The selection process for the IFS Exam 2024 involves three stages:<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Stage_1_Civil_Services_Preliminary_Examination\"><\/span>Stage 1: Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Preliminary Examination is a screening test, consisting of two objective-type papers:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paper 1: General Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 2 hours<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maximum Marks:<\/strong> 200<\/li>\n<li><strong>Syllabus:<\/strong> Current events of national and international importance, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian Polity and Governance \u00e2\u0080\u0093 Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc., Economic and Social Development \u00e2\u0080\u0093 Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc., General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change \u00e2\u0080\u0093 that do not require subject specialization, General Science.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Paper 2:  Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 2 hours<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maximum Marks:<\/strong> 200<\/li>\n<li><strong>Syllabus:<\/strong> Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision-making and problem-solving, General mental ability, Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, percentages, decimals, fractions, ratios, proportions, basic algebraic equations, etc.), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The CSAT paper is qualifying in nature, with a minimum qualifying marks of 33%. The interview is designed to assess the candidate&#8217;s:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Communication Skills:<\/strong> Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively.<\/li>\n<li><strong>General Knowledge:<\/strong> Awareness of current affairs and general knowledge.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Analytical Skills:<\/strong> Ability to think critically and solve problems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership Qualities:<\/strong> Ability to lead and inspire others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personality Traits:<\/strong> Integrity, honesty, empathy, and other desirable personality traits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 30 minutes to 45 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maximum Marks:<\/strong> 300<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The Interview\/Personality Test is conducted in English.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Final_Selection\"><\/span>Final Selection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The final selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service is based on the combined score of the Main Examination and the Interview\/Personality Test.
