Lithium reserves found in Jammu and Kashmir

The government on Thursday, February 9, 2023, saidlithium reserveshave been found for the first time in the country in Jammu and Kashmir.

Lithium is a non-ferrous Metal and is one of thekey components in EV batteries.

Upon exploration by the Geological Survey of India (GSI), lithium reserves have been found in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Currently, India is import-dependent for many Minerals like lithium, nickel and cobalt.

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is an umbrella scheme, consisting of two major components being implemented by this Ministry, namely, Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP), and Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP). HKKP, in turn, consists of four sub-components: (i) Command Area Development & Water Management (CAD&WM); (ii) Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI); (iii) Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of Water Bodies; and (iv) Ground Water (GW) Development. In 2016, with launch of revised AIBP format, CAD&WM sub-component of HKKP was taken up for pari passu implementation with AIBP.

In addition, PMKSY consists of two other components implemented by other Ministries. Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component was being implemented by Department of Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the umbrella of PMKSY, which is now being implemented separately. Further, Watershed Development component (WDC) of PMKSY is being implemented by Department of Land Resources.

India has fifth-best accreditation systems in the world: Global Quality Infrastructure Index

India has been ranked as the fifth-best country in the world when it comes to its accreditation system according to recently released Global Quality Index (GQII) 2021. The ranking is based on the 184 economies infrastructure quality. The countrys overall ranking is still 10th in the GQII index.

In terms of metrology and standardization, India was ranked 21st and ninth, respectively, in the world. The report was released in December 2022.

The Quality Council of India (QCI) stated that it is proud to be acknowledged as one of the worlds top five accreditation systems. It noted that it would help pave the way for collaborations that aim to improve the quality of infrastructure.

Quality Infrastructure is a vital component of the international trade community. It provides various Services such as conformity assessment and metrology, which help ensure the safety and reliability between trading partners.

Canada to Commercialize Worlds First Photonic-based Quantum Computer

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a new federal to build and commercialise the worlds first photonic-based, fault-tolerantquantumcomputer. According to a news release from the Prime Minsters website, the investment of 40 million Canadian dollars ($32 million) will enable Xanadu Quantum Technologies Inc., a Toronto-based Canadian quantum computing company, to develop thequantumcomputer which will have the potential to provide world leading capabilities to help solve complex data problems and could be used in a variety of sectors such as finance, transportation, environmental modelling, and Health.

Supported through the governments Strategic Innovation Fund, this project of 177.8 million Canadian dollars ($142 million) is expected to create 530 new highly skilled positions in the high-tech and quantum computing fields.

UNESCO listed Ukraines Odesa a World Heritage Site in Danger

The United Nations cultural organization, UNESCO, designated the historic center of Odesa as a World Heritage Site and categorized it as being in danger during a committee meeting in Paris. It is in recognition of the historical significance of a Black Sea port that Russia has pounded with missiles as it seeks to retake Ukraine.

Odesa has been dubbed the intercultural capital of Ukraine by the citys mayor, Gennadiy Trukhanov, making it a representation of Ukrainian identity.

Madhukranti Portal and Honey Corners Launched

The Madhukranti portal is an initiative of the National Bee Commission. It operates under the national beekeeping and honey mission.

The main goals of the Madhukranti portal are as follows: The portal was developed to achieve the traceability of the source of honey and honeycomb products on a digital platform. In addition, the platform will also help to check the quality of honey and the source of adulteration.

The portal will help increase farmers income, promote exports and increase EMPLOYMENT opportunities. The portal will maintain a Database of all stakeholders related to honey production, Marketing chain, hive production and sales.

INS Sarvekshak On A Deployment To Mauritius

The hydrographic survey ship INS Sarvekshak is being deployed to Mauritius to conduct joint hydrographic surveys with its counterparts in Mauritius. Highlights:

During the deployment process, Mauritian personnel will also be trained in advanced hydrological equipment and practices. The ship began to conduct hydrological surveys on the “deep sea area of Port Louis”.

INS Sarvekshak is a professional survey ship, equipped with the most advanced survey equipment, such as deep sea multi-beam echo sounder, side scan sonar and fully automatic digital measurement and processing system.

In addition, the ship is also equipped with an integrated Chetak helicopter, which will be widely deployed during the investigation.

In the past few years, INS Sarvekshak has conducted various foreign cooperation investigations in Mauritius, Seychelles, Tanzania and Kenya.

The plan will also be supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Piramal Foundation.

The main goal of the plan is to enhance the health and Nutrition Ecosystems of tribal communities in India.

World Homeopathy Day is on 10th April

The World Homeopathy Day was celebrated on April 10 to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.

WolfRayet Stars Supernova Explosions

Supernova explosions can be traced back to one of the hottest stars. Indian astronomers have tracked the rare supernova explosion and traced it to the hottest kind of star, called Wolf-Reyet star or WR star. Highlights:

A team of astronomers from the Nainital Aryabhatta Research Institute for Observational Sciences (ARIES) and some international collaborators conducted optical monitoring of a skinned supernova SN 2015dj in the galaxy NGC 7371 discovered in 2015.

They calculated the mass of the star that collapsed to form a supernova and the geometry of its ejection.

Scientists also discovered that the primordial star is a combination of two stars-one of which is a huge WR star, and the other is a star with a much smaller mass than the sun

Road accidents linked to fog claimed 13,372 lives in 2021

Road accidents caused due to foggy and misty weather conditions claimed 13,372 lives in 2021 and another 25,360 were left injured more than half were grievously injured. Among states and UTs,Uttar Pradeshrecorded a maximum of 3,782 fatalities, followed by Bihar (1,800) andMadhya Pradesh(1,233) on this account. Goa, and Lakshadweep did not report any road death due to this reason.

As per the latest report titled Road Accidents in India published by the road transport ministry, among the million-plus cities, all the top six cities reporting high number of such fatalities were from UP. While Kanpur reported a maximum of 173 fatalities, Agra recorded 108 deaths and the other cities that saw a high number of deaths werePrayagraj(97), Ghaziabad (91) Lucknow (67) and Varanasi (56).Patnaalso recorded 56 such deaths.
