RT-PCR labs at all sadar hospitals in Bihar soon: Minister

State Health ministerMangal Pandey saidRT-PCRlabs would be set up at all thesadar hospitalsin the state soon to conduct Covid tests.

The minister, who inaugurated an RT-PCR lab at Siwan sadar hospital, said Siwan was the 10th district in the state to get the facility. At least 96 samples can be tested at a time and 1,000 samples in a day at the lab. While there was just one virology lab in the country before Covid-19 pandemic, it has crossed 2,500-mark now, he said.

The minister said health facilities in the state were being strengthened to face any upcoming challenges. Apart from medical colleges and hospitals, modern equipment are being installed even

Nitish launches 189 buildingprojects worth Rs 2,530 crore

Chief ministerNitish Kumar launched 189 building projects worth Rs 2,530 crore through videoconferencing from Sankalp hall of his official residence at 1, Anney Marg.

Of the 189 projects, 106 buildings worth Rs 1,340 crore were inaugurated, while foundation stones were laid for the remaining 83 projects, worth Rs 1,189 crore.

All the 189 building projects, which are of 18 different departments of the ,

have been or are being executed either by the building construction department (BCD) or theBiharState Building Construction Corporation (BSBCC).

Ethanol policy launched; 30 investors show interest

wo days after Bihar Cabinet approved its own ethanol policy, called Ethanol Production Promotion Policy, 2021, the state department formally launched the policy in presence of prospective investors.

The new policy would permit ethanol production

in Bihar from all feed stocks permitted by National Policy on Biofuels, 2018, and subsequently by the National Biofuel Co-ordination Committee.

Introducing the policy to investors, industry minister Shahnawaz Hussain said that once these factories start functioning, no foodgrains will be wasted as the new ethanol promotion policy allows investors to directly make ethanol from maize, molasses, broken rice and rotten grains.

Bihar: Rs 125 crore sanctioned for ex gratia payment in Covid death cases

The state cabinet gave its sanction to the government’s proposal to draw Rs125 crore from the contingency fund in two chunks for the ex gratia payment to the next of kin of the persons who died due to the Covid-19 or will succumb to the infection caused by it during the

2021-22 financial year.

Cabinet secretariat department special secretary Upendra Nath Pandey said Rs105 crore would be spent on making the ex gratia payment of Rs4 lakh against each deceased person.
The remaining chunk of Rs20 crore will be used for the payment of Rs50,000 to the next of kin of the deceased.

PDS beneficiaries will get fortified rice: Bihar govt

The state cabinet gave its clearance to the governments decision to supply poshanyukt chawal (fortified rice) to the public distribution shops (PDSs) in the state to overcome the problem of Malnutrition in the large chunk of Population both in the rural and

urban areas.

In this regard, the Bihar State Food and Civil Supply Corporation (BSCSC) has been authorized to select the agencies required for the supply of fortified rice to the PDSs. The selection will be done through a proper tendering process.

The agencies concerned will also be authorized to procure fortified rice kernel (FRK) that has to be mixed with rice to prepare the fortified rice. It would require mixing of 1kg ofFRKwith 99kg rice. The proposal for the cabinet clearance had been moved by the food and Consumer protection department. As its target people, the scheme will cover 85% of rural population and 75% of those living in the urban areas.

The sanction was also given to the proposal of the Health department for the creation of 32 posts to man Bihar Health Science University,Patna.
The building construction department has been authorized to select representatives from Bihar School of Darshan or those authorised by it, to prepare the curriculum required for the FreeYoga KendraatShastri Nagarin Patna.
