Andhra Pradesh assembly resolves asking Centre to take up Backward Classes census

The AP legislative assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution requesting the central government to take up case-wise census among the Backward Classes. Minister forBackward ClassesChelluboyina Srinivasa Gopala Krishna tabled the resolution in the House emphasising the need to have a fresh census of the BC castes.

He said that the caste-wise census was conducted way back in 1931. After 90 years, an accurate account of the Population is required to plan and implement welfare programmes for the backward classes.

The minister wanted the central government to conduct caste census for the BCs on the lines of the SCs, STs and minorities every 10 years.

Andhra Pradesh to implement national registration system

The has decided to join National Generic Documentation Registration System (NGDRS) after the successful implementation of the pilot project in two areas. The new system is expected to ease setting up of new industries.

The Stamps andRegistration Departmentlaunched the pilot project in Kankipadu of NTR district andReniguntain Tirupati district. The state government has shifted the integrated data base of the registration department from Hyderabad to Vijayawada about a year ago with a view to join NGDRS.

MoU for APSDC loan likely to see revision

The controversy over the securing a loan of Rs 25,000 crore through AP State Development Corporation (APSDC) does not appear to be over as the government is believed to have started negotiations with the consortium of bankers to revise the previous MoU.
The development took place after the Andhra Pradesh High Court questioned the government for making thegovernorin his personal capacity a guarantor to the debts.

The state governments decision to constitute APSDC exclusively to borrow monies from different financial institutions had kicked up controversy as several PILs were filed in the AP high court. TheUnion finance ministryhad also sought clarification from the state government following a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on formation of SDC as it suspected that the new entity was constituted to bypass the consolidated fund and treasury rules.

Red sanders traders urge AP govt for SEZ

Red sanders traders and exporters have urged theAndhra Pradeshgovernment to set up an exclusive special economic zone (SEZ) so that finished products, handicrafts, and furniture made from red sanders logs can be exported.

They said the proposed SEZ will help in stopping Migration of Rayalaseema workers toGulfcountries. Workers from Rayachoti, Kadapa, RAILWAY Kodur andRajampetgo to Gulf in search of EMPLOYMENT.

Red sanders traders have written to chief ministers of AP and Telangana that the SEZ will provide employment to one lakh people and also help the states earn more revenue than selling it in wood form.

TheTirumala TirupatiDevasthanams (TTD), the richest Hindu temples conglomerate in the world, has put into motion its long-term assets monetisation plan by deciding to lease out 191 kalyana mandapams acrossAndhra Pradeshand Telangana.

There has been widespread criticism that the temple body, which has built 304 kalyana mandapams across the country, has not been in a position to properly maintain and monetise them.

This is the first time that the TTD is giving on lease such a large number of kalyana mandapams.

To repair badly damaged roads in the state, the government has decided to secure Rs 2,200 croreloanfrom nationalized banks.

The is gearing up to launch strengthening and maintenance works for 9,000 km roads after securing the bank loan. The government is making special arrangements to clear bills of contractors through banks to avoid delay.

Krishnababu also said that they would be shortly launching the works proposed with New Development Bank (NDB) loan of Rs 6,480 crore. He said that all the roads from district headquarter city to the mandal headquarter town would be converted intotwo-lanewith new alignments and facilities.
He said that they would begin the first phase works with Rs 2,970 crore in a couple of months. He said that the chief minister had also agreed to open a separate bank account to handle the loan amount to be released by the NDB as per the advice of the Centre.

AP govt to launch animal exchange programme with other states

The will hold talks with zoological parks in other states for exchange of animals.

The government will also discuss the issue with other zoological parks to launch an animal exchange programme.
The forest department said that the addition of new animals will add glamour to existing zoological parks and attract more tourists.

Forest and Environment minister PeddireddyRamachandraReddy has directed the officials to rope in industrialists to set aside Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for the development of zoo parks in the state.

Andhra Pradesh: Vizag all set to become a pharma hub, says Industries Minister

The Andhra Pradesh government is putting in efforts to develop the Industrial Sector, which endured the slowdown during the coronavirus pandemic, with renewed vigour, IT and Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath has said.

Mr. Amarnath said that the government was focusing on three industrial corridorsVizag-Chennai corridor, Chennai- Bengaluru and Bengaluruwith assistance from the Centre. About 9,000 acres of land have been identified for setting up of the nodes and around 7,000 acres have already been acquired for two corridors.

The government will acquire the land and provide basic facilities such as roads, power and water, apart from 75% of skilled local human Resources.

The Minister said that around 90,000 acres were needed to produce 30,000 MW of green energy.

AP bets on renewable energy to meet goals

Anticipating a further increase in the electricity demand, the state energy department has focused on transformation of the sector.

The annual energy consumption in the state has increased by over 31% in the last six years from 50,077 million units in 2017-18 to 65,830 MU in 2022-23. The power utilities met the all-time high per-day energy demand of 251 MU on May 18.

As part of meeting the future energy demand, the has taken measures to enhance power generation installation capacity in the state. The government has laid special emphasis on increasing the RENEWABLE ENERGY generation capacity that would help the state ramp up its power generation capacity.

Andhra Pradesh: Investment proposals worth 16,000 crore cleared by state investments promotion board

TheAndhra Pradeshgovernment has cleared proposals from 14 investors to startnew industriesin the state. The investors have come forward to invest about 16,000 crore in the 14 units which can provide over 30,000 jobs.

After the state investments promotion board (SIPB) cleared the proposals, the file was sent to chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his clearance.

The investors have submitted detailed project reports (DPRs), which include three industries in Kadapa district, two each in Chittoor and Nellore, and one each in Tirupati, Guntur and Visakhapatnam districts besides others.

Neelkamal group has proposed to set up a plastic unit at a cost of 425 crore, while Pitti rail engineering components ltd has proposed a unit at a cost of 400 crore. Both units are proposed to be set up in Kadapa district.
