He is best known for his pilgrimage to India in search of Buddhist scriptures, which he translated into Chinese.<\/p>\n<p>Hiuen Tsang was born in 602 CE in the province of Shanxi. In 629 CE, he left China on his pilgrimage to India. He traveled for over 17 years, visiting many Buddhist holy sites and meeting with many Buddhist teachers. He returned to China in 645 CE with a large collection of Buddhist scriptures.<\/p>\n<p>Hiuen Tsang&#8217;s translation of the Buddhist scriptures into Chinese was a major contribution to Chinese Buddhism. His work helped to spread Buddhism throughout China and to make it one of the major religions of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Hiuen Tsang was also a gifted writer and historian. He wrote a detailed account of his travels in India, which is an important source of information about India in the 7th century.<\/p>\n<p>Hiuen Tsang was a remarkable man who made significant contributions to Chinese Buddhism and to the study of India.
