The Bamboo Oasis on Lands in Drought (BOLD) project is launched.
About Project BOLD:
It is a KVIC project that was launched with the goals of reducing as well as providing livelihood and multi-disciplinary rural Industry support.
It was first introduced in the tribal village of Nichla Mandwa in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Over 25 bighas (16 acres) of vacant arid Gram Panchayat land, 5000 saplings of special bamboo species Bambusa Tulda and Bambusa Polymorpha brought from Assam were planted.
Project BOLD aims to establish bamboo-based green patches in arid and semi-arid areas.
By August of this year, KVIC plans to replicate the project in Village Dholera in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district and the Leh-Ladakh region.
