Buoyed by the overwhelming response to its fibre to the home (FTTH) internet service, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to provide 1 lakh new connections to consumers in Jamshedpur in the next three years. At present the state telecom giant has 35,000 FTTH subscribers in the State out of which Jamshedpur circle has 17,000 subscribers.

During the pandemic Covid-19 our base has increased. BSNLs Fiber net service is a true enabler in synergising the work from Home culture along with seamlessly providing e-Education or ability to connect with each other, said KK Singh, KK Singh, CGMT Jharkhand Circle, addressing the media on the occasion of 22nd foundation day of BSNL.

He said that they have set a target to provide one lakh new connections in the next three years.

He went on to add that BSNL has entered into a collaborative model with various cluster partners to boost FTTH sales. This has resulted into a significant Growth in FTTH business, resulting in not only mitigating the decline in revenue but also contributing to its positive growth.

Sanjeev Verma, general manager of BSNLs Jamshedpur area, said that Jamshedpur has been designated as the largest business area in Jharkhand circle by BSNL headquarters. Around 45 per cent of the total growth of FTTH in Jharkhand circle comes from Jamshedpur.

BSNL is also focussing on boosting FTTH Services across three districts of East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum (which falls under the Jamshedpur business area) .

To provide the state-of-the-art solution for citizens who are part of Work from Home, BSNLs Bharat Fibre has received significant response from customers across the country including Jamshedpur. Through Bharat Fibre , BSNL is providing speed upto 300 Mbps and data upto 4000 GB per month which comes to around 130 GB per day.

The PHD MSME Committee and Jharkhand State Chapter of the Chamber organised a Virtual Conference on Unleashing MSME Potential in Jharkhand in Association with SIDBI & Supported by FJCCI.

Secretary General, PHDCCI, Saurabh Sanyal, in his welcome address highlighted the challenges faced by MSMEs despite contributing significantly to the economy. Challenges like bottle necks, constraints in technology adoption, high Logistics cost and lack of access to credit have been further compounded for the MSMEs due to the Covid 19 pandemic, pointed out Sanyal. He underlined that non availability of adequate and timely credit is a serious problem which the MSMEs are facing currently. To address these liquidity problems, credit support has been announced by the Government through the Atmanirbhar package. Lastly, he talked about the schemes launched by SIDBI which facilitate funding for production and Services related to supply of Oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, oximeters and essential drugs.

Former CMD, NSIC and Advisor MSMEs PHD Chamber, H P Kumar, shared the difficulties and challenges faced by the MSMEs.

He talked about the Industry perspective of the MSME Sector and briefed about salient features of the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Policy (JIPP) which is quite favourable for MSMEs Growth and to attract more investment in the state.

He highlighted that while the Governments have taken ample measures to help and provide financial incentives to MSMEs, there is need for their adequate implementation.

Adani Groups Godda thermal plant starts commercial ops

TheAdani Groups newly commissioned 2X800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Jharkhands Godda district has begun its commercial operations from June 26, the company said in a statement.
The reliability run rest, including the commercial operation tests of the new second unit, was completed on June 25 in presence of the officials of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and the Power Grid Corporation of Bangladesh, the statement added. The first unit of the plant began its commercial operations on April 6.

The Rs 25,000 crore unit will supply 1,496 MW power to the neighbouring country as part of its power purchase agreement (PPA) which it inked with the BPDB in November, 2017.

The power will be supplied through 400 KV transmission grids which are connected to the Bangladesh grid. The PPA inked between APJL and BPDB is for 25 years.

Jharkhand sees improvement in girls education in terms of dropout rate, finds Centres data

Jharkhandhas witnessed an improvement in girls Education as far as the dropout rate is concerned, according to the data of the Union ministry of Women and child development (MWCD).

The data said the transition rate the number of girls joining a higher class after being promoted has increased from 83.50% in 2018 to 87.26% in 2022 in classes V and VI. Similarly, the transition rate from Class VIII to IX has increased from 78.7% in 2018 to 79.95% in 2022.

The data was provided during a zonal meet on Aspirational districts The impact on women and children’ organised by the MWCD in collaboration with the Jharkhand government here on Saturday. During the meet, teams fromChhattisgarh,Odishaand Jharkhand presented their reports on women and child development.

The teams of these three states also discussed the initiatives taken for women and child development under the aspirational districts’ programme. The programme focused on improving education, Malnutrition treatment, Skill development and EMPLOYMENT.

Jharkhand at bottom of SDG hunger index

Jharkhandis among the three worst-performing states along with Bihar and Assam in this years Goals (SDG) index released by NITI Aayog. In terms of hunger reduction, the state fared at the bottom of all 28 states.

As far as the hunger situation is concerned, the State Government is at the forefront since the outbreak of the pandemic to help the people like running community kitchens and distributing advance ration among others.

However, Niti Aayog has put Jharkhand, with an overall score of 56, at 27th rank in the SDG, while neighbouring Bihar was in 28th position and Assam was placed just above Jharkhand. In 2019, the states overall score was 53. On the other hand, Kerala has retained its top slot in this years index.

Niti Aayog released the SDG index for the third consecutive year to evaluate the performance of the states on 16 different parameters comprising POVERTY, Health, Food Security, Environment protection and Industry among other Growth indicators.

According to the report, Jharkhand was rated on 15 parameters in which it showed progress in 10 indicators compared to 2019 but fared miserably in the remaining five.

For example, last year, the state scored 22 in the zero hunger indicator which slipped to 19 this year. Under the decent work & economic growth category, it scored 54 against 70 in 2019. In industry, innovation and Infrastructure, too, the score came down to 37 from last years 70.

Govt to increase subsidy for MSMEs from 25 % to 40 %: CM

Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said that our government wants the MSME to be promoted in the state. Our government is currently giving a 25 per cent subsidy to entrepreneurs to promote industrial units, if Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce has any good plan for the betterment of the industry, then our government will work to increase the subsidy for MSME entrepreneurs from 35 to 40 per cent. This time, along with the entrepreneurs of the country, entrepreneurs from abroad have also got an opportunity to participate in the India International Mega Trade Fair. Such events are a better effort to increase the industry in the state.

The Chief Minister was addressing people at the closing ceremony of the “14th India International Mega Trade Fair ” organized under the aegis of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and GS Marketing at Morhabadi ground today as the chief guest.

The CM said that our government has done the work of formulating an excellent Industrial Policy. Today many big and small corporate houses have expressed their desire to invest here. Recently, a large corporate sector has laid the foundation stone for setting up an industrial unit in Jamshedpur. The Chief Minister said that the State Government will stand with the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce in every possible way regarding industrial Investment in the state.

Rs 2.2 crore beautification push to Tilaiya Dam likely soon

TheKoderma district administrationhas decided to give a facelift to theTilaiya Damto increase its popularity and attract more tourists and has earmarked Rs 2.2 crore for the purpose. The dam, which was the first of four multi-purpose Dams included in the first phase ofDamodar Valley Corporation, is constructed across Barakar River.

In 2017, the Koderma District Administration in association with the state tourist department had introduced a 32-seater double-decker boat and an eight-seater speed boat to draw tourists and improve the lives of boatmen.

Expansion of Tinplate will direct employment to 1000 people: CM

To mark the beginning of construction for a new industrial facility in the city, Chief Minister Hemant Soren performed rituals for the expansion project of Tinplate Company of India Limited (TCIL). The Chief Minister said that his government will help industries in the state to grow.

TCIL laid the foundation stone of the CRM-III (Cold Rolling Mill) unit at its premises. Tata Steel is investing more than Rs 2,000 crore in this project. 1,000 people will directly get EMPLOYMENT. Indirectly 5 to 7 thousand people will get employment.

The Chief Minister said that his government would help a lot in the Development Of Industries in the state. CM Hemant Soren said on Monday that he constantly remains in touch with all the industrial houses in the state.

RaGa focus on strengthening party base in Jharkhand

In a move to revamp and strengthen the party organisation in the State, All India Congress Committee (AICC) former president and Senior Leader, Rahul Gandhi met the State Congress MLAs in the National Capital on Tuesday. After the meeting he said that the of the State will run smoothly only when the party organization is strong in the State.

On a question of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs, Pandey said that it is included in the election manifesto of Congress. Our party will not compromise with the words of its manifesto. We will put pressure on the Government regarding this. Also we will speak through coordination. Whatever promises we have made to the people of Jharkhand, we will definitely fulfill them, he added.

RD secretary directs 100% approval under PMAY-R

Rural Development Secretary, Dr Manish Ranjan has given instructions to all Deputy Development Commissioners (DDCs) to give 100 per cent approval of pending houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana -Rural (PMAY-R) 2016-2021 and to take those houses which are not completed on remand as per rules. Apart from this, the Secretary has asked to give 100 per cent approval of pending houses under the housing plus.

In Jharkhand, on January 10 and January 11, PMAY-R is a workshop of the states of the East region, before this, efforts are being made to get all the pending houses approved during this period . The Secretary has directed to make timely payment of the first installment and second installment to the beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana before this period, in order to reflect that better work is being done in PMAY in the State. The completion of the house is shown as complete in AwassApp, in which the beneficiaries have been asked to pay the pending third installment, he added.

Ranjan said that under PMAY-R and Awas Plus in Jharkhand, new houses including pending houses have to be completed within 100 days. He said that for this, the district level senior officer nominated for the blocks and asked to visit the blocks continuously and review the progress of this scheme so that the beneficiaries could get their house as early as possible.
