Maharashtra govt presents record additional expenditure totaling Rs 31,000 crore

TheMaharashtragovernment on Wednesday presented supplementary demands totalling Rs 31,298.26 crore, the highest amount so far under the MVA government.

The has budgeted Rs 435 crore for the Maharashtra State Backward Classes Commission (MSBCC), which was declared as a dedicated commission forOBCreservation four months ago. The state government released Rs 5 crore from its contingency fund to the commission last week.

An amount of Rs 1,152 crore has been earmarked for creating Health Infrastructure during the pandemic. Another Rs 1,000 crore has been earmarked for providing ex-gratia to the families of those who died due to Covid-19. That apart, the government has earmarked Rs 1,410.8 crore to provide relief to the farmers whose crops were damaged by the devastating rains in August and September.

Supplementary demands are additional expenditure that are not part of the main budget. A total of Rs 1,150 crore has been budgeted for the loss-makingMaharashtra State Road Transport Corporation(MSRTC), which is reeling under a financial crisis and also the ongoing employee strike. The government recently announced a salary hike for all ST employees.

No Maharashtra village will merge with any other state, says CM Eknath Shinde

Chief ministerEknath Shindesaid that no village of Maharashtra will be allowed to merge with any other state.

Shinde’s statement comes against the backdrop of his Karnataka counterpart Basavraj Bommai’s comment.

Bommai had said that his government is actively considering the resolution of the Jath taluka villages to merge with Karnataka, as the Maharashtra government had allegedly failed to address the water and Irrigation problems there.

The resolution adopted by those villages was way back in 2012 when they faced water problems. However, since then, schemes have been planned in the Jath taluka villages, and some of them have been already been implemented. Others will be implemented in due course of time.

Aurangabad city moves up to 22nd position

The historic city ofAurangabadhas improved its ranking to 22ndpositionin the annualcleanliness surveyamong cities with more than 10 lakh Population.
Last year, the city was ranked 26th in the country and 8th at the state level. The city is now ranked 6th in the state in the survey, whose results were released by the ministry of housing and urban affairs.

Notably, the Aurangabad has moved past local civic bodies of Nagpur, Kalyan Dombivli, Vasai Virar and Mumbai in the ranking. Aurangabad secured 3,765 points from total 6,000, said an official release.

Rs 4,264 crore rail works okayed for Maharashtra under South Central Railway: Union minister Raosaheb Danve

Amid outcry over biased treatment to Nanded division by the South Central RAILWAY (SCR), Union minister of state for railways Raosaheb Danve on Wednesday said rail works worth Rs 4,264 crore have been sanctioned for Maharashtra under the jurisdiction of SCR.

Danve said doubling of railway line between Mudkhed-Parbhani for a length of 81-km has already been completed whereas electrification works between Akola-Lohagad for a distance of 34 km have also been accomplished.

In regard to the status of new rail line between Ahmednagar and Parli via Beed, Danve said the new rail line work between Beed and Parli for a distance of 30-km has been completed and another stretch of 30-km was expected to get over during the current financial year.

Poor demand for engineering courses and low enrolment for higher secondary certificate (HSC) exams has brought down the registration for the state common entrance test for courses in engineering, architecture, pharmacy, among other professions.

The registrations have declined by nearly 1 lakh, this year. The common entrance test (CET) will be held in August and admissions would be conducted based on the merit list announced as per theCETscores.

Maha sends DPRs of five dams to Goa for scrutiny

TheMaharashtra governmenthas prepared revised detailed project reports (DPR) for four Dams at Virdi and one in Ambadgao in Dodamarg taluka, and sent them to the Goa government for scrutiny. The dams will utilise water from tributaries flowing into Goa.

After the tribunal gave its final award pertaining to the allocation of water, Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka each filed special leave petitions before The Supreme Court to enhance their .

As required, Karnataka accordingly prepared a revised DPR of its damming and diversion schemes, and obtained the necessary approval from the Central Water Commission.

As the proposed damming schemes of Maharashtra cover a command area of less than 2,000 hectares, it is not mandatory to take prior approval from the Central Water Commission.

The study added that ROCM was primarily manifested by facial or eye pain (23%), swelling (edema) on face or near eyes (21%), and loss of vision (19%). The study includes doctors from Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot.

OBC panel calls Maratha group for talks
