AP Aqua University finally gets on track after years of delay

The AP Aqua University will come

up on a 40-acre site near Narasapuram in West Godavari district and will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 332 crore in the first phase.

In the second phase, a seafront campus and research centre will be established on a 350-acre site at Biyyaputippa village at a cost of Rs 222 crore, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

West Godavari is the hub of aquaculture in the state with shrimp farms spread over thousands of hectares and presence of numerous processing units.

Establishment of a states capital is a one-time exercise and cannot be done again and again as and when there is a change of mind on the part of the .

Even in theState Reorganisation Act, the Parliament spoke about a capital, Diwan said, adding that though it does not necessarily mean only one capital, but the intention of the Parliament is to create a capital city for the state of AP to compensate the loss that arose after losing Hyderabad toTelangana.

It was for this purpose that the Union Government constituted an expert committee to identify probable locations for creation of a new capital

city and extended financial assistance to the AP government in accordance with the State Reorganisation Act, he said. The expert committee took the opinion of people from across the state, in which 52% voted for Vijayawada-Guntur as the capital city, 10.72% in favour ofVisakhapatnam, while 7% voted for Kurnool as capital city.

The Prerna Sthal was inaugurated to mark Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam‘s 90th birthday as well as the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Dr. Samir V Kamat, DRDO‘s director-general (Naval Systems & Materials), jointly unveiled a statue of Dr. Kalam on the occasion.

The Naval Science and Technology Laboratory (NSTL) is the main naval research laboratory that is part of the DEFENCE Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Visakhapatnam is the location. The primary mission of NSTL is to conduct research and development on underwater weapons and systems.

It is handled by the DRDO’s Directorate of Naval Research and Development. Dr. Y. Sreenivas Rao is the current director of NSTL.

a cost of Rs 13 crore. Resort cottages are being designed such that tourists can enjoy the ocean and sandy beaches. It is located on National Highway 16 and close to Chennai and Bangalore. There are 15 cottages, a swimming pool and play area for children.

The project was sanctioned in 2017. The Centre released nearly Rs 70 crore for tourism projects in Nellore district. However, the works got delayed.

Jagan Sets Up Working Group on Education

Committees formed to monitor land resurvey in Andhra Pradesh

The government has constituted state and district-level committees to monitor the landresurveyproject being carried out across the state. A pilot project was conducted in Jaggaiahpet assembly constituency area after which the programme was extended to the rest of the state. Once the survey is completed, permanent ownership pattas would be issued to owners

for the first time in the state after more than 100 years.

At the district level, the collector would be the chairman while the assistant director of survey and land records will be the member convener. The government has appointed joint collectors, municipal commissioners, deputy collectors, revenue divisional officers and district panchayat officers as members.

AP CID launches Swabhiman Transgender Persons Protection Helpline

Andhra Pradesh CID launched Swabhiman Transgender Persons Protection Helpline number 1091 in the CID office at Guntur.

Helpline aimed to protect the safety and dignity

of transgender persons by ending violence, preventing discrimination against them, including abuse and physical violence, protecting their rights, monitoring cases of crimes against them, and taking legal action.

This helpline would work in accordance with the Transgender Persons (Protection Rules) Act-2019 and the Transgender Persons (Protection Rules)-2020 through which they would analyse the complaints of transgender persons, counselling, taking legal action, and also undertaking sensitisation programmes.

Andhra Pradesh to give e-bikes to govt employees on EMI

In an effort to makeAndhra Pradeshan e-vehicle hub, thestate governmenthas formulated a scheme with funding support from centralgovernmentagencies to supplyelectric two-wheelersto thegovernment employeeson EMI basis.

These e-vehicles would come with a full charge range of 40 to 100 kilometres with three

years annual maintenance. The amount can be repaid within 24 to 60 months with zero from the State Government.

The government is allocating 500 to 1,000 acres of land for developing EV Parks with plug and play internal Infrastructure, common facilities and necessary external infrastructure. About 50% financial assistance would be provided on fixed capital investment to developers of auto clusters and automotive suppliers manufacturing centres (ASMC) specific to EVs. Financial incentives would also be given to private charging stations, and hydrogen generation & refuelling infrastructure. Srikant added that the state government has already created a separate sub-category for electric vehicles and the electricity tariff is fixed at Rs 6.70 per unit without any demand charges to promote use of EVs.

APs SGDP rose to Rs 13,17,000 crore, says finance minister

Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath said on Friday that APs gross domestic product (SGDP) increased largely to Rs 13,17,000 crore (16.22 per cent) in 2022-23 from Rs 9,25,000 crore in 2019-20.
