Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday inaugurated a newly commissioned oxygen plant at Sadar hospital of Sahebganj district. The plant based on Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) technology will cater to the need of oxygen for the patients suffering from Covid 19.

Sahebganj Sadar hospital has a total of 50 beds with Oxygen support. But, with the PSA plant the hospital can supply oxygen to other districts and hospitals on the demand basis. The PSA plant can generate 5000 litres of oxygen per hour.

The Chief minister, who inaugurated the plant through video conferencing, said that the government and people of Jharkhand are determined to fight against Covid -19.

The CM said that his government is committed to the improvement of Health as well as treatment of Covid 19 patients. He informed that the vaccination drive for people aged between 18 and 44 years too has been started from Friday adding that initially across Jharkhand 496 vaccination centres have been set-up for this purpose. So far, all 24 districts have been allotted 179800 vials of the vaccine.

Jharkhand ready to tackle wildfires, activates all forest divisions

Officials are anticipating a spike in forest fires due to the extended dry spell.

The Forest Survey of India (FSI), which sends daily satellite feeds to all the states on forest fires, reported 235 large fires from January 1 till March 11 this year. Three large fires were burning inGirgaunder Khunti circle, Kharsawan and Rajmahal, and Sahebganj region.

New med bill seeks jail for assault on docs

The draft of the new medical personnel protectionBill, which was approved by the cabinet of chief ministerHemant Sorenearlier this week, has provisioned a maximum jail term of up to three years and a penalty of Rs 50,000 on patients and their kin, who are found guilty of assaulting medical service personnel and vandalizing government and private hospital properties.

The Indian Medical Associations Jharkhand chapter, which has welcomed the bill, claimed that the bills passage will help the states doctors to attend to their patients without the fear of being assaulted and also plug the influx of patients into the tertiary care centres in the cities from the districts and rural areas.

Sadan morcha calls for unity of Moolvasi in State

On behalf of Moolwasi Sadan Morcha, people from 60 villages gathered in a mahapanchayat at Banabira Bazar Tand in Simdega district in support of their various demands. On this occasion, Chief Guest, Central President of Moolvasi Sadan Morcha, Rajendra Prasad attacked the government and politicians and said that the governments formed in the state have done the work of snatching the rights of Moolvasi Sadan.

He said that in Jharkhand, 80% natives mostly live in rural areas, and for these populations the Jharkhand government should open schools on the lines of CBSE from Class 1 through English Medium.

Padmashree Madhu Mansuri said that Sadan Morcha does not talk about caste, but about Jamaat. Both Hindus and Muslims come from the Sadan community, so both the communities should never get entangled in the name of religion.

Bihar RD Secretary praises Jharkhands MGNREGA model

In order to learn the nuances of implementation and of MGNREGA scheme in Jharkhand and to implement it in his State, Principal Secretary, Rural Development Department in the Government of Bihar, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary visited Jharkhand to understand the MGNREGA model and Rural Development Department of the State. Chaudhary held a meeting with Secretary, Rural Development Department of Jharkhand, Manish Ranjan and the MGNREGA Commissioner, Rajeshwari B and inquired about the implementation of the plan

In the meeting, innovative procedures of social audit were presented and suggested guidelines for action on emerging issues, jury model for every level hearing, protocol and committee for review of action taken, role of every level of municipal organization, formation of labour forum. The officials mentioned the experiments of Social Audit Unit and said that Jharkhand to make this process effective including cultural workshops.

Chaudhary, while describing the publication of news in newspapers as a remarkable achievement in this regard, praised and described these experiments as appropriate and necessary for public participation and fairness and successful implementation of MGNREGA scheme of Jharkhand model.

During the meeting Chaudhary discussed in detail about the implementation of MGNREGA scheme in Jharkhand and the process of social audit, innovation and various aspects of community participation.

Govt creates women-friendly work environment at MGNREGA worksites

In pursuit of encompassing the maximum number of the female workforce in the implementation of schemes under MGNREGA, the is providing training to Women labourers to work as female mates at the worksites. To ensure that unskilled women labourers become skilled/semi-skilled and get guaranteed 100 days of work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural EMPLOYMENT Guarantee Act, unskilled women labourers are being trained to work as female mates on the MGNREGA worksite. Also, to maximize the number of participants the government has directed officials to ensure that 50% of total mates trained and employed under MGNREGA are female.

As per the guidelines issued by the state government, every mate being selected for the training will be given free training by the officials at the block level, which includes, Block Programme Manager, Junior Engineer, Gram Rojgar Sewaks, members of the cluster facilitation team and qualified members from state resource team. During the three day training period, these mates are being trained about the HISTORY of MGNREGA & labour rights, worksite management, minimum facilities required at the worksite, job cards, payment process, technical training to use measuring tapes, work calculation, daily work progress monitoring, preparation of daily attendance report, muster roll management and other technical aspects.

A large number of the MGNREGA workforce in Jharkhand includes women from rural areas of Jharkhand. These women are less aware of their rights at the workplace and are hesitant to speak up. To ensure that the rights of every labourer are safeguarded, women mates have been trained about the required facilities at the workplace such as; clean drinking water facility, shed, creche facility for women, medical kit and equipment required for the better implementation of the scheme. If any of these facilities are not available at the worksite, the female mate is responsible to inform the Block programme manager or nearest higher authority about the requirement.

Improving rural economy key to progress: Soren

Chief ministerHemant Sorenon Wednesday felicitated 400 members of self-help groups hailing from ultra poor household community for overcoming odds to learn livelihood earning skills.

The occasion was the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of 400 Women hailing from Lohardaga, Gumla and Latehar districts who were provided various livelihood skills through a three-year programme by the Bangalore-based The/Nudge Institute under its End Ultra POVERTY programme. It was supported by theJharkhandState Livelihood Mission and Union rural development ministry.

Officials of the institute on the occasion said that the End Ultra-Poverty aims to contribute to the governments efforts to target the ultra-poor at large scale. The programmes journey started in Jharkhand in 2018. KPMG, L&T Infotech and The Rockefeller Foundation are key partners of the programme enabling The/Nudge to create impactful change in the lives of the women in Jharkhand and across India.

Collectively in all the three district, this programme is supporting around 4,000 households since three years.
The/Nudge started this programme in Jharkhands three district in 2019 targeting 4,000 households in the first phase. The first batch of 400 rural women who graduated from the ultra-poverty programme have done so through their resilience despite the twin waves of Covid-19, said officials.

Rs 2926.12cr Supplementary Budget passed in House

The Supplementary Budget of Rs 2926.12 crore was passed in the House with Opposition BJP staging walkout from the House protesting against the bungling in Jharkhand Commission (Jpsc) PT results.

Despite BJP staging a walkout the Supplementary Budget was passed by voice vote. On Friday, the Finance Minister Rameshwar Oroan, had tabled the Supplementary Budget and as per the rule the discussion in the house over the budget was slated today post lunch, but the BJP members staged a walkout from the House. As per the budgetary allocation, the highest provision of Rs 620 crore has been made in the pension head.

It is followed by allocation of Rs 588 crore for the Energy Department, Rs 518 crore for Health Department, Rs 231 crore for Resources“>Water Resources Department, Rs 208 crore for Home Prison and Disaster Management Department, Rs 172 crore for Higher and Technical Education Department. A provision of Rs 188 crore has been made for the Department of Women and Child Development.

The BJP has been demanding a CBI probe into the matter of bungling in JPPC PT and dismissal of its chairman Amitabh Choudhary. Apart from BJP, independent MLA including Saryu Roy and CPI(ML) candidate Vinod Kumar Singh too are in favour of a probe into JPSC exam results. The JMM legislators Lobin Hembrom and Stephen Marandi had also pointed out irregularities in the JPSC PT.

The State Government, which is trying to save its face over JPSC exam results, today faced another setback as Congress MLA from Poraiyahat Pradeep Yadav today cornered the government on the issue of PoS machines being used at PDS shops across the state and alleged that the government paid Rs 250 crores as rent for the PoS machine which cost hardly Rs 78 crores.

Terming it a wasteful expenditure he said that what is the need of allowing such a PoS machine which is 2G and at many places shop owners have to climb in trees or hills to get connectivity. He was of the opinion that a new vendor be searched for the service instead of allowing the old one whose charge is unreasonable.

Jharkhand tops country in desertification

Jharkhand tops the list of states in terms of . As many as 69% of the total land area of the state is considered a desert which is even more thanRajasthan(62.06%), literally known as the desert state. Interestingly, Jharkhand also could not make it to any of the list in the 11 categories of the fourth National Water Awards instituted by the Union jalshakti ministry.

The presentation focused on the increasing number of desertification in Jharkhand, which is among the top five states with a higher rate of desertification at 68.77%. Kumar pointed out the key indicators and drivers causing the problem and the current actions required to overcome it.
The issues of desertification were also discussed from an industrial standpoint by Sangita, the general manager (Environment) at Central Coalfield Limited (CCL). She spoke about the importance of reclaiming the land biologically and building new eco-parks in the state while also taking up a green venture on the overburdens of coal mines. Later, the principal chief conservator of forests, Siddharth Tripathi, engaged the gathering with appeals for their input on the necessary actions needed to be taken to address the issue.

States MMR drops, better than national average: Study

The maternal mortality ratio (MMR) inJharkhandhad dropped to 56 deaths per one lakh live births between 2018 and 2020 and the figure is better than the national Average and big states like Gujarat, a recent survey report released by the office of Registrar General of India has said.

According to the findings of the study (special bulletin on maternal mortality in India), Jharkhands MMR dropped by 15 points from the previous edition of the survey which was conducted between 2016 and 2018.

In the latest study, as many as 71 pregnant Women per one lakh live births died during their pregnancies or childbirth during this period.

The Union governments data also suggested a considerable improvement in Jharkhands MMR over the past decade as another edition of the study conducted between 2014 and 2016 had put the states MMR at 62 alongside Bihar.

As per theWorld Health Organizations goals, India and the rest of the world has to reduce the MMR to a minimum of 70 deaths per one lakh live births. Not only Jharkhand had managed to obtain the WHOs SDG criteria but it also faired better than the national average which stood at 97. Jharkhands MMR is better than Bihar (118), West Bengal (103), Madhya Pradesh (173), Chhattisgarh (137),Odisha(119), the report said.
