Expecting significant Growth in urban areas ofUttar Pradesh, the government is planning to set up 100 new townships within the next five years. Thehousingand urban planning department has been asked to start work on identifying the land parcels required to develop the townships.
Out of the 29 development authorities in the state, the larger ones covering the urban areas of Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Meerut, Agra, Varanasi, Ghaziabad,Gorakhpur, Meerut, Mathura, Moradabad and Bareilly will have to set up at least four townships, while the remaining have been given the task of establishing two.
The government will roll out a new policy soon through which private participation in such projects can be encouraged.
The 100 development authorities and the UP housing and development board will facilitate 90 township projects, while the housing department will set up 10 from the headquarters.
