD Kalla, state Education minister, said the selection of so many schools reflected the Gehlot governments success in improving school education.

The maximum number of government schools have been selected from Rajasthan in the first phase of PM SHRI scheme, including 346 government schools of secondary education and 56 government schools of primary education.

A total of 718 schools in the state will be included in this scheme, out of which Rajasthan has achieved special success by having 56% of the schools selected in the first phase itself. It is proposed that the remaining schools will be selected in the second phase in the month of July.

The benchmarks for the selection of government schools for this scheme include enrolment more than the state’s Average enrolment, pucca building of schools in good condition, separate toilets for boys and girls, facility of pure drinking water, separate facility for hand washing, all teachers having ID cards as per guidelines, free access ramp, focus on security, electricity connection, library and necessary facilities forsportsactivities.

The maximum 28 schools have been selected from Jaipur, 24 from Jodhpur, 22 from Udaipur, 21 from Barmer and the rest from other districts. The least numbert is six schools from Sirohi and five schools from Bundi.

The PM SHRI envisages development of 14,500 government schools across the country. These schools will act as exemplar schools showcasing all components of the National Education Policy 2020 and offer mentorship to other local schools.

Industries dept scouts for sites to develop craft village in Raj

The industries department is conducting surveys to develop a handicraft village, for which the Centre gives grants up to Rs 10 crore. The department had earlier proposed to develop Nayla near Jaipur as a craft village, but sources said the ACS, industries, preferred another village.

Nayla has already been taken up as one of the eight clusters for development of handicraft and tourism linkage. The department is now looking at villages like Kot Jewar in Bagru, known for blue ; Kaithun in Kota, where Kota Doria sarees are made; Molela in Rajsamand, famous for terracotta; Salawas in Jodhpur, where a large number of people are engaged in Dari making; and the weavers village of Thut in Jaisalmer.

While the industries department is looking to tap the Central scheme, it has already made a provision in its recently introduced handicraft policy for identifying regions where artisans live and work so that craft villages can be developed there.

Fresh module for anganwadi centres to improve nutrition

The state Education department has developed a fresh module for anganwadi centres (AWC) to improve Nutrition and Learning outcomes among children aged 3-5 years from the next academic session.

The Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research & Training (RSCERT) developed a manual that says every AWC will have at least one teacher with a certificate or a diploma course in nutrition.

The state has 60,000 AWCs that are responsible for the healthcare and early childhood education of children.

The manual says Health check-ups of children will take place digitally to maintain records and allow the central data centre monitor real-time data.

The purpose is to provide real-time help or intervention required by children of the centre. Otherwise, the health check-ups maintained manually take weeks to reach even the district authorities.

The curriculum of early childhood is going to see learning based on the activities and concepts. The idea is to introduce children to an understanding of colours, family, animals and things around them.

Rajasthan police to spend 12 crore on development projects

Rajasthan Police will spend 12 crore from its development fund for new labs, skill training and modernising its different branches with digital tools.

The state polices development fund empowered panel, headed byDGP ML Lather, met on to discuss grants for different projects. Rs 2 crore will be spent to modernise the 71Mobile Investigation Unitsand Rs 25 lakh onMobile Data Terminals(MDTs) on new police vehicles.

Four reservoirs for western Rajasthan under Jal Jeevan Mission

Four reservoirswill be constructed in Jaisalmer,Jodhpurand Bikaner to meet existing and projecteddrinking waterneeds in nine districts of the state under theJal Jeevan Mission(JJM).

The ministry has allocated Rs 1,275 crore to create sustainable water sources in the escape channels of Indira Gandhi Nagar Yojana (IGNP). The entire exercise will create an additional storage capacity of 1,100 cusec of water in three districts.

The state would require around 2,132 cusec to fulfill its water needs till 2054 under the JJM. The reservoirs under the scheme will come up at Bikaner, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.

Looking at the lukewarm interest from bars and restaurants for micro-breweries, thefinance departmenthas reduced excise duty from Rs 60 per bulk litre to Rs 40.

For the first time, in the excise policy for 2021-22, the government had allowed setting up of micro-breweries in the state.

But according to the , two restaurants have already started setting up the breweries inJaipur city. While the government included in the policy of giving licences for micro-breweries, bars and restaurant have not shown interest.

There are many cities in India where micro-breweries are operating, offering beer freshly brewed with different flavours and concoctions. In some cities, the freshly made beers are also supplied to other bars and restaurants.

Being a tourist state, micro-breweries could be a new attraction for the tourists. But it is yet to take off right now.
