About 20 districts in Karnataka are among the top 50 in the country to implement the ambitious eSanjeevani scheme, under the National Telemedicine Service (NTS) of the Union government. The state is in the second position after Andhra Pradesh.

Despite the lack of Internet penetration, the initiative has now completed 1 crore consultations across the nation, of which nearly 20 lakh is from Karnataka. Interestingly, some of the backward districts of North-Karnataka are also leading, indicating the dedicated field work carried out by the district Health departments. As OPDs were closed during the lockdowns, more people started to use this service and now continue the same for risk-free consultations.

According to the data shared by the Union health and family welfare department, Ballari has recorded the highest engagement registering 1,34,967 consultations which is also higher than Bengaluru urban district. It is ranked 13th place in the country. The NTS comprises of two variants of eSanjeevani namely doctor to doctor (eSanjeevani AB-HWC) telemedicine platform that is based on a hub and spoke model and patient to doctor telemedicine platform (eSanjeevaniOPD) which provides outpatient Services to the citizens in the confines of their. The former was introduced in 2019 and the latter was in April 2020.

Karnataka approves Foxconn’s Rs 8,000-crore mobile manufacturing unit plan near Bengaluru

The Karnataka government on Monday, through its state high-level clearance committee (SHLCC), cleared the proposedRs 8,000-crore by Taiwanese company Foxconn.
The project is to manufacture mobile devices and is expected to come up on the outskirts of Bengaluru, across the Doddaballapur and Devanahalli taluks.
The project received the green Light at a meeting that saw 10 proposals worth Rs 75,393 crore being cleared.

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai: Inter-State Water Disputes Act needs to be totally amended

Karnatakachief minister BasavarajBommai said the ‘Inter-State Water Disputes Act‘ needs to be totally amended, as it creates more disputes than resolving them. He was addressing the southern states’ conclave on the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission‘ and ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ (Rural) Projects.

Assuring relentless efforts for time bound implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission projects in Karnataka, Bommai said, of the 97.91 lakh rural households, tapped water has to be provided for 25 lakh households in the initial phase, while the achievement has been about 18 lakh, and the target of 25 lakh would be met within the next few months.

Smart City waterfront project gains momentum

The much-awaited waterfront development project has gained momentum, with the Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL), the special purpose vehicle (SPV), commencing the work on some of the projects, including a promenade.

The waterfront development project planned under the Smart City Mission, aims at converting approximately a 5km stretch, from Netravati bridge to Bolar in the city, into attractive tourist spots. The MSCL has earmarked a total of Rs 185 crore for the implementation of the waterfront development project.

Through the promenade project, the MSCL has plans to develop the waterfront as an active recreational and commercial hub, with gardens, parks, pedestrian-friendly walkways, bicycle track, boardwalks, nature park and adventure Sports, to promote tourism.

Karnataka signs Rs 2.1 lakh crore of investment agreements on Day 1

TheKarnatakagovernment signed MoUs worth Rs 2.1 lakh crore on the inaugural day of Invest Karnataka, its flagship global investors meet in Bengaluru. Chief minister BasavarajBommaisaid there is a shift in the power balance that puts India at an advantage.

Bommai said the government had approved investments worth Rs 2.8 crore even before the investors meet.

Karan Adani, CEO of Adani & Special Economic Zone, said the group will invest more in the RENEWABLE ENERGY sector in Karnataka. The group has invested over Rs 20,000 crore in the state so far. The company has a cement manufacturing capacity of over seven million tonnes across four Plants in the state.

Investors in Karnataka will get tax incentives for job creation: CM Basavaraj Bommai

New investors inKarnatakamay get a boost as the plans to encourage them to hire more people with tax incentives.

At present, he said the manufacturing sector gets a tax incentive for Investment but the government wants to extend it for number of jobs they can create. This could compensate for job losses in the state due to Covid-19.

Karnataka is the only state which has not cut salaries of government employees. As far as the private sector is concerned, the pandemic, over the past18 months, has taken away a lot of jobs in the state but people are getting jobs due to the revival. We hope the situation will improve over the next 3-4 months and more jobs will be restored.

Over 10,000 child marriages attempted in 5 years in Karnataka

Between April 2017 and March 2022, theKarnatakagovernment received complaints or tip-offs about 10,352 attempts of child marriage and 9,261 (about 90%) were prevented. In all, 860 FIRs were registered against people involved in getting minors married or at least tried it in the same period.

Experts and officials point out that most child marriages occur largely due to POVERTY, illiteracy, superstition or to ease what elders see as their burden of having a girl child.

Data of the Karnataka Women and child development department shows that 1,091 child marriages actually took place.

According to sections 9 and 13 of the Act, if the girl is a minor, then the man will be charged with a penalty and severe imprisonment. Sections 10 and 11 provide for imprisonment of at least 1-2 years for those supporting and encouraging such marriages aside from a penalty of Rs 1 lakh.

The geotagging of nearly 600 saplings that were planted at the Government Higher Primary School Golithattu near Nelyadi last month, was completed recently. This is part of a study to compare a normal forest with the Miyawaki forests, or the urban forests that are gaining in popularity across India.

Geographical tagging, also known as geotagging, is the process of adding geographical identification data. This data consists of latitude and longitude coordinates. The coordinates could then be used to identify the geo-tagged tree, and monitor them through satellites.

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai inducted 29 ministers into his cabinet, retaining most of the faces from his predecessor BSYediyurappa’s ministry.

The keenly-awaited cabinet expansion comes a week after Bommai took charge as the chief minister of the state, following the resignation of Yediyurappa.

Bommai had earlier said he will not have any deputy chief ministers in his cabinet as per the directions of the high command. Yediyurappa’s younger son and state BJP vice president B Y Vijayendra was not included in the cabinet.
