Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat on 75th International Archives Day

Minister of State for Culture, Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi inaugurated the exhibition Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate 75th International Archives Day at , New Delhi.

On the occasion of 75th International Archives Day, National Archives of India has made available the Gilgit Manuscripts written between the 5 -6 centuries CE, which is the oldest surviving manuscript collection in India.

It contains documents written on pieces of inner layer of the bark of birch trees which were found in Kashmir region and contain both canonical and non-canonical Jain and Buddhist works that throw Light on the evolution of many religious-philosophical literature.

UN Accepts India’s Memorial Wall Plan

The United Nations General Assembly has adopted by consensus a draft resolution piloted by India to establish a memorial wall in the UN headquarters here to honour fallen peacekeepers.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj introduced the draft resolution titled Memorial wall for fallen United Nations peacekeepers’ on Wednesday in the UN General Assembly Hall and it was adopted by consensus.

It welcomed the initiative of member states to establish at a suitable and prominent place at United Nations Headquarters in New York a memorial wall to honour the memory of fallen peacekeepers, giving due consideration to the modalities involved, including the recording of the names of those who have made the supreme sacrifice.”

India is currently the 3rd largest contributor of uniformed personnel to UN Peacekeeping with more than 6,000 military and Police personnel deployed to Abyei, the Central African Republic, Cyprus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lebanon, the Middle East and Western Sahara.

Complete Utilisation of Fly Ash

To achieve 100 percent utilisation of fly ash, National Thermal Power Corporation Limited has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the sale of fly ash from designated Plants in the Middle East and other regions. Fly ash is a byproduct of coal combustion in thermal power generation.

Fly ash is so-called because it is carried away from the combustion chamber by exhaust gas.

It is collected from the exhaust gas through an electrostatic precipitator or a bag filter.

An electrostatic precipitator is a filtration device used to remove fine particles from flowing gas, such as smoke and fine dust.
It is the most commonly used device for controlling Air Pollution.

Fly ash contains significant amounts of silicon dioxide (SiO2), aluminium oxide (Al2O3), ferric oxide (Fe2O3), and calcium oxide (CaO).

Jaan Hai To Jahaan Hai Campaign Minority Affairs

The Union Minister for Minority Affairs has launched an awareness campaign called “Jaan Hai To Jahaan Hai.”

This is a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness of corona vaccination in rural and remote areas of the country, and “Crush and Curb” rumors and concerns about the ongoing vaccination campaign.

The campaign was launched in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.

Various religious leaders, prominent people from social, educational, cultural, medical science, and other fields are promoting vaccinations as part of the campaign. Street plays will also be staged throughout the country.

Food security Assistance to State Government Rules

The Department of Food and Public Distribution published an amendment to the (Assistance to State Government Rules) 2015.

This move is expected to improve transparency and reduce leakages at ration shops when foodgrains are weighed for beneficiaries.

The change will also encourage the integration of ePoS with electronic weighing machines.

The notified amendment aims to ensure that beneficiaries receive the correct quantity of subsidised foodgrains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013, in accordance with their entitlement.

It also incentivizes states that have been using ePoS effectively and encourages states to improve ePoS operational efficiency and generate Savings.

Winner of First ICC World Test Championship

New Zealand defeated India to win the 1st ICC World test Championship. New Zealand chased down the goal of 139 to win the first-ever World Test Championship final with eight wickets in hand.

The first test championship started in 2019 with the finals being played in 2021.

MoU Signed Between India and Bhutan

India and Bhutan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand their environmental cooperation.

1.49 lakh Indian illegal immigrants detained since 2019: US data

As many as 1.49 lakh Indians were caught trying to unlawfully enter the US between February 2019 and March 2023, according to data from theUS Customs and Border Protection(USCBP), revealing a grim truth that the “American dream” continues to lure Indian asylum-seekers despite several deaths in dangerous border crossings.

“Those detained are mostly fromGujaratand Punjab,” said a Police officer from Gujarat.

In January 2022, as many as 5,459 Indians were caught entering the US illegally. Of these, 708 were caught along the US-Canada border. The numbers rose 35.9% to 7,421 in January 2023, including 2,478 detentions made on the US-Canada border.

PM Modi to flag off Indias first Water Metro in Kochi

During his two-day visit to Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Indias first-ever water metro that connects 10 islands surrounding Kochi using battery-operated electric hybrid boats. This innovative mode of transportation will provide seamless connectivity between the islands and the city, offering a similar level of convenience and travel experience as traditional metro systems. This transportation system is particularly beneficial in urban areas like Kochi

The metro project in Kochi will begin with eight electric hybrid boats developed by Cochin Shipyard Limited.

The project is being funded by the Kerala government and the German company KfW.
