Chutuka is a Kannada monthly children’s magazine, circulated in Karnataka, India.  The magazine is subscribed in Women‘s educational institutions such as JSS college for women, and BMS college for women.

Karmaveera

Karmaveera is a major Kannada weekly family interest magazine, published in Karnataka, India, which has its headquarters in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is also published from Hubli, Davangere, Gulbarga and Mangaluru districts of Karnataka.

Karmaveera was first published in 1921. Ranganath Ramchandra Diwakar, an ex-president of the K.P.C.C, established the ′Loka Shikshana Trust′ (meaning: World Education Trust) on 27 April 1933, which publishes Kasthuri and Karmaveera. Kannada writer and poet, P.V. Acharya, was one among the many editors of Karmaveera. Its current Editor is G Anil Kumar.

Mangala

Mangala is a weekly Kannada film magazine, circulated in Karnataka, India.Having almost 3.2 lakh readers in the state, the magazine includes film news, stories and a children’s section.

Sudharma

Sudharma is the only daily newspaper published in Sanskrit.The paper is published from the city of Mysore in the Indian state of Karnataka. Established in the year 1970, the circulation of the paper is mainly through post.

Kalale Nadadur Varadaraja Iyengar, a Sanskrit scholar, launched the paper in 1970 with a goal of propagating the language. He was also a publisher of Sanskrit books, and the Sanskrit movable types that were sometimes lying idle with him were another motivation for starting the newspaper. When he discussed his venture with others, he had to face the wrath of skeptics who warned him of his ‘misadventure’ and predicted the newspaper’s doom, because not many people believed that the Sanskrit language had a vocabulary sufficient to cover contemporary and complex day-to-day activities and developments. He was, however, supported in his venture by Agaram Rangaiah, who was an editor of a Kannada newspaper and also by P. Nagachar, who was a former Joint Director of Information. Ignoring the skeptics, Varadaraja Iyengar published the first issue of Sudharma on July 14, 1970, from a location called ‘Ganapathi Totti’ in Maharaja’s Sanskrit College. He was also instrumental in starting a Sanskrit news bulletin on All India Radio by convincing I. K. Gujral, the then Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the Government of India. Varadaraja Iyengar died in 1990. The paper is published out of a press in the Ramachandra Agrahara locality of Mysore.

Lankesh Patrike

Lankesh Patrike is an Indian vernacular weekly published in Kannada language from Bangalore, Karnataka.  The weekly newspaper was started by P. Lankesh in 1980 on the lines of Harijan, a newspaper published by Mahatma Gandhi. The weekly remains to this day true to its principles and has never published a single advertisement or generated any ad revenue, surviving these last 37 years on subscription from its readers alone.

The weekly aimed to be a platform for the oppressed, Dalits, women and marginalised sections of Society/”>Indian Society. It popularised a brand of journalism that grew to be the voice of these sections, playing an important role in the Raitara Chaluvali (Farmers Agitation), the Dalit movement, and the Gokak movement started by the newspaper’s founder, P. Lankesh. Lankesh led the newspaper from 1980 until his death in 2000. At its peak, the weekly enjoyed a readership of 2.5 million, with a circulation of 4.5 lakhs.

Deccan Herald

Deccan Herald (DH) is an English daily newspaper published from the Indian state of Karnataka by The Printers (Mysore) Private Limited. It has seven editions printed from Bengaluru, Hubballi, Davanagere, Hosapete, Mysuru, Mangaluru and Kalburgi. Its editorial position is considered politically neutral or independent.

Mangaluru Samachara

Mangaluru Samachara or Mangalooru Samachara which literally means “The news of Mangalore” is the first newspaper published in Kannada. It was produced by a German, Rev. Hermann Friedrich Mögling of the Basel Mission beginning in 1843. The paper was printed using stone slabs, which exist to this day in the Basel Mission Printing Press in Balmatta, Mangalore. It was a very difficult task to publish a newspaper at that time because there was no simple way of communicating news and other written words to the general public.

Roopatara

Roopatara is a major Kannada monthly film magazine, published in Karnataka, India, which has its headquarters in Manipal, Karnataka. Sandhya Pai is the managing editor of the magazine.

Roopatara was launched on April 1977 in Manipal, by Manipal Media Network Ltd. The first edition’s cover page featured Rajkumar.
