Israel launches new Ofek-13 spy satellite into orbit

Israel successfully launched a new spy satellite, named Ofek-13, into orbit. The satellite, Ofek-13, launched from the Palmachim Airbase in central Israel, is intended to provide advanced intelligence capabilities to the Israeli military and intelligence agencies

The Ofek-13 satellite is the latest addition to Israels Ofek series of spy satellites, which have been in operation since 1988. The satellite is said to have advanced capabilities, including high-resolution imaging and the ability to transmit real-time intelligence to ground stations

First Time A Women Vice Chancellor For JNU

Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit was recently appointed as the administrator of Nehru University (JNU). She is the first woman VC of the university.

Highlights:

The President of India appointed her. Her appointment was recommended by the prime minister and, therefore, the Education ministry.

She may be a politics professor. She is additionally an alumna of JNU and a doctorate in diplomacy.

Her tenure is for five years. Before becoming the VC of JNU, she was working as a politics professor at the Savitribai Phule University of Maharashtra.

She started her career as a professor in Goa in 1988. Then she moved to Pune University in 1993. She has guided 29 doctorates.

She has been a member of the Indian Council of Science Research and (UGC).

India’s First OECM Site Is Aravalli Biodiversity Park

The Aravalli Park was named the first Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECM) site on World Wetlands Day, February 2.

Highlights:

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) provides the OECM tag.The OECM sites aren’t protected, yet they are rich in biodiversity, according to the IUCN.

The Aravalli Hills are the country’s first OECM site. The National Biodiversity Authority proposed that Aravallis be designated as the OECM.

Illegal mining has resulted in the loss of 25% of the Aravallis. According to CAG, there were over 4,00000 incidences of illegal mining. Thirty-one hills have gone since the 1960s.

The OECM areas were established at the 2018 Convention on Biological Diversity. “OECM is not a protected area,” in layman’s terms. It is governed to obtain favorable results.

The objectives are biodiversity protection and focusing on cultural, socioeconomic, and spiritual values.”

Technical Definition is divided into three categories. Auxiliary conservation, secondary conservation, and primary conservation are the three types of conservation.

World Largest Igloo Cafe In J&K

In Jammu & Kashmir, an igloo caf has opened. It is presently the World’s largest igloo caf. Snowglu is the name of the caf. The owner, Wasim Shah, constructed it.

Highlights:

The caf has been inbuilt in Gulmarg, Kashmir. It is 44.5 feet in diameter and 37.5 feet tall. The caf has become one of the main tourist attractions within the region.

There are two sections within the caf. One section is for art and therefore the other for seating. There are ten tables.

The caf can accommodate 40 people. The skin of sheep was wont to make seat covers within the restaurant. It took 1,700 man-days to end the project. Altogether 64 days and 25 labors.

Before this, the most crucial caf was in Switzerland. The Switzerland Caf is 33.8 feet tall and 42.4 feet in diameter. Snowglu caf is three to four feet taller than the one in Switzerland.

Igloo, maybe a snow house. The snow traps the air Molecules. These air molecules keep the house warm. The surface temperature could also be -45 degrees Celsius. But inside Igloo, it’s -7 degrees Celsius.

Salesforce Global Digital Skills Index Released For 2022

India came in first in the SalesForce Global Digital Skills Index for 2022. The ranking is based on a comparison of 19 countries.

Highlights:

The index was calculated using public readiness to learn new digital skills and employee emotions.

India received the highest readiness score of all the countries. India received a total of 63 points.

The index was calculated supported by a survey. The survey asked inquiries to quite 23,500 workers altogether the 19 countries.

60% of the Indians are equipped with digital Resources. Only 25% of the respondents in India believe that advanced technical skills are a must at the workplace.

Only 39% of Indians believe that their workplace had advanced digital Marketing skills. Quite half the respondents wanted to find new skills, mainly to progress in their careers. Younger respondents were more confident that they had ambitious goals of Learning new skills.

Plan Bee

The Plan Bee was launched by Northern Frontier RAILWAY. It aims to keep the elephants away from the train tracks. The plan recently won Best Innovation Award from the Indian Railways.

The plan installs unique devices along the railway tracks. These devices create the buzzing sounds of swarming bees. Elephants get irritated to the buzzing sounds of bees. And try to stay away from the Sound. Thus, by creating the buzzing sound, the device keeps the elephants away from the track. The sound produced by the device is audible from a distance of 400 metres.

Of these, Assam accounted for the largest number of elephant deaths due to train accidents. It was followed by West Bengal and Odisha.

Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs)

As per Reserve Bank Of India (RBI), (SBI), HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank continue to be identified as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs), similar to 2020 list of D-SIBs.

These three banks continue to be in the list, under the same bucketing structure as it was there in the 2020 list of D-SIBs.

Current update on D-SIBs by RBI is based on data collected from banks as of March 31, 2021.

On the basis of bucket in which a D-SIB is placed, an additional common Equity requirement is applied to it.

NENEAT 3.0AT 3.0

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister, and Skill development Minister launched “National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) 3.0” on 3 January.

NEAT 3.0 was created as a unified platform for providing students in India with better ed-tech solutions and courses.

The minister also launched AICTE-recommended technical publications in regional languages at the event.

Learning regional languages will assist adolescents in developing these skills and preparing them to become global citizens.

NEAT is an initiative to provide the best-developed technical solutions in the education for boosting youth employability on a single platform for learners’ convenience.

Indias Monthly Goods Exports Trend

Indias monthly products export report was just released by the Ministry of Commerce and .

Highlights:

In December 2021, export demand for petroleum products, engineering products, and diamonds, and jewelry was at an all-time high.

Exports increased by 48.9% between April and December. In the first nine months, total Services exports were 179 billion dollars (Apr to Dec).

By the conclusion of the fiscal year, it is expected to reach 230 billion dollars. The Growth of export baskets is the primary reason for the increase in exports.

In December 2021, the trade imbalance was 21.99 billion dollars. It was 15.75 billion dollars last year.

EU Tattoo Ink ban

European Union has banned tattoo ink and permanent make-up comprising of chemicals which could cause cancers or other Health risks.

The ban covers hazardous substances like certain azo dyes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), carcinogenic aromatic amines, metals and methanol.

It also covers carcinogenic, chemicals prohibited in cosmetics, mutagenic & reprotoxic substances, skin sensitisers, Metal impurities, skin & eye irritants, aromatic amines and some pigments.

EU has however given a grace period for two common colours- green and blue and have allowed time for alternatives to be found.
