The Bureau of Energy Efficiency has set a target of 6.68 mtoe energy to Andhra Pradesh. TheBEEsuggested theAndhra PradeshState Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) to chalk out a sector-wise action plan to achieve the target.
It also directed the state to develop a special strategy and action plan to raise public awareness about the significance of energy efficiency measures. TheFacilitation Centre of BEEhas identified 30 energy efficiency financing projects, the highest among all the states, with estimated project cost of around 412 crore in Andhra Pradesh.
Based on the report of energy savings achieved till date and consumption pattern in various sectors, the BEE has fixed a saving targets for all the states, including the 6.68 mtoe target for Andhra Pradesh.
The officials of the AP State Energy Conservation Mission explained to the DG BEE that the State Government has focused on both implementation and awareness programmes pertaining to energy conservation and efficiency.
The BEEs goal of saving 150 million tonnes of oil equivalent by 2030 and Indias goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2070 can be met more quickly by sensitising consumers on energy conservation. The adoption of energy efficiency measures in key sectors such as Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture, Industry, municipal, and buildings will help achieve these targeted milestones
