The CSE is one of the toughest examinations in the world, and only a few thousand candidates are selected out of lakhs of applicants.<\/p>\n<p>The CSE is a three-stage examination. The first stage is the Preliminary Examination, which is a two-hour objective-type examination consisting of two papers: General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II. The Preliminary Examination is conducted in the month of June every year.<\/p>\n<p>The second stage is the Main Examination, which is a nine-hour written examination consisting of seven papers: General Studies Paper I, General Studies Paper II, General Studies Paper III, General Studies Paper IV, Essay, Optional Paper I, and Optional Paper II.
